I had the club sandwich which was delicious. Service was friendly and timely. Will absolutely stop here again!

We stopped here on our way home. The staff is incredibly friendly and very attentive. We got your normal breakfast diner food and I was pleasantly surprised. My eggs were cooked how I like them, the hash potatoes were crispy, and my coffee was good! Their buttermilk pancakes are large portions and quite delicious. Will definitely be stopping by again!

The place reeked of burnt, used oil which caused a mild irritation in the eyes. One of the waiters looked as though he had not taken a bath in months and had ridiculously long hair and beard making me think how much hair is actually falling in the food he’s serving. Finally, no points for food either. We ordered a tostada salad and a veggie melt. The tostada was dripping with oil and the patty in the veggie melt was terrible. I wished Unilocal had a rating scale where one could give negative points.

Yecch!!! Beware! Horrible food. The hostess was sweet, seated us immediately. Unfortunately, the surly, old blonde waitress got orders from 3 tables of local parties that came in after us. When she finally got around to us, I ordered soup and salad, my husband ordered the fried chicken special. His salad arrived straightaway, albeit watery and soggy, however, 40 minutes later, no chicken, soup or salad. This is a diner, mind you. I inquired and mentioned I could skip the soup… Her reply was«Oh no, not after all the trouble we went through to get it for you»! She just has a nasty attitude! When it arrived It was clearly chicken broth and onions with mushy canned chicken which had been microwaved to DEATH! The chicken special appeared to be chicken dipped in pancake batter and deep fried in the French fry grease… Extra grease. It was inedible. My guy almost puked in the parking lot. Generally he’ll eat about anything. Just imagine the worst school cafeteria or hospital food then a bitchy waitress. While we were sitting there we remembered the movie«Five easy pieces».

This is an old school diner, and it’s very good for what it is. I had the breakfast special with 2 eggs, hash browns, corned beef hash, and sourdough toast. The hash browns were excellent and were obviously made freshly — not the frozen stuff that you usually find at most diners. The portion sizes were very generous, and everything was very well prepared. My wife had the fried chicken, which was very crisp and tasty. The order included 4 pieces — a drumstick, thigh, breast, and back. The breast was a little on the dry side, but he dark meat pieces were excellent and juicy. You should not eat here if you want a vegan gluten free salad or anything that would be typical diner food circa 1968. If you want real traditional red blooded American food, then this is an excellent choice.

The place smelled strongly of used oil, causing a mild burning sensation in the eyes. The food was quite mediocre, service was average and there was a waiter with long unkempt hair and thick beard, which made me wonder how much of his hair might have fallen in my food. :|

The food was amazing, the service was exceptional, and the owners kids were so cute and so polite. Even the bathroom was exceptionally clean. And wonderful delicious food!

Three stars for this place is ridiculous. Listen, this is a diner. It’s not a AAA diamond rated resort. Judge it for what it is. It’s a place where travelers and locals go to get good food at a decent price and with a smile. I had the pancakes and homemade sausage. It was great. The pancakes were fluffy and the sausage was legit. It was herby and just a touch of spice. The wife had the hash browns and eggs. Both of them were cooked to perfection. Thank you for a great place to eat and refuel my belly. Trust me, I eat everywhere and if this place sucked I’d tell you.

[CAUTION: CONTAINSTRIGGERWORDS] Everyone here seemed very friendly and helpful this Sunday morning, but it’s probably because I’m such a pleasant fellow. I know where I am, I know where I’m sitting, and I know what to expect. Wonderful food. My expectations were met– and more. Perfectly done eggs, nice truck-stop-style hash browns, nicely(see what I did there?) seasoned sausage patties, and RYETOAST! Even the coffee was great. Was there some grease? Hell yeah. Did I order the vegan lo-cal no-gluten breakfast? Oh hell no. I got a breakfast that lasted me for a good 6 hours down the road. That’s what I needed, that’s what I wanted, and they delivered it.

had to stop here while traveling home from Lake Tahoe. Only open restuarant at the time of the visit. The sign on the window stated«help wanted» and once you dine there, you’ll know that help is needed. The waiting staff was way understaffed and feed was just meh.

Old school diner/truck stop– sweet! We have been here twice and like it! Those of you who are old enough, remember restaurants like this. Well at least I do. :) from road trips to the mom and pop diners on city corners, these places ruled the roads once upon a time. I’m just not talking small towns like Lee Vining but larger cities too. You can see them in old movie scenes of the 60s –70s. Most of them gone, so its great to see one still hanging in there. Yes, the décor still hasn’t changed from who knows when but that’s OK, it works for the place. The food is classic American, the food we grew up on(anyone born pre 1980 lol). The two times, I’ve been here I ordered the fried chicken and its great! Nothing fancy, just juicy golden fried chicken classicly made. I’ve been to diners across the country and I have one recommendation that works for me. Don’t try to order anything fancy. You aren’t going to impress anyone by ordering the most sophisticated sounding item of any diner or truck stop menu. Ive made that mistske several times, then coveted the burger at the next table. The items diners or road side establishments cook well are breakfasts egg and side meat dishes, fried chicken or anything in burger form, patty melts are a fave. Pies are also a good option for diners too. So with that said, this place is no exception. My family had the burgers and they really liked them. Apparently they are char broiled which was big hit for them. So if you don’t mind a bit of classic American food in diner atmosphere, then check out nicelys.

