We started coming here when my wife was pregnant and had a hankering for samgyupsal. Because of the service, generous portions, reasonable prices, and excellent quality, we are now regulars.

This is my favorite Korean restaurant in NJ. I’ve been going this place since they were opened 3 yrs ago. Never went wrong. Waitresses are always nice and fast. Foods are great. SsamBap is one of my best here. This is like a hidden gem in NJ.

Delicious Duck Slices This Jersey Korean joint did me some justice. The banchan variety was decent. I liked the dried anchovies and the fermented soy bean stew that came along with our meatstravaganza. I had the duck slices, the pork rib, and marinated Kalbi. The wait staff was attentive considering we were the only patrons there. The pork rib was pretty good and almost tasted like the marinated beef Kalbi. One peculiar thing was that they pre-grill these meats for you in an undisclosed location and they bring the grill pan and place it on top of the grill in the table. It gives the experience a fast-food type of feel, which takes away from the whole Korean BBQ experience. I like seeing all my meat raw before I chow down. The best type of meat was the paper thin duck slices. Not a lot of Korean BBQ places offer this cut. The duck was the only meat that came to the table raw and was cooked from start to finish. The grill was on a slant and had a spout in the middle that drained all of the duck fat mixed in with some grilled Kimchi juices. I almost wanted to ask to pack the duck fat home, to make some home fries in the morning but I regretfully refrained .The grilled Kimchi is a nice touch and should be a staple in every Korean BBQ experience. The duck was succulent and awesome with a little of the sesame oil. If you decide to go to this spot, I recommend the duck and nothing else.

One of the few Korean food joints on broad street in Leonia. It is not a huge restrict ant. Service is quick and friendly. Good selection of side dishes. There can be a wait on weekend specially for dinner.

First time here. Stopped for lunch with family. Banchan offerings were plentiful. I had the fish Katsu which was excellent. It was crispy and flaky. The sauce was flavorful and the shredded cabbage was a great addition to the dish. Others had stews and hot pots. Everyone was pleased with their dishes… The service was good although when they were clearing the table next to us it was kind of loud as they were banging the dishes.

Rudest manager!!! Food was pretty standard for a Korean restaurant and the service for the most part was ok. That is what the two stars are for. My family was there for my brother’s birthday and had finished our dinner and were just finishing some conversation and the manager just kept coming over telling us that we had to get up and go because there were people waiting. In the meantime there were 3 empty tables about the same size that she could have seated people at while we took like 3 minutes to finish wishing my brother happy birthday. When my mother tried to explain that we were about to leave, just chill for a second, this woman starts mouthing off at her and tells her next time to go to a cheap coffee shop rather than her restaurant(not sure how this even makes sense)! I get if its busy you want to turn tables but I have never had a situation where the manager literally tells you to get out bc now that we have paid we are no use to her. So while the serving staff was good, the food wasnt anything amazing to suffer this woman’s rudeness. I know Korean restaurants arent known for exceptional service but this was just beyond. I would just go to another place in the area where you wouldnt be treated like this. An upsetting end to the birthday for sure!

Forgot to post this last week. This place is called Miga in Leonia and it’s a real Korean restaurant. In the top left corner that’s a whole bunch of different vegetables. Can’t name them and I probably don’t know what they even are. But I tried each of them and some of real good and others were eehhh. Top right corner is Squid dish that I can’t remember the name of. Bottom left and what my mother had and it was a beef short rib dish. Middle photo was what was left and I murdered it. Bottom right is some drink the Koreans drink after they eat their food. It was a interesting drink that I drank in one shot. Very interesting spot but I enjoyed it.

Miga is a gem in Leonia! I’d say that they are rivals with Kaya Garden(also in Leonia), but I can’t give a fair comparison of both until I try the gaejang(marinated raw crabs) & ssam bap(spicy pork with all the fixings) at both spots. I love coming to Miga for lunch. The banchans(complimentary sides) are always plentiful and well made. Nothing irks me more than a restaurant that gives only veggie banchans. I am not a rabbit. I love their boodae stew, intestine stew, fish cutlet, pork neck bone stew, and ssam bap. The spicy pork is a generous portion and they give you a BUNCH of diff veggies to wrap those beauties in. Pretty sure there was at least one veggie that I did not recognize. You will notice that they do not skimp on their ingredients. For example, if you order the boodae stew, it is swimming with meat! Gotta love their generosity :)

My wife and I was craving for korean food lately. Been years that we haven’t eaten such delicious food. So we searched on Unilocal! Then she found this«Miga» a korean restaurant. We went together there for lunch l. Boy! It was delicious. Nice and comfortable place. Location is easy to navigate. Just minutes away from our home. Appetizers are so satisfying and the main dish, SamGyupSal & Spicy Beef Stew was mouth-watering. On top of that they had Biofeel/Yakult together with the Bill. Highly recommended. Will be back with friends and family.

