The salsa was fresh tasting, but not out of this world. We went for lunch and I got the vegetarian tamales with goat cheese and poblano peppers. The masa to filling ratio was just right, but I did not taste any goat cheese and it was pretty bland Which was the reason I got it. It was hard for me to choose what I wanted because I saw quite a few options I wanted to try so I would definitely go back for dinner to have another try.

Don’t call them. Their menu online is completely different than in-store. The food was absolutely disgusting. The black beans tasted like they were a year old. I would never recommend anyone to eat here EVER.

I would only recommend this place as a lunch spot. The portions are kinda small. If you’re hungry you could end up easily spending $ 25+. We got 2 tacos, a burrito, and a soft drink for $ 15. Overall, the experience was great as a first time customer :) if you’re grabbing a drink to go, be sure to take a sip. My hubby’s raspberry ice tea tasted a little dingy.

I strolled in here for lunch and it was dead. The menu options aren’t entirely clear — you do get beans and rice with your taco, but I didn’t see the menu say that. Luckily, I had seen the menu ahead of time so I knew. I ordered two tacos, which are $ 2.69 each with rice and beans. However, they didn’t double my rice or my beans as a result of getting two tacos, so I essentially got screwed price wise. The tacos I got were 1x chile verde(pork with tomatillo sauce) and 1x barbacoa roja(beef roasted with red spicy salsa). After you choose what you want, there is an area where they top it with what you want… BUT, there is no list of what the heck each thing is, so you have to waste time asking the person what each sauce, etc. is if you can’t tell. I ended up with an avocado cream sauce on the barbacoa roja, and a spicy salsa on the chile verde. Also got corn, cilantro, and cheese. They had limes, onions, tomatoes, cabbage, onion, and some more stuff. I also got some chips for $ 1.10 which had next to no flavor. The little cups of beans and rice that come with your taco(well, just the first one) are flavorless. My chile verde taco was okay… the meat was fine, but nothing great. I much preferred the barbacoa roja, and the avocado cream sauce was a great addition(which is odd because I don’t even like avocado). So one taco was quite good, the other was«meh». Would I return? Maybe. But I don’t have any immediate desire to rush back.

My husband and I have frequented this location since they opened, and we really enjoy it. We often get the pork tamales and Yucatan chicken tacos. We also really like their chips and guac. They have a large table up front that comfortable accommodated a group of 12 we brought in one night. Otherwise, they have about ten 2 – 4 top tables. We also take their items to go frequently, and the staff takes care to package each item well. It is reasonably priced, clean and well managed. The staff is courteous, professional and willing to adjust menu items around allergies and patron preferences when asked. One of the owners frequently works the afternoon/evening shift and his wife often takes the opening shift. They are very nice, hard-working people, and I appreciate the opportunity to support this local, family business.

I really enjoyed sampling several meats and foods with a friend here. We had a hot blast on a somewhat cold winters day. Empenadas? oooooooh yeah! A nice effort with these… delicious pastry and filling. Tamales? uh huh! These were okay, but tamales are either okay or ethereal in my experience. Tacos? Si señor! We tried three different beef styles and all were excellent. Unfortunately I do not remember the name of the most flavorful one… but there was a hands-down winner for us. Remember… the $ 2.50 tacos all come with two little sides. The black beans were my favorite. There are several sauces they will provide for you(on the side or on your items). Service was very friendly and Coke products are on the fountain.

Frida’s Taqueria is the perfect lunch spot. Their empanadas and tamales are above and beyond other restaurants. If you get their tacos or burrito, they are always willing to explain the different meats as well as give you samples to compare. Frida’s Taqueria is always fast, but doesn’t skip quality. Frida’s and Frida’s Taqueria are different. Read reviews and look at the pictures to know which one you would rather go to.

