Very nice clean, vibrant well frequented Mexican spot. Went for lunch and was happy with everything. Server Carla was delightful and very attentive even when I asked for napkins three times because I kept dropping them! Salsa and chips were good could have used more cilantro for my taste. Chile Releno with chicken tasty and ample. Taco generous fresh and satisfying. I say go here. Four stars from this Unilocaler from NOLA.

Stopped for lunch on a sunny afternoon. Had the pup with us and I was happy they allowed pets on outside patio. Chips with bean dip and salsa. Service was fast and awesome. The waiter took time to explain how they cook their nopales and it was delicious. Hubby had the carne asada and I had the burrito California. Both were excellent. 5 stars for the amazing food and service. We will definitely add this to our pup friendly list of restaurants.

The food was served hot and fast. The prices for the amount of food you get is great. The wait staff is amazing.

This place was great. This has got to be some of the best Mexican food I have had. The prices were very reasonable and the service was excellent.

I was pleased to see another dip for the chips offered beside the salsa. I ordered the huevos rancheros and wasn’t wowed by it. No one left hungry, for sure. Our service was quick, with the exception of paying, but it was explained that there was a staff shortage(as it was the day after Christmas, that might make sense).

Great Mexican. Similar to other Mexican restaurants in North Carolina, but much better. Service has always been great. Recommend.

We just moved to Lenoir from Texas. We stopped here for lunch today and were amazed how good the food is. What a relief! This place was every bit as good as a high priced Tex-Mex place back in Dallas at about ½ the price. Truth be told, except for Javier’s in Dallas, Dos Amigos climbs to the top of the«hey I can afford this» list. Javier’s is $$$$$(bohica pricing) whereas Dos Amigos is $. I had the Chicken Chimichanga and rice and a bowl of queso blanco on the side and couldn’t help but inhale it, no less take a picture. When we arrived in the area we were told that El Paso was the best Mexican restaurant in the area. I beg to differ, they’re decent, but nowhere close to Dos(Amigos.

Fast service. Bright, clean, new décor and atmosphere. Food was fresh and acceptable, but nothing special and somewhat bland. This seems like the best choice for Mexican type fare in Lenoir.

I went here last night based on the reviews posted. was brought chips and salsa plus another dip all was very yummy. ordered garlic shrimp which came with rice and avocado salad(lettuce, avocado, and pico de gallo). the dish came with at least a dozen shrimp and nice big chunks of garlic. only complaint is that some of the shrimps needed to be cleaned better but I would go back and try them again

All I said in the previous review stands, but I have found there are a number of items, especially on the specialties portion of the menu, that are much more flavorful, spicy and authentic-tasting than the mainstream items on the menu. The California fajitas, for instance, were a big surprise, much more flavorful than ordinary fajitas. I would not normally think of a Mexican restaurant as a place for wings, but one night we tried the sampler in the appetizer menu that had a little of several of the appetizers, and the wings were pretty good.

The food– remarkable, hot, and expedited quickly. The one word that stands out the most when I eat here(as I frequently do) is AUTHENTIC. The staff greet me with a smile and warm welcome. My experience at Dos Amigos is consistently a five star. I recommend the Taquitos, Chicken Burritos, and Enchiladas-all superb choices. Also, if you like HOT sauce ask the server. It is not on the menu but they have some in the back and it is SPICY.

Fresh Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican cuisine where the high country begins, in Lenoir. Start out with some fresh, table made, guacamole! It’s a nice taste of Mexico here in Lenoir. Freshly prepared guacamole is the best guacamole. Customize your guacamole as they prepare it for you table-side. To drink, try some homemade horchata or some of their several beers available. Mostly Mexican beer. I’ve been addicted to the steak tacos since I stsrted dining here, and for good reason. Juicy, fresh steak tacos cooked to order a la carte. Overall, a great dining experience in a very well kept and well managed restaurant. 4 stars, not 5 because I’m spoiled by authentic Mexican and Latin American cuisine by Los Izotes

