This was a lovely inn. We stayed 2 nights on a trip to the Berkshires. The host is gregarious and tries to help you find things to do in the area. We already had plans but appreciated his helpfulness anyway. The room was great although a bit noisy as the building is close to the road(as are many old stage stops like this) so if we opened the window we had traffic noise and if we closed it the AC was loud but needed. The bed was comfortable, the room well appointed and pleasant. The tv is tiny but we were not really there to watch tv. The WiFi worked with an annoying need to re-log in any time we suspended a device and restarted it. It also had fairly minimum bandwidth. Ok for e-mail and basic browsing but not serious work or streaming a netflix or tv show if you wanted to. Breakfast was substantial with few, but excellent choices. The dining room is pleasant and comfortable. The grounds are also lovely. A huge lawn runs down to a gazebo right by the river. Watch out for the goose droppings when you get near the river though. There are also a first and second level porch you can sit on although they are on the street side so a bit noisy too We were very happy with our stay there and would stay again.

Oh my, this is an antique-filled treat of a B&B. Each room has a fireplace and the furniture is period(maybe not 1794 but definitely not 2011). Bed is firm – love the tasteful canopy hanging from the four posts. It is minutes to Stockbridge or the Mass Pike; very convenient. The grounds are stunning. The front of the house is on a well-travelled(sometimes noisy) road. But the back rolls gracefully down to the Housatonic. There is a small but lovely gazebo beside the river. I saw plenty of small bird life and noticed only a few fish rising on the glass-like surface. Bathroom in my room is a bit claustrophic – the shower is tiny with a too large shower head which means, if you are height-challenged that you can’t get out of the spray. Breakfast – coffee was hot and good, not weak. They offer eggs(I believe prefab since an omelet only takes 45 seconds to make), pancakes, french toast and cereal. Nothing extraordinary. Host George was affable, his son Andrew(?) arrived as I was here to take over the reins for much of the summer.
