Came for dinner and enjoyed the atmosphere and music but had a few disappointments. Hubs had lipstick marks on his martini class so sent it back and it was delivered in a new glass with new lipstick marks. 11YO ordered a plain taco with his kids meal and it was delivered with standard toppings. When plates were delivered the server knocked hubs glass on two separate occasions. To top it off when the bill was brought there were hairs stuck in the pen.

Usually very consistent. Love their salsa… some of the best in town. Staff is traditionally friendly. Today’s waitress was exceptional! We ordered the nachos to share but honestly couldn’t stomach them today. Cold and stale hard cheese that we had to scrape off… they offered to remake it but we were disinterested in waiting another 30 minutes. Had a few bites and sent it back. Enchiladas, tacos and salads are usually pretty darn good. We won’t order the nachos ever again.

Came In with a few girlfriends on a busy Friday night. Service was slow, but expected at 8:30 on a Friday. We sat in the bar area, to avoid the wait, and noticed several annoyingly loud, drunk tables. We are talking these ladies were falling out of their seats drunk and loud. Not sure why they weren’t kicked out. Management needs to monitor that more. Loved the chips and salsa. Too bad our waitress never refilled the salsa, we had 2 little cups for 4 people. My drink came out after my food. My food was terrible. I ordered the chipotle mushroom chicken burrito. I really liked the rice and beans, surprisingly. Most places they are pretty basic. My burrito though… gag worthy. it came out and had a mushroom on top. I ate it and immediately spit it out. It was rancid. I chalked it up to possibly the spices used. I continued eating and found every mushroom I tried was totally disgusting. And I’m a fan of mushrooms, so no, it wasn’t that. Tasted like they were rotten and the cooks didn’t care-it would be covered in sauce so they served it anyway. Picked out the chicken and left the rest. So are maybe a quarter of the filling on an $ 11 burrito. I’ve had bad food before, but this is a first for food so disgusting I had to spit it out.

Let me first start my review by clarifying that my former life was the food safety manager for a large grocery store chain… So to say I notice things in a restaurant is an understatement. While our food looked and smelled wonderful, here is perhaps the most disturbing thing about or visit. We were sat directly across from the kitchen, usually my wife request we move, but they were busy so we took it. There is a sign above the hand wash sink that reads: top 5 priorities: –first round drinks –serve hot food –guest request –prebus –wash hands IRONIC, ITWASRIGHTABOVETHEHANDWASHSINK, 38MINUTESON A SATURDAYNIGHTANDNOTONCEDID I SEEANASSOCIATESTOPANDWASHTHIERHANDS. I see TONS of activity that would dictate washing hands… Such as switching from taking dirty plates back to bringing clean ones out… Supposed to wash your hands every single time. I lost track of servers touching thier face at 11 times. I also watched our server refill our chip cup from the cup bin and touch the scoop to the bowl we had been eating out of. Catcus Grill– FOODSAFETY…: THEYDON’T HAVE A CULTUREOR A FREAKINGCLUE.

Pretty terrible and very inattentive service. Lost our check in the back and still charged us full price. Food ok but nothing special. I’d go next door or somewhere else close by instead of wasting my time at this restaurant again.

Saturday night we ordered 2 Enchilada red fired chicken platters and an order of espinaca from the new menu at Cactus. The enchilada’s were great! Black beans and rice seemed to be new and improved! The reason for 4 and not 5 stars is due to the ridiculous price increase of the Espinaca Dip. It’s overpriced now at $ 5. I’m done with their espinaca if that price stands.

Deeply saddened to write this scathing review of one of my favorite places in my home town of Leawood. Food as always was good, quality seems to be slipping a little recently, but still one of the better Mexican choices in south KC. I’ve taken my teams for outings to this location, visited this and Jose Peppers on hundreds of times over the years. The service and the General Manager are unlike anything I have ever encountered in my life. The service was horrible, very slow, had to ask for everything, chips, refills, even the check multiple times. Restaurant was not very busy, server clearly had other things, perhaps across town that where much more pressing.
Then, it gets interesting. So after not seeing a server much at all thru the meal, taking an hour to get 2 drinks each(watered down margaritas) and I’m 210 lbs, I get asked rather rudely and publicly if I’m ok to drive home by our MIA server. By this time we are more than slightly irritated and leave. My spouse forgetting her purse given the quick exit, we go back to retrieve it, ask to speak to the manager, Calais Sullivan. My spouse expresses her general displeasure given the overall visit, and we are clearly not even remotely intoxicated. Then the manager says to her publicly«People should not drink in restaurants, you are a liability» Needless to say will will not be returning, ever!

