So everyone has to carve out a niche among the Catholic schools in the area. St. James has managed to carve out two: athletics and piety. Unabashedly built by serious Catholics for serious Catholics, St. James doesn’t give you any doubts about what their entire focus is. When you walk through the front entrance of the school you are confronted with the chapel. It is at the center of the students’ daily social and school life and students here, whether they are personally religious or not, do respect the primacy of place. Then there’s the Thunder. When you consider the school only fielded its first senior class 2 years ago, it’s amazing to consider that they were already producing championship teams and recruited-heavily athletes. But they were. Only drawback? It’s out in the middle of nowhere. Now, this means your campus rocks, is beautiful, and is all brand spanking new. But you’re going to have to drive to get there.
