The freshest seafood in the area. You get what you pay for, so don’t expect anything inexpensive. Oysters are great, and nice selection. They also have seafood based lunches which is nice for takeout. Give it a try.

I have been to all of the upscale supermarkets and fish stores within 50 miles of Metropolitan’s and, simply put, no one comes anywhere close to their quality, cleanliness and selection. In addition, the service one receives is «old school” — like when customers used to be treated like gold. And, it’s not just from the owners(who are basically on-site all the time) but from everyone who works there. This store is a real gem. Would be great if they ever decide to branch out to opening a restaurant.

Incredible quality seafood. Simply the best to be had in Hunterdon. Their selection reaches across the globe. There is also an impressive side business of imported pastas and prepared foods. Interestingly, they will cook to order anything they sell. Only reason I did not give them 5 stars was due to the price, which is equal to what I find in Manhattan. Worth the trip if you enjoy seafood.

We had salmon stuffed with crab as the centerpiece of Thanksgiving dinner. The fish, quite simply, was the best we have had in many years. A recent batch of stone crab claws was better and fresher than most we have had while in Florida! The selection and freshness of their oysters is the best in the area. Metropolitan is worth a journey to Lebanon.

I have been a patron of Metro Seafood for many years, almost exclusively for raw fish till they moved into their current location. They have the best raw seafood you can get, period. I buy all my fresh seafood from them. Yes, its expensive, but then you get what you pay for. More recently, I’ve been buying their prepared meals for dinner. They are well made and reasonably priced. I probably buy their prepared food about 1x a week. Love this place and love the owner Mark, and his very friendly staff.

Great quality fish and seafood. I have frequented this place and I would recommend it to people who can afford good quality fish. Better than going to a supermarket fish counter. Why not five stars? Very expensive for what you bet, but I think it’s worth it. Saves a trip to Chinatown

Happy to have discovered this place. In Warren county there are few and far in between places to grab anything fresh and delicious. I had the shrimp scampi and a lobster roll with fries. Both were good, the lobster roll was kinda pricey. I plan on going back and trying other things on the menu.

Michael Dabitch convinced me to buy a whole Arctic char for a dinner party. Then he insisted on stuffing it and giving me detailed instructions on how to grill it. All I can say is that we all had the BEST fish ever!!! So delicious, so easy to serve, such a beautiful presentation! What a fabulous evening. Thank you Michael and Metropolitan for being in my neighborhood!

I don’t understand some of the reviewers who are complaining about the price of the seafood. Honestly, once I found this place, I’ve never looked back and I have to travel to get here! I usually go to the stand at the Stockton Farmer’s Market just because it’s a bit closer to my house. The fish is amazing quality. It is never frozen and refrozen and full of water like you get at a grocery store or other seafood markets. I love the staff and the one owner that I have met. They are all so nice and helpful. They can tell you how to cook anything, give you great recipes. One thing that I particularly love, they can be packed and have people waiting 10 deep but they will take a minute to offer everyone a sample of sushi grade tuna to make the wait a little easier. It’s also a great way to get you to try something that maybe you weren’t thinking about. If you go to Stockton, they sell out of stuff fast so do one of two things, get there early or call the main store and order the night before. They will have your order ready and sent to Stockton for you. Now back to the price… if you don’t want to spend $ 40 a pound, you don’t have to. Go in, tell them what you want tp spend and ask for suggestions, they will make sure you leave with something great. I ordered salmon today and the guy asked me if I wanted organic which is about $ 40 a pound and I said, no, the one that is $ 22 a pound. Before I even got those words out of my mouth, the guy that knows me pointed at the one I wanted and said«that one» to the other guy. He knows what I buy all the time and he doesn’t care what it costs. The only thing they care about is that you are not going somewhere else to buy your seafood! Part of what you are paying for is customer service and they go out of their way for you. They are really accommodating. Try this place, excellent seafood, great customer service(especially the Friday night Stockton Market guys) and I love that they stick lemons in the bag when they ring you up!

The best seafood around! The fresh fish is always a bit of a splurge, but the takeout options are very reasonable.(Please make the salmon burger a permanent fixture on the menu!!!) They couldn’t be friendlier or more knowledgable.

Staff is accommodating and very knowledgeable. Owner Mark is terrific. Will be visiting regularly. Worth the drive for some of the best fish and seafood in NJ. If you haven’t tried it, you should. Prices are not just a little expensive, they are eye-popping expensive. If I recall correctly, bread was $ 10 a loaf. Dried pasta was $ 10 a pound. Swordfish was $ 25 a pound. Otherwise a nice enough deli/seafood shop.

I live in New Hope PA, and so wrote a standalone review for the Stockton Market incarnation of the shop to help let other lovers of fresh seafood in the Lambertville, Hopewell, Frenchtown, New Hope area find this great source.

We get fresh fish from this market 1 – 2 times a week. It is divine. Can’t beat the quality. Usually won’t eat farmed salmon but theirs is Scottish ocean farmed — yum! The only cooked fish I’ll get from them is shrimp and crab, which are both cooked perfectly every time. The fried food isn’t good — tastes like old oil and is bland. Be prepared for prices — they are expensive. I pay less in Summit and Short Hills if that gives you a sense. They are at least 30% over market but folks don’t seem to mind. The guys by the fish, however, are great. Give it a try!

You get what you pay for. Treat yourself. I can’t wait to go back for oysters! The staff is so knowledgable, utilize them. Before I go dish out money for mediocre quality fish at a middle tier restaurant I will come back here for a great cut of fish and plenty of recipes to choose from.

Just another quick rave. Stopped in today to pick up lunch. Lobster roll for my wife, fried belly clams and fries for me and chicken tenders for the boy-someday he’ll eat seafood. Everything was delicious. Somehow, the clams and fries were still piping hot and crispy even after the twenty five minute ride home. Several hours later, my wife is still yumming over the Lobster Roll. What a great place.
