I’ve been there a few times but waited to write a review in case it was just one of those«bad nights». First of all, food is good — but it’s the entire package I’m looking for. A previous experience left my family members not wanting to ever return. A few had ordered iced teas and weren’t informed that there is «no such thing» as a free refill. What restaurant doesn’t give free refills on soda’s and ice tea? It is such a cheap drink even though they charge a ridiculous amount for a soda. Even the fine dining restaurants give you free soda refills. My boyfriend and I aren’t big eaters and we share our food a lot. We had each ordered a soup and then split a sandwich and ordered fries. Imagine our surprise when we received the bill. We were overcharged for the fries according to the menu price AND they had the nerve to charge us a sharing plate fee! Lots of things wrong with this. First of all, we weren’t informed ahead of time. Otherwise we would’ve just cut the sandwich in half ourselves — good grief. I’ve seen this practice in fine dining establishments and it is noted on their menu(was not noted on Franz’s menu). I do understand why it’s done in fine dining but in a tavern? Really? Let me note — I always share a sandwich at the Downtown Lounge — they present it on 2 plates, cut in half with the shared side. I never ask them to do this, they just do it as a courtesy to their customers oh — ANDATNOEXTRACHARGE. Now that’s customer service. I did want to register a complaint but he didn’t want to cause a stink. Instead his thoughts are just we will never, ever come here again. I’d rather let the establishment know how I feel and see if they will rectify the situation. So we didn’t say anything and just left, never to return again I’m afraid. There are just too many choices out there that are good and do take care of their customers.

This cozy colonial atmosphere with a broad menu is a great place for a date or meeting friends. The service is friendly and efficient without being over bearing. You can tell the chef takes pride in every dish. The all you can eat spaghetti was amazing with the 3 meat sauce. The bread and garlic butter before the meal are the best ever. I wish we lived closer!

OMG the crab cakes!!! The bartender and cooks were very friendly and the people here are so great! My husband and I shared a crab cake and we both had a cheesesteak, which were very good too! Not very impressive from the outside, but the inside is cute. You will be happy if you try this place! I can’t wait to go back on our next date night

Just came home from Franz’s Tavern. Always a big choice and always huge portions. Tonight I has the great lasagna and my husband had BBQ beef sandwich. Both were the consistent great quality and neither of us could finish our meals. Also, my husband had clam chowder– don’t miss their soups!!!

Were here for the first time. I had the crab cake and I believe it was the best I ever had. My wife had the ribs and they were very good also. Cutie little Restrauant no curb appeal from the outside but don’t let that fool you. Good food and lots of it at reasonable prices.

Not from the area so we looked at the reviews and thought we’d give this place a try. So glad we did because the food and service was excellent!

Stopped here one night for a few beers expecting it to be a dive bar. It’s more of a resturant though. And it’s an amazing atmosphere. The place was pretty packed and we took two seats at the bar. Had a few beers and decided to grab a few appetizers. Food was great. All of it. We really enjoyed our time here and it was obvious everyone else was having fun from the smiles and laughing. Very cozy feel to this place. We will be back. Clam chowder was really good. Noticed alot of people ordered the crab cacks.

Great food at extremely reasonable prices. Wait staff is not always the greatest and the atmosphere is extremely casual but owner makes up for it with the food!

This is one of the best restaurants in Lebanon(that’s not saying much, but it would be a great restaurant wherever it was). They have a great selection of entrees and sandwiches, and they always have a variety of specials. The portions are big and the prices are reasonable. My favorites are the mushroom cheesesteak and the crab cake sandwich. The owner is a bit difficult sometimes, which can detract from your experience, especially if she’s your server. Besides that, the service is excellent. They have a policy that they won’t cook steaks any more than medium, which I know may be a turn-off to a lot of people. I wish they had a better beer selection, too(more like the Gin Mill’s). All in all, though, this is a great, no-frills restaurant.