Hubs and I made our first visit to Frida’s Taqueria for lunch today and came away favorably impressed with the quality and freshness of the food. Although it is a small place and modestly decorated, it is well laid out and they make the most of their space. I truly love a good tamale so ordering a Puerco(pork) was first priority, but I also wanted to try a taco. All of the choices sounded good, but I finally decided on a Barbacoa Roja(beef roasted with red spicy salsa) and it was a good choice. At Frida’s all the choices are soft tacos and after the basic ingredients are assembled, the basket is passed down the line to be custom loaded with whatever sauce and special ingredients you request. I got green sauce, chopped tomato, lettuce, onion and grated cheese on mine and it was perfect! I also had the server ladle some of the Salsa Verde onto the Tamale and that made it another big winner! Hubby was Hungry and got a Barbacoa Blanca Burrito which is mild flavored roasted beef and he loaded it with the extra goodies to customize it just the way he wanted. It was so generous that the flour tortilla was bursting. He also ordered two Chile Verde tacos(pork with tomatillo sauce). But only a few bites into the second taco, he was way too full, so I happily offered to take the rest of it off his plate. And really liked that one too! Service was friendly and helpful and the space is meticulously clean. It was a «fast lunch» that doesn’t taste like«fast food». And I will look forward to another visit when I’m in that part of town.

Not quite what I expected at this smaller location on 119th street after really enjoying Frida’s farther down the road. This is more like a fast food option than a sit down and order type place. Nevertheless, the place is clean and staff behind the counter are friendly. Tacos were good, chicken tamale was really good, but the pork tamale was a bit lacking. Their entrance is a little deceiving. I watched three couples open the door, walk in, then walk out only to go next door to the pizza place. I actually did the same thing thinking I had walked into an ice cream parlor rather than a Mexican food place. It’s not what you would expect. In and out in 15 minutes, stomach full, and wallet 12 bucks lighter(a really good deal for this quality of food). I’ll be back to try some of the other taco options and load up on the chicken tamales.

Frida would not be happy. The tacos here are overpriced, they don’t taste good, and the vibe of the place is terrible. As we sat there trying to finish our food(since the bill was over $ 24 for four tacos, a burrito, and some chips and guacamole), we searched on Unilocal to find a different taco place. We wanted to satiate, so on we went down the street to El Fogon. We were very happy there and I’ll write a separate review for them. My tip is just walk away, especially around the 7 o’ clock hour because they close at 8. They didn’t have any more rice and didn’t feel the need to make any. Instead they just doubled up on flavorless refried beans. Several people walked in around 7:30 and decided to walk out because the staff were cleaning and closing up. Crappy service and crappy food. Just don’t do it, go a couple miles north on 104th. Much tastier and cheaper too, with a full salsa bar!

Maybe dining in here is key? We headed here a couple of weeks ago for a taco craving and had a completely different experience. The tacos were both really good and I enjoyed all of the toppings and salsas they had from which to choose. I also liked that beans and rice accompanied every taco and quesadilla. My two-year-old son devoured his quesadilla so quickly that we ordered him another without giving it a second thought. He loved dipping it in the salsas and finished his cup of rice and beans. It’s not an everyday type of place for me, but I’m so glad I gave it another chance!

Street-taco style place is pretty good for lunch. Still working my way through the various meat/salsa combinations, every taco I’ve tried has been good so far — but the sides are both skimpy & flavorless. The tamales are good, especially the pork(nice & just a little spicy!) A little pricey for what you get, but not outrageously so – it’s a storefront in Overland Park, not a street cart in La Puente.

Can we please open a vortex and transport this place to Westport or 39th street where the rent would be half the price thus making the wonderful taco’s a buck cheaper?! The food is really good but they have to charge a slight premium because of the overland park premium location. The spicy red pork will drip down your face and appears as blood. For Halloween just go here, order the taco’s with spicy pork and your party will be instantly transformed into a flock of vampires or a horde of zombies.(is Flock the proper collective noun for vampire? who knows.)

Frida’s Taqueria raises the bar for local taco/burrito joints. Owned by the same folks who have Frida’s Restaurant, this small but inviting taqueria offers authentic tasting Mexican street type foods, including tacos, burritos(here called burritas), fried empanadas, etc. It’s a bit pricier than some similar places, but the quality makes it worthwhile. I had two tacos, one of a spicy chile and the other of Yucatán style cochinita, and a cheese empanada. They were all tasty. You get a choice of tortillas for your tacos, numerous toppings and salsas, and a small serving of rice and beans accompanies the order. The Taqueria is located in the shopping center on 119th Street where Cheesecake Factory and Whole Foods are located. Thumbs up for Frida’s!

