Outstanding pulled pork sandwich and fries! Has outside seating. Fortunately it was a nice day so we enjoyed the patio.

Hell no… REALLY… worst bbq I’ve ever had. The corn on the cob was rock hard and had a grey tint to it. The salad bar was smallest salad bar I have ever seen and the most expensive salad bar I’ve ever had. We ordered an extra salad bar so my wife and i could both have one not knowing it was TEN dollars. If our waitress had made sure we were aware of this insane price we certainly would have saved our money. COMPLETELY overpriced for the lack of any quality. If there was a «zero star» option I would have selected that.

After eating at the other restaurants in Lee Vining, I must change my rating and review: I am simply flabbergasted at how restaurants don’t do competitive analysis. This one is one that obviously doesn’t. They must think that if we eat it, we must like it. Well, have you eaten down the road at the gas station restaurant? No comparison. The fries at Mikes are from frozen and gross. The other is crispy and fresh. Fresh produce at the other but here? Not hardly any. As someone with a business degree and background in business I find it strangely odd that this restaurant won’t change. I would not eat here ever now that I know my choices. No vegetarian but another café has it a block away! Comparative analysis means that once a month, you eat at the other restaurants and compare food and prices. Mandatory tip. I’m American as many of u are. I didn’t ask but I beleive the mandatory tip is due to the many visitors of other countries where there is no tip. I imagine that they don’t want to be stiffed unintentionally. Had a chicken BNA sandwich w jalapeño rigs. Freshly cooked. Jalepenos were made there and I could tell. Greasy American but good. Chicken sandwich: roll was fresh and soft and good. Chicken was previously frozen, a little tough, but not too salty. The chicken was real not in a solution. Gotta be real careful on cook temps and not to cook too much especially when frozen. I would eat here again but it’s not healthy food.

STRIPPEDNAKED! On the road again, me and The Crew hit the road again. If you’ve ever driven to the Mammoth area, you know it’s a loooooooon arse drive up the 395. Lee Vining is a quaint little town, kind of the last of civilization for a good long while. Heading to our last backpacking trip of the season, carpool buddy/fellow hiker and I decided to make Bodie Mike’s our last supper. It didn’t hurt that it was a rib joint, and we both love the taste of a nice rack, rack of ribs, that is. Located on the main drag, y’all can’t really miss it. It is amongst a cluster of little shops, eateries, and pubs there is both inside and outside seating, see hostess to be seated. The interior décor is, well, rather dated, but it’s cool, just here to decorate our insides with some hearty grub, before hitting the trail where our grub will be consumed more to keep our strength up than for yummy good flavor. Our hostess had the mostest friendly and personable attitude, quick to seat us, hand us menus, and serve up glasses of water. Out of courtesy, fellow hiker and I skimmed the menu, truth be told, we knew what we wanted before even stepping into this establishment. BABYBACK, BABYBACK, BABYBACKRIBS!!! Half rack comes with steak fries, mini-me cobbed corn, and an open salad bar, with homemade soup available. It didn’t take long for our racks to be stacked on our table, equally, it didn’t take long for fellow hiker and me to start moaning for more. Good grief! What the heck is in this sauce?! I’ve never tasted anything like it. Well, apparently, it is a chef’s secret, not even the staff knows what’s in it. Hmm… Perhaps, it best we don’t know. The sauce was amazingly delish, and the meat… After cutting between the rib bones, I attempted to pick up the rib, all hearty and juicy with steamy hot meat on it, opened my mouth, wrapped my lips around it and in one smooth slide, all of the meat came off the bone. No need to tug, no need to nitpick at the little pieces of meat left on the bone. Slurp! Left the bone dry. Corn on the cob was hot, fresh, totally squirtable, and actually tasted like corn. I wouldn’t doubt they grown this stuff out back. Yeah, I moaned for more corn. As much as I love fried, steak fries or thick cut fries are typically not my fave, I don’t know, perhaps whatever secret ingredient is in the rib sauce makes the taste buds so happy everything tastes superdeeduper amazing. Yes, even the fries were off the hook. OFFTHERIB! How many bites does it take to get to the bone of Bodie Mike’s ribs?! ONE!!! This place is on the beaten path, their food was off the rib, I mean, hook. Parking was a breeze, service was excellent. Downside to this place, they are not open all year long and they are so freakin’ far from LA. Note to self, plan accordingly.

This place was good but really nothing special. The food was good and decently priced and the service was good. But again, nothing really stood out for me except the tourist charm.

They have amazing beef ribs! If you are a beef rib fan than come check it out. The service can leave something to be desired tho and it gets swamped with tourists so flag down help when you can :) The salad bar is a nice touch, but for me it’s all about the delicious rack of beef ribs. Yum!

Sitting outside was nice. That’s the highlight. Wife had BBQ chicken sandwich, tough and overcooked. My hot dog was ok, it’s a hot dog! Bowl of chili ok as well. Don’t try to use debit card, apparently there are some problems with their payment system. I won’t be going back, I’ll go to Whoa Nellie or Mono Cone next time.

If Service is bad it’s generally all down hill. It took 10+ minutes to get beverages ordered. No idea how long it took to actually get the food. The server was going from table to table trying to find where it belonged. Food was ok, the grease the zuch chips were done in was old. Bbq sandwich was ok. Never got any refills and had to take our leftovers up to the register to both get our ticket and get a box. Never got the dessert ordered with the meal. Stopping here again? Nope!

