Great tour guide! Baron was friendly, knowledgeable, and entertaining. The awesome spirits aside, one of the best brewery/distillery tours I’ve ever been on. Great event space too!

What a fun time we had at the Unilocal Event here. The owners were very personable and we enjoyed the tour and the samples of their efforts. I will look for their brand in the future when I’m buying vodka. The have event space that I’ve never used but have heard that it is very accommodating and well-served. The cocktails were received, btw, at the event, were superb.

Unilocal KC held Booze School at the Dark Horse Distillery and it was great! The cocktails were delicious(the Elder Fashioned? My love!), the venue is gorgeous — both classy and comfortable with a great view of the craft distillery process. Damien and his brothers took us on a very thorough and informative tour(these guys really know their stuff!) and let us taste-test a bunch of their products. I was in love with the rye whiskey. A family owned and operated business, they focus on small-batch craft distilling and making the best product for local consumption. For more, check out the upcoming post on my blog:

Tours typically need to be organized in advance, and Damian was gracious enough to offer us a tour of the distillery, providing indepth detail about the entire distilling process– from grain to bottle. I loved being able to see behind the scenes and learn all about the barrel aging process. We were able to sample their spirits in the bar area, which was really lovely for events. I really enjoyed the bourbon but everything they offer represents small-batch, craft spirits at their best. A really amazing thing about their facility is the ambience. From the private room to the bar and large event space, adjoining the glass-enclosed distilling area, the facility is really beautiful with rich wood and leather details making it nice for weddings or private events. It’s rather a hidden gem because it’s unassuming in a warehouse.

I recently attended a wedding at The Dark Horse Distillery. Before the wedding, I never even heard of the place. The space was absolutely beautiful and had a downtown loft feel. Behind glass walls you can see where they distill their Rider Vodka and Long Shot White Whiskey. The ceilings are high with exposed piping and hanging from the ceiling is beautiful lighting. There were tables throughout the large room and there was a space for a dance floor. It wasn’t a large wedding so the space was big enough. There are also dark leather couches that add to the cozy, masculine feel of the place. In the main room, there was a kitchen, which I didn’t like. I thought it took something away from the space. There was a great patio with a fire pit and ample seating around it. It was a great place to hang out on the unseasonably mild winter night! In another room connected to the main room was the bar. My friend had an open bar, but since this was a distillery, they didn’t have too many options. I stuck with their Rider Vodka and thought it was pretty good. I usually prefer potato vodka, but this vodka used wheat. I thought it was pretty smooth for wheat vodka. Behind the bar was a huge display wall of the vodka and whiskey. I thought it was a really cool space and a great place to have a wedding. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a decent place to have a small to average sized event.