Still the same nothing special, but the prices went up. The service is really random — not very friendly, but they seem to try, I’m not sure they know how to be friendly.

My husband got a NY steak sandwich and myself and my friend ordered a chef salad. Both choices were horrible. The ambiance and service was amazing, but they’re quite lacking in the food department. You might be safe with something like a burger or fish and chips, I don’t know. My salad bowl tipped over with every forkful, I had to hold it with one hand. I’m surprised they still use these bowls! The blue cheese dressing was tasteless. When I got to the bottom of my poorly functioning salad bowl, there was a generous pool of nasty-looking water waiting for me. I wanted to puke. I feel badly leaving such a poor review, but it’s the truth, and I hope management sees this so they can improve. But we will not be back.

They need to change the name because NICE isn’t the word to describe the staff. No personality! Food is too $$$ for what you get. Booths are very tight and uncomfortable . They don’t have a lot of competition so they don’t have to try too hard. I ordered oatmeal with sliced banana and the banana was brown and rotten. Pointed it out to server and got a nasty look. Coffee is weak!

Basic american fare. Huge servings and friendly staff. All set in a pretty classic diner(and an even more classic bar next door). Had the spaghetti special — like a tasty home made Bolognese. The apple pie was amazing. If you need a smaller bite with veggies I recommend the baked potato with broccoli, cauliflower and cheese. We stayed in the area for three days and found ourselves here on four occasions even though meat and bread are things my travel mate tries to avoid!

So many things wrong. Took 3 try’s to get our drinks from 3 different waiters. The hostess doesn’t seem to know what she is doing. Adds up each bill in her head. Takes forever. Cannot determine who is a waiter/waitress and a busser. NO sense of organization. As for the food. BLAH. Definitely not good enough to compensate for the horrible service. This is the only restaurant that we could find that was open and close to Tioga pass. Would have paid the more money in Yosemite to eat. Try hard not to come here.

Passing thru on our way home we stopped here for breakfast. I had 2 eggs over medium with sausage, hash browns and sourdough toast. All were delicious. The sausage patties were a bit over cooked but still not too bad. The husband unit had the daily breakfast special gravy over 2 sausage patties, eggs(he ordered his scrambled) and a biscuit with hash browns. He cleaned his plate. I tasted his gravy and it was pretty good. Our server was fine. Don’t know his name since he didn’t give it nor was he wearing a name badge. While he was taking a comment card left by another customer to the Comments box he was writing on it. A gentleman, I’m assuming the owner or manager, told him to put it in the box. The waiter said he was putting his name on it. The owner/manager then said that means you didn’t introduce yourself if they didn’t know your name. I got the impression this owner was/is a hands on type of boss. Anyway, this is a great place to grab a nice and hearty breakfast if you are passing thru. Décor is typical small town diner, nothing fancy.

Originally we tried to have breakfast on our way out of Bridgeport at the Bridgeport Inn. That place was very busy and I had to flag down someone to seat us. Then we sat for 10 minutes without being acknowledged so we ended up walking out. So glad we did. Nicely’s was just down the road and we had an excellent breakfast. My husband had chicken fried steak and eggs and it was the bomb! The steak was an actual steak — not that machine tenderized steak that they usually are. His eggs were cooked perfect and he got a side of pancakes. They were thin and delicious. I had the eggs benedict and I have to say they were some of the best I’ve had and they did not skimp on the Hollandaise which I absolutely love! The hash browns were perfect too! Service was good and the prices were reasonable. We will definitely keep coming here on our yearly trip to the Sierra’s.

Disgusting. Plain and simple. I camp up north every summer and last year we stopped here to eat. I had forgotten that the food and service sucked after we were already seated. This place needs to be demolished and rebuilt. The booth we were at had torn seats and the table was sticky. Ugh! I wish Gordon Ramsay would show up here. Our waitress was on the weird side. She was joking with me like a trucker would. Gross. I’m actually not sure if we had 2 waitresses, but we had 2 women serving us. Never asked if we wanted refills. I know there’s a drought, but cmon! The food was disgusting. 3 of us had burgers and the fiancé had some sandwich thing with mushrooms. His sandwich was sloppy and leaked from a mystery liquid. He kept trying to pawn it off on me. NOWAYDUDE! Our service sucked. Never again will we be going back. Oh, I left no tip.

Excellent diner to stop by if you’re visiting Mono Lake. It was getting late in the day and we decided to dine here before heading back on Tioga Rd. I had the Golden Fried Chicken and it was just terrific(juicy and very tasty). The soup of the day(beef barley) was hearty and delicious. The service was excellent and friendly. The price was very decent for a diner in the middle of nowhere. Will definitely return if in the area again.
