Cliff’s Homemade Ice Cream

Cliff’s… some say they have the best ice cream in Jersey. Some say in the US.
Me? I say they have the best hard ice cream in Jersey. Soft serve? Eh, not so much.
Ice cream is made in house of course. They have more than 25 hard ice cream flavors! Not to mention they have seasonal flavors to throw into the mix. There’s literally something for everyone!
Been around Cliff’s my whole life (lucky me heh) and I must say, the best part about Cliff’s is that all of their hard ice cream is banging and always consistent. Flavors are always on point, texture is smooth and creamy, and they don’t skimp on ingredients!
Their soft serve is a different story for me. Good, although a bit basic. Not as much variety in flavors either. Not my go to spot for soft serve I must say.
Ive tried everything from their sorbet to the rocky road, strawberry, rum raisin, peanut butter pretzel, betwixt, salted caramel… And umm, yeah… I still don’t have a favorite flavor after all these years. What does that say about Cliffs? ITS ALL AMAZING.

Best ice cream I’ve ever had! Don’t let the long lines scare you. It’s worth the wait, and the lines move fast anyway.

I haven’t been to the Ledgewood location, but we used Cliff’s twice for a work ice cream sundae social and they were a HUGE hit. Ice cream and toppings were great and the employees who came were friendly and accommodating.

a little pricey, but fantastic ice cream. I especially love the Raspberry lemon shandy — it’s my favorite. and I have a quart in my freezer as often as possible.

Tons of flavors and great quality ice cream. The huckleberry buckle is my favorite. Prices are high but you get a good amount for your money. This place often tops best ice cream places with good reason. Lines are long but move relatively fast and are worth the wait.

This is one of the best home made ice creams around. I love it. Bring your family and enjoy.

Could have gotten 4 stars but they were out of about 6 favors. This is only beginning of season (early June) and at 7pm on Sat night… come on folks. However, what we «settled for» was very good.

Sigh… Cliff’s…what isn’t perfect about this NJ staple? I am currently eating the cookie dough in a waffle cone. I haven’t been here in a couple of years so I can’t review any other flavor but I know that everything I have ever gotten here has been amazing. The cookie dough is fantastic, slightly melt, sweet but not sickeningly so, creamy, just chunky enough. The cone has a perfect flavor, like it had traces of almond. It is sunny out and I can peacefully enjoy my cone at a picnic table amongst grass and tress (unlike magic fountain). Just an overall wonderful experience. Fast service, friendly, great ice cream cakes as well.

This ice cream is awesome. Wife makes me take her (an hour away) to get some. Worth the trip.

Very good ice cream if vanilla chocolate chip or mint chocolate chip. Is one of your likes it has lots of chips inside .
Never eaten any of there other flavors because I have only had there ice cream that they provide from a ice cream social. And the flavors were limited. But overall what I did try was good.

I have to update this review. Perhaps I just had a bad experience last time… but every time we go, the ice cream tastes amazing. They have so many different flavors to try too.

I’ve been going to Cliffs for twenty years. I used to visit three to four times a week. They and Magic Fountain in Summit are the only spots that know how to make an awesome Egg Cream. I make the trip every time I return to Jersey. My body is grateful I’ve moved to So Cal.

If you love ice cream then this is worth the trip. Many flavors of home made hard and soft ice cream here. The long lines you will find here on most nights when the weather is nice say it all. They are open all year and I’ve waited in line in February.

Soft vanilla with sprinkles and a strawberry shake to go and I am in heaven! If you haven’t visited the place, do yourself a favor and go right now! The ice cream is fantastic… The lines might seem intimidating, but there are plenty of people working and the waits are not too bad at all.
Love this place!

Literally took 5 minutes to leave the house, order, & come back to the house.
There were sooooo many flavors to chose from & the sizes aren’t even the sizes. A small doesn’t even look like a small, more like a medium. But it’s well worth it for $ 3!
I ordered a Peach Cobbler & omg, I’m in heaven. I like that it has the cake bread in there or whatever lol. This is too good to be true! Where the homemade ice creams at back at home in California?

Love it here so much I will take the 30 minute ride. I like soft ice cream much more than hard, but there’s something about the texture of their hard ice cream that makes it seem like it’s a cross between the two. Just delicious and so many flavors. Was here yesterday and got the Peanut Butter S’mores — all I can say is wow! May have to go back today!

You know a place is good when in the middle of winter this place still has a line!
The ice cream here is awesome. There is an huge amount of flavors to choose from. They have hard & soft ice cream, frozen yogurt and other frozen treats.
This is a walk up joint, no inside seating, but plenty of picnic tables to sit at in the summer.
The workers here are always quick and efficient as long as you don’t hold up the line trying to choose a flavor (even though you were just standing in line for 20 minutes… you know who you are!) The wait is worth it…
I highly recommend Cliff’s, a staple in NJ since 1975!

Best ice cream ever! They have dozens of flavors and you can taste it before buying. I’ve tried most of the flavors depending on my mood and you can’t go wrong with any of them! Always a fun stop when in jersey.

5 for the ice cream and the awesome number of options. After a couple of samples, I decided on Holy Cannoli and couldn’t have been more pleased.
3 for the ‘tude of the ladies who served us. Why such stank face? Or is this standard for NJ?
5 for the setting; plenty of benches and tables to sit and chat with friends while enjoying your cones
3 for the prices. But again, maybe this is standard for NJ…
