I prefer scotzin’s to others in the area since moving to Harrisburg. The emphasis of beers has improved with better yeast and hop varieties with very convenient bulk malt and lots of equipment from kettles to fermenters scales and airlocks etc. The last time I was treated to a great homebrew on tap and Brad always greets me by name which is nice.

I’ve shopped this place over the years. Nice staff, great selection… but for the love of Jesus… GETTHEDOGSOUTOFTHESTORE!!! The employees sometimes bring their dogs in the store like it’s cute and I’ve gritted my teeth because I think it gross. Well, today I was making some beer and I saw a nasty dog hair attached to the price label on my hops. The problem is I’ve never owned dogs so it had to come from that big mutt that traipses around the store like he owns the place. As much as I like(not love) the store and that its right down the street I’m looking for alternatives. Animals around food product is not sanitary especially for a hobby that demands cleanliness.

I’ve not found a place more stocked or people more knowledgeable(& awesomely nice!) than here. I’m a new home wine-maker & go there to buy high quality juice, cleaning supplies/sanitizers, necessary gadgets & other fun stuff. Can’t seem to leave without something in my hands(& my wallet that much thinner!) Everything for beer-making here too. Gluten-free options available too! It’s a bit confusing to find — after you turn off the main st, it’s in the set of buildings behind the thrift shop. You’ll see the sign & flag but can be easily overlooked the 1st time.