Every time I went to Spin, I would peek in the windows to see if this place was close to opening. Finally, they opened their doors for business! It is hard to pass up Spin pizza, so there better be a huge payoff when I do. After trying this place only once, I feel that the pay off was great! In a nutshell, this place is similar to a Chipotle regarding convenience and set up. It goes way beyond Chipotle in terms of flavor and taco toppings. Skip the burrito and do a couple tacos with different meats. They will let you sample a couple if you ask. The pork or the beef stewed in peppers are out of this world! I love the spicy marinated red onions and the fact that fresh cilantro is readily available. The chips are super fresh and piping hot. My mom wished there were crispy taco shells and I have to agree, that would make a nice option. Ambience is OK. Seating is tight and if you don’t score one of the few 2 tops, you have to eat at a cumbersome community picnic table. If you are getting an order to go, it is ideal. Employee’s are kind and helpful. Thumbs up!

This place is great! I’ve been stuck out here in the«middle» of the continent and ALWAYS in the search for great mexican/latin food that I don’t need to go home and cook. It’s simple, authentic, well priced, freshly prepared and most of DELICIOUS. I can’t see going here during a rush since it’s minimally staffed, but it’s fairly quick if there’s no one about. The prices are inexpensive, not Tijuana @ 0200 cheap, but cheap for a place with salary and rent in a strip mall. The staff is nice and efficient and the recipes TASTE authentic, you can taste the cumin and there are real Latin condiments, cilantro, pico de gallo, radishes etc. etc. PLEASESTAYOPEN… I’ll be back. You know, it’s actually really easy to leave long and drawn out feedback when a place sucks. Frida’s es muy sabrosa! P. S. Note to diners seeking Latin food: Queso is not Latin food… at least not at my Mexican or Cuban relatives houses or their relatives or friends. that’s an anomaly that I’ve only experienced out here.

Mmmmm. Not cheap but value as in NOT expensive. Eight types of quality tacos. Premium really. A taco comes with beans(refried or black) and rice served in small cups but not so small you would say it isn’t worth the effort. It’s a nice portion, just on the small side. Look at my picture, you’ll understand why I say it’s small. To you it might not be. OK, the best part. .. $ 2.50. Yep, $ 2.50. I had #5 Pollo Yucatan(chicken grilled with Yucatan spices). Delicious, wonderful, yummy. Black beans — best ever(best I’ve ever had). Usually I avoid black beans because they taste like black beans. These beans had a wonderful flavor. The rice was good, not amazing, but good. I’ll be back to try more tacos. Check out the menu they serve burritas, empanadas, tamales as well as standard sides and quesadillas for kids. I should have done this review right after my visit, I’m wanting to go back now. They are closed too. Only open ’til 8:00pm. Maybe tomorrow.

So I’ve been curious about this place since it opened near my house. We finally gave it a try a couple of weekends ago… and while decent, I really don’t know that there is anything that makes it truly exceptional or stand out significantly. Now, I’m not saying that its bad… just that the quality doesn’t match the restaurant — granted it is a taqueria, but still. Plus, I’m just incredibly picky when it comes to tacos and Mexican food. It’s entirely possible that I’m spoiled by living and growing up in Los Angeles with and abundance of authentic Mexican and Latin food. Definitely a good place to go for a quick bite to eat. Comparable to the type of services presented by Freebirds or Chipotle with marginally better quality and definitely a more friendly, less harassed staff. As far as food goes, they include a small portion of rice and beans with each taco which is a nice plus and something that neither Freebirds or Chipotle offers. Much like the restaurant I’d have much preferred corn tortillas for the tacos than the flour. Decent food, friendly service, and truly casual and low key environment. Standard expectations for Taqueria.

4 stars for the tacos! Street-style tacos with at least 5 meat options and over 20 choices for garnish. 2 types of chicken, 2 types of beef, pork and fish are available. Multiple salsas, fresh cilantro, habanero onions, guacamole, radish, lettuce and more are available to customize your tacos. I tried 1 chicken tinga, 1 ranchero beef and 1 pork as part of my taco plate. All were good and I liked the pork best. The rice is flavored with verde salsa and retried beans are very tasty. I had a burrito on another occasion and didn’t like it as much as I liked the tacos. I may be spoiled from my time in San Francisco’s Mission District but I wouldn’t order a burrito again. The tacos are definitely the way to go here at Frida’s!