I actually enjoyed the bbq ½ chicken so much on my first night in Lee Vining that i talked my parents into eating BBQ again the second night. The dinners came with salad bar and soup which is nice, and what tasted like hot fresh baked bread that you serve yourself out of a warming toaster thingy. The service was pretty friendly and everything was paced properly. Between the ribs, chicken and salmon i am not sure which is better but they were all delicious! The bbq sauce is on the sweeter side which i like and the ribs fell off the bone. Also the cole slaw was insanely good. The only reason i am subtracting a star is because the corn that comes with the dinners and the salad at the salad bar could be better. But, then again, who goes to a bbq joint for corn and salad!!!

Bodie Mike was a pit stop on our way to Yosemite and what a surprise. We absolutely loved the food. So far it’s one of our favorites on our trip.

Along this portion of Hwy 395 you would start eating your own flesh or chewing on your girlfriend or kid, until an oasis of a small town with a few choices to eat. Yeaaahhh, just so NO to cannibalism. Patio dining, and then inside, tables and a bar in a separate room makes this a one-stop shop. The service was the high point. Down home, friendly, and good personality gal. Perhaps, not getting the BBQ was my mistake, but I wasn’t that hungry. Chili($ 5.95) tasted like Dennison’s with some fresh ground beef(2.0 stars) and the Fried Zucchini($ 6.95) was absolutely not fresh but made from frozen(2.0 stars) and blew my diet out of the water. Salad bar is fresh, but has 8 – 10 things. People near me said the vegetable beef soup was good. The vibe is very touristic, but like I said — not many choices.

Just coming back from a trip to the Bodie ghost town, hungry and ready to eat. We wanted a table outside because it was such a beautiful day, but there were too many flies so we asked for a table inside. That didn’t help much, there were still plenty of flies. I wasn’t impressed with the menu and decided to play it safe and order a few burgers and be on our way. The service was good, but the food wasn’t. Burgers were mediocre and the steak fries were just not good. On a positive note, the tater tots that came with the kids meals were delicious. I was burping up the meal the rest of the day and had other side effects of which I won’t go into details.

The perfect fuel up before a big hike in Yosemite or the Mammoth Area! We arrived around 4pm for a super early dinner in preparation for a couple of ghost tours at Bodie State Park. It was a gorgeous and amazing summer day in the mountains and so the place was still super busy with(mainly tourists) enjoying the afternoon sunshine and a beer or two. Started with the fried jalapeños which were the perfect balance of crispy spicy goodness — fresh out of the frier and straight into the(small) serving of ranch dressing… still they went down a treat with the pint of Mammoth Brewery Amber Ale… Entrees consisted of a Bodie Mikes BBQ Hamburger for him and a Trip-Tip Sandwich for me… the trip-tip was mouthwatering deliciousness. It actually kinda reminded me of really good, insanely tender brisket… and with a side of steak fries and coleslaw, half of my sandwich ended up in the to go box… if your close by give it a try… its pretty delish and on a summers day the views and the breeze can’t be beat!!!

Delicious food, great service, clean restaurant. Ribs fell off the bone and the burger was yummy. Coleslaw was awesome — not sweet at all. Prices made sense for the portions and all big means include a salad bar. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and accurate. Great stop after galavanting all over Yosemite.

Pulled pork sandwich. Fries. Macaroni salad. And you got yourself the best night you’ll ever have in Lee Vinings. Lots of hikers and some locals come here and honestly it’s the best food you’re gonna get for 30 miles either way if you’re just visiting.

Tourist trap alert! Tips included for a party of three? Really? I’m a pretty good tipper — my standard is 20% of the pre-tax bill if the waitress simply does her job. More if she is especially helpful or attentive. So in most cases when I see a «tips included» policy on the menu, I think to myself«your loss,» and move on. But this place really ticked me off not because they added tips for bad food and bad service, but because such policy was not stated on their menu. I’m curious if they add tips to everybody’s checks? If so, they are swindlers for not stating the tipping policy on the menu. If, on the other hand, we were the only ones for whom the tips were included, they are racists. Bodie Mikes is one of a very few restaurants in lee vining, in a very touristy Yosemite and near the picturesque mono lake, and they take full advantage of tourists! $ 25 for a rack of ribs that was boiled, drenched in a smoke-flavored super-sweet sauce, and slammed in the grill for a few minutes??? Skip this place, and go to the one next to the gas station — they have far better service and food, and won’t try to swindle you.

This place is a gem. The service was very friendly and we loved the local vibe. I had the tri-tip sandwich and my wife had the ribs. The meat was very tender and the BBQ sauce was incredibly flavorful. So delicious. Even the french fries were outstanding. I’m not sure what makes them so good, but wow.

We were looking for a nice place for our dinner and we found this nice place. We had the Tri-Tip Sandwich and the Teriyaki Vegetable Kabobs. I wanted to have the sandwich without Onions and withoud salad. My husband tooks the Vegetarian Food. You can go to the salad and soup bar if you have one of the dinners. The service was very fast and very friendly and our food was great. So it was the right choice this evening!

MIAMMIAMMIAM !