It’s surprises like these that I do love to speak about. My husband and I decided to try on a whim last Wednesday. I have tried the one in Boone, and truthfully, was not a cheerleader. We decided to try, and happy to say, I really enjoyed the dinner this time. The décor was nice, newly done, and very relaxing. We got our drinks promptly and the service was very good. My husband got his favorite style«street tacos“as he says or Tacos Carbon, just simple, but very fresh, and good quality beef, and he loved the rice. It reminds him of this great hole in the wall style family restaurant in Texas. I got the rib eye, but decided to try corn tortillas, instead of the flour. A great twist, and wonderful flavor. The rib eye was cooked nicely, not overcooked, nor was it all grisley, bleh. The prices were very fair, a great surprise all around, and I will be happy to say I will be back!

No way I could give Dos Amigos anything but 5 stars, because: 1) the restaurant is always as clean as clean can be; 2) the waitstaff are as nice, and accommodating as the food is great; 3) the presentation(especially for their house entrees) is first class; 4) their prices are extremely fair for whatever you order; and 5) their food is not only the best I’ve had in the county(and there’s at least five places I’m comparing them to), but it’s consistently great. Note: what’s kinda funny about #3 above, is that when the food is placed in front of you, the LAST thing you’re going to be thinking is «gee, I should photograph this» — it looks that good — but digging in is just unavoidable, and every time I think of shooting a picture I’ve already consumed a good portion of the meal! Another quick note is that like Guy, I also lived in Arizona before I got here, and Dos Amigos, to me, is as good as any Mexican restaurant I’ve eaten at in AZ. The only difference are garnishes, like cocktail limes, Mexican onions, and maybe a grilled jalapeño — but we don’t have the abundance of the kinds of produce that’s available near the border, or California. Yet I know if you ask for something in particular, if it’s available, they’ll get it for you! I’ve eaten at Dos Amigos at least a dozen times, and although I can’t afford to eat out more than a couple times a week, they’ve been my «go to» or «can’t ever go wrong”-type of place, and I’ve wound up eating there at least once a week. I always avoid the big lunch and dinner crowds wherever I go, yet I’d speculate that busy or not, you’ll be well taken care of whenever you go. I’ve eaten there about 15 times, and never left feeling anything but glad I went there. I’ve tried several of their lunch specials(ends at 3pm) that are mostly around $ 5, and between the meal itself and great, fresh tortilla chips, salsa and bean dip, it’s just an all around perfect place. One of my favorite house special meals, I’ve ordered the beef tacos al carbon($ 8.99), and they’re out of this world good. It’s beef sliced julienne style, and it’s all flame seared, giving each slice a char-grilled flavor that sets them a world apart from any kind of ‘normal’ everyday taco. It’s presented on a rectangular plate, garnished with fancy sliced, fresh avocado, with a great green salsa. You also get a side plate of a carefully placed ‘cone’ of rice, with black beans as a garnish. I plan to try the chicken version soon, and I’m sure it’s as good. I must’ve driven by them a thousand times, and I just figured they’d be «just another Mexican restaurant», but as soon as I came through the door it was obviously a high quality place. I can’t say enough about how incredibly nice and attentive the waitstaff are, and the host(and manager), Gonzala, makes sure you’re being well taken care of. I live a half mile from Pancho Villa’s, and comparing their food to Dos Amigos is like comparing a TV dinner to gourmet cooking. They have locations in Conover, Blowing Rock and Boone as well. The Lenoir restaurant has been here since the summer of 2014. I can only hope their business is a complete success because they’re a true asset to the community. Do yourselves a favor, if you love Mexican cuisine, this is the place to go! My ONLY suggestion to the proprietors would be to get a lot of ceiling fans installed — they’re going to be very much needed during the warmer months.

We have been to this location quite often. We have always received attentive service from the time we walk in to the time we leave. The servers help each other by bringing chips/salsa, drinks, and food. The food has always been good, healthy portion sizes, and reasonably priced.