We used Cactus Grill for an office training session recently; we had a VERY large pick up order for catering… Cactus Grill was wonderful to work with. Everything was delicious, hot, and packaged nicely for us to transport and set up. The bartender that helped us was extremely personable and even helped us carry things out. Everyone at the office raved about the food! We’ll absolutely use Cactus Grill for catering again and I’ll be headed in for lunch soon too! Oh — and the customer service was amazing when I lost my receipt that I needed for my expense report… They are awesome!!!

This was absolutely horrible. So disappointed. Let’s start with the food. We ordered the loaded CCQ. It was ok at best. My husband and I split the combo fajitas. The steak and chicken alone were fine. Unfortunately the rice was bland. The refried beans were disgusting! No flavor and the texture was just awful. To top it off our server was not great. He kept forgetting everything. We to keep reminding him about everything. Including chip refills. I just feel there was a lack attentiveness on his part. We will never be back here. It was just such an unpleasant experience with both food and service!

This is very similar to its sister Jose Pepper. I used my member reward card & got free espinaca. They have brought back their 2 for 7 margaritas, decent margaritas for that price. I ordered the Carnitas Guac Nachos which is only a happy hour(4 – 6) menu item for $ 4. Great deal! 43.5 inch«nachos» with a pile of pork, black beans, corn, and a very tangy avocado sauce with a few chunks of cheese(not sure what kind). This is the second time I have eaten these for a good reason. I am addicted to the avocado sauce! I would request this sauce on many of my other dishes.

Great salsa and chips. Great fish tacos. It’s a busy place so be prepared to wait during peak hours. They can accommodate large groups but call ahead.

Even though I have lived in the area for years, for some reason I never went to this restaurant until a few weeks ago. What a shame! This is a very good Mexican restaurant. My new favorite. The margaritas are tall and well made. The cheese dip is wonderful. I have eaten the cheese enchiladas every time because they are great. A very comfortable neighbors joint. I definitely recommend.

Love their salsa! Very fresh cuisine. I had the fish tacos and had the chef blacken the fish for more flavor. This is my new go to place for fish tacos! They didn’t get 5 stars because of a screaming screeching toddler that was fink g at the same time. I love kids but this was beyond what was acceptable.

This has been a favorite of mine for over 15 years. Reliable American Mexican. They have recently had a positive change to their wait staff, with more experienced servers in the mix you. My most recent obsession are steak and goat cheese towers. Very consistent. This is a great place for a few low carb margaritas and a low key week night dinner. We also love the takeout option!

Went in for happy hour. The bar was rather quiet for happy hour, but that left ample space for our party. Our server was polite and prompt. Our food was hot and tasty. I’d go again.

First impression is a lasting impression, right? Well, I don’t hold grudges so, consider yourselves lucky Cactus Grill. I came in for a weekday happy hour/birthday celebration and beat my coworkers there so, I decided to grab some tables before everyone arrived. According to their sign, you must see the hostess to be seated. So, I waited… waited…and, waited some more… oh, there’s some that works here! Sike! We made eye contact but, she ignored me. Finally, I found someone to seat me. I assume it was one of the managers. He seemed extremely apologetic and got me seated right away. Their HH menu was pretty decent. Reasonably priced with enough to choose from. Everyone was satisfied. I didn’t necessarily order anything from their happy hour but, a rum and Coke was $ 5 which wasn’t too bad. They have complimentary chips and salsa. If you like, you can request the spicy salsa.

Part of me hates to even write this review because cactus grill/Jose peppers is literally my favorite place to eat. However my trip to cactus grill yesterday was extremely underwhelming. The salads used to be amazing and one of my top pics. I ordered the cheese crisp salad which all of a sudden is about half the size, and the chicken is totally different(shredded) and mediocre. The other salad we ordered I can’t even remember the name of, but it was essentially an 8 dollar side salad. Came in a tiny bowl with hardly any toppings. Highly disappointed with cactus grill after this.

Some of the best Mexican food in KC. Their chips and salsa are superb, but their espinaca is the best by far. They’re tacos are good, as are the burritos, taco salad, tortilla soup, and pretty much everything else on the menu.

We hadn’t been to Cactus Grille since we had moved back in town; it used to be one of our favorite places. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and were surprised at the crowd that they had for lunch. We were not aware that they were part of the Jose Pepper’s restaurant group(seems to us that this may be new). The menu had changed and was now more similar to that of Jose Pepper’s. I enjoyed a soup and salad combo. The soup of the day was a lobster bisque that was incredibly delicious. I accompanied it with the Southwest salad; it was a great combo. The soup was served with cheese quesadillas, so there was more than enough food for lunch. Hubby chose the ahi tuna wrap that was the lunch special. It was incredible and chock full of tuna. What a treat it was to be back at the Cactus Grille — awesome food, superb service and good chips and salsa too!
