This is a weekly spot for lunch for my colleagues and I. It’s pretty authentic and reasonably priced. The chips and salsa are made fresh for the table. The shrimp burrito and the burrito melt with cactus are my favorites.

Best Mexican in the area. My favorite is the burrito Al pastor. Great little family business. The chips are always made fresh. The service could be improved a little bit.

Found this place recently as a result of searching on Unilocal and I’m glad we did. Must have driven by it over 100 times in the past. Place is unassuming as it shares a building with a pizzeria. Plenty of parking and the inside has enough room to sit 15 – 20. We have picked up from here twice now and both times were good. The guacamole with chips is on point and very fresh. I had the soft beef tacos both visits and would get them again. My wife got the chicken quesadillas both times. First time they could have used more cheese but we asked for extra cheese the second time around and they were much better. This place is a very solid option for Mexican in the area that does not have many options.

I am truly amazed by the positive reviews here. My wife and I have visited Los Chilitos three times now, and we have been very to midly disappointed on separate occasions. I made sure to visit this restaurant multiple times to ensure it was not a fluke. I agree, the entrees are cooked from scratch, but the food is terribly underseasoned. In addition, the beans and rice are definitely from a can and box, respectively. How are you considered an authentic restaurant when your main staples are not fresh? We have also ordered a horchata, which was disgusting. It tasted like artificial sugar with water. And, when we asked for a milk for our son they said they were out. A restaurant without milk. It’s baffling. The staff is nice enough, but they messed up my order one two occasions. The atmosphere is decent, but there are much better Mexican restaurants in Flemington. After three attempts, I will not be going back.

The food was delicious, but a little expensive. The main course portions are smaller than I’m used to, but the food was worth it. Very good splurge dinner. I will be back.

I understand that GOOD ethic food around these parts are far and between so I try to keep that in mind but I’m going to cut straight to the chase… the food is TERRIBLE! Okay maybe not completely terrible but for sure NOT deserving of all the excellent reviews. My togo order consisted of: — the oh so famous chunky guacamole it was on cilantro overload! They should have pulled back on some of the cilantro and focused more on the season. Everyone knows that avacado’s NEED season especially salt and cilantro, tomatoes and red onions just wont cut it… The guacamole did come with homemade chip which were actually pretty good. — Lime shrimp burrito, everything here is in excess no true balance the burrito had an ABUNDANCE of rice and only a few lime shrimp which were simply eh — chicken fajitas nothing to write home about in fact they were overly seasoned and they came with cheese, bell peppers and onions but again excess pepper OVERLOAD. The staff was very welcoming and very helpful BUT the place needs more street presence they are next door to the well advertised ice cream shop. Overall unfortunately I won’t be back.

This place is unassuming & oh-so-good. To be found in a little plaza is one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants in NJ. Their guacamole alone was spot on — fresh & chunky and their chips were warm out of the oven and home made. Their service was also very friendly. Highly highly recommended.

Best Mexican food I’ve had since I was in Albuquerque. Extensive menu and good service. Tres leche dessert was EXCEPTIONAL! Difficult to locate, but totally worth the visit.

Quaint — Family atmosphere, BYOB is great! Start with the empanadas, delicious! Brought half the baseball team and service was friendly and everything came out quickly and hot. Fajita burrito was off the plate! Chicken fajitas as they say are«muy Bueno»! Very clean and well decorated. I will be coming back very soon!

Some of the best authentic Mexican flavor I have had since leaving central California. Certainly the best in this part of New Jersey. I tried a shredded beef burrito special, while my son had their regular menu shredded pork(carnita) quesadilla, with mangoes. I suggest getting a pitcher of one of the Agua Fresca beverages(fruit drink). A value, and tasty, Lo Cal(like I care :))

I have been coming here for almost two years, and I feel terrible that I haven’t written a review till now. I have literally gotten down on my knees and bowed to Maria, her food is incredible. It’s a small, super friendly, family run place; it’s like eating at moms — only mom is a culinary GENIUS with chorizo and cactus. Great vegan, vegetarian options in addition to incredible carnivorous feasts. I have never had anything here I didn’t like, but my two recent favorites which are just mind blowing, are the chorizo fries appetizer and the zacatecanas fajitas. I can’t even begin to do justice in words for the fajitas, but everyone orders them next time, after I make them taste mine. I love you Maria!

I just moved back to lebanon after living in TEXAS for 7 years, so I know Mexican food! My Mexican wife(who spent her whole life in Texas) and I absolutely loved this place. The chips weren’t amazing, but the salsa that goes with them was really good. I got the burrito melt and it was great. Unfortunately, they didn’t have beef fajitas here, but they had chicken and garden(never had before) fajitas. One thing my wife and I were going to miss about Texas was the great Mexican food, but I’m glad we found this place. It is definitely good Mexican for a place in jersey. Also, I didn’t see a drink menu or anything, so I’m not positive if you can get margaritas. I give it 4 stars, because it was overall very good food. Chips weren’t great and don’t think you can get margs.

This place clean and delicious. I had the chicken enchiladas. And a girlfriend had a chicken quesadilla. The tomatillo salsa and homemade chips were delicious. I defiantly love the vibe of this place and will becoming back everytime I crave tacos.

I have been here so many times now I’ve lost count. I am a huge fan. This place is nice quiet unpretentious, that consistently delivers great food, with great service. I’m fairly particular and they accommodate me and anyone else, that may not want certain things on their dish. Sometimes there is extra help(wait staff) and sometimes not, the service is always fast, friendly and courteous. I’ve had almost everything on the menu, I’ve had the chicken tacos, very good. I had the chicken burrito, also very good. I’m here again for the chicken chimigunga, and the specials are great too. So I keep coming back for lunch and dinner.

Good Mexican is hard to find. I ordered the special of the day, some type of mushroom quesadillas. Food came quickly, maybe too quick. Was very bland. My honest suggestion for any Mexican restaurants in the area is maybe visit Mexico or any states along the gulf coast bc nothing in the northeast comes close. The pairings were non existent, no rice, no beans, no quacamole, nothing. Kind of was a waste of money. Sorry :-(

Was there yesterday. I had the special chorizo quesadilla and wife had the chicken quesadilla with mango salsa. Both were outstandingly delicious as was the chunky guacamole. The best guacamole we ever had and we’ve had a lot. Home made chips could not be beat. What a great, inexpensive meal! Fred P

My wife and I frequent many authentic Mexican restaurants and this one is not one of our favorites. When we arrived we were greeted and asked if we would like chips and salsa. We did like the chips and Salsa(all 6 chips). They seemed to be homemade so maybe making a fews more might have taken too much time. They were good just very few. We ordered the chicken Tostadas as an appetizer and the Tamale Special and Carnita’s Platter as entrees. Tostadas were ok but lacked seasoning, they did give you a sauce which I think was Chipolte flavored but seemed jarred. Entrees: Tamales, we could not finish them they were dry and had more rice inside the corn husk than tamale, also had some form of meat which was supposed to be beef but we did not feel comfortable to continue to eat them. NOSEASONING! Carnita(pork) Platter, The meat came out cool to the touch(not even warm). I will say the tortillas were home maid and very good. side of Rice that came with the meal tasted as though it was dipped in tomato juice. another meal with NOSEASONING! All in all young lady working out front was nothing more than counter help and not a waitress so expect nothing more. The food itself was below average very flat tasting with no SEASONING. Needless to say happy we tried it however we will not be attending again nor recommending to anyone.