You only get 3 out of 5… why? Why do Koreans eat out when they can just cook at home? So that we can feel a tad bit pampered… The food, I can not deny is pretty good here. The service on the other hand. 1. Waitress/Owner are rude. 2. Very slow with getting water/tea etc 3. Refuses to replace anything for you (I would totally understand if 1. my family weren’t regulars there 2. If it was all premade and they had to bring it out together.) The last time my family went there was a bit over a month ago. We ordered the SAMBAB,(jeyook bokkeum with rice and comes with doenjang jjigae) We had also ordered something else taht comes with doenjang jjigae as well so we asked if they can just give us kimchi jjigae for one. and of course the waitress very nastily said, no you can’t do that. You can order a kimchi jigae if you so like. We were like, well we have 3 doenjangjjigaes coming out because of the other meals. is there no way you can replace it.(cost to make is the same if not less for the kimchi) She said no, we can’t do that because it’s a set menu, you can’t replace. We were so surprised by her reaction. I don’t really know if I’d go there again on my own will.

food is moderate to good but their service isn’t so great. The hostess(or the owner) isn’t so welcoming. I am not sure if she was in a bad mood or what but she would frown her face for asking any questions. Don’t have to smile but no need for frowning face to the customers! I don’t plan on going back to this restaurant. There are plenty of other Korean restaurants near by.

Frankly, the food is good. Nothing spectacular but I am writing this review to share something I found in my meal. I’ve eaten here 4 times and no problem but ordered(budae stew) the 5th time. I found a piece of a metal sponge in it. So was it carelessly left or caught in the pot when cleaning? If so, very careless since it is quite large. If not were they using a metal sponge on the food or protein for some reason? My worst thought was scraping off mold. Either way it is worth noting. 2 stars for the first four times I’ve been there but probably won’t go back anymore Eat at your own risk like everywhere else

There’s a reason why this place is always steadily busy during lunchtime even when there are many many other Korean restaurants on the same road. This review is for my lunch experiences only. Been coming to Miga for several months now and the food was excellent from the beginning and continues to remain very consistent and delicious. My usual dish here is the buddae jjigae(kimchi jjigae with sausages, spam, ramen noodles.tofu.yum!). Hands down the best buddae jjigae I’ve had(outside my parents’ house, of course). Kunjip’s down the road is comprable, but Miga’s is better. The spread of banchan they put out is also of good variety and quality. I really enjoy coming here for lunch, it’s great Korean food. The service is good and the same ladies that were here from the start continue to work here, so it’s nice to see a friendly face that you know. I think they are BYOB, so coming here with a bottle of soju or wine might be a good idea also.

Let me say: the staff is extremely friendly and polite here! Our waitress was awesome. She even helped my boyfriend mix in his food. She also warned me what appetizers(which there are many) are vegetarian friendly. However, only downfall is that there aren’t many vegetarian-friendly options here. :-/ I got myself some spicy tofu soup with vegetarian broth and no egg. It was really good(and super hot when it came out), which was great. Sometimes though I wish there was more than 1 – 2 options. But I’ll definitely be returning for the soup!

Another one of the local korean eateries in the north NJ area. I was turned on to Miga by my korean pals and as with a lot of these places its best to go with them in tow. The banchan here was a little unusual. A lot more vegetable dishes, some I hadn’t seen at other korean places. They had some chilled pickles which were really tasty among fish cakes and kimchi. The ubiquitous radishes that you always get at other places were markedly absent. As for the main course we had a tofu stew with an order of grilled fish. The fish was flavorful, and very crispy on the outside but soft enough on the inside to be easily picked apart with chopsticks. The stew was very greasy and rich(in a good way) and felt really satisfying as you’re eating it and afterwards. I want to try their bbq next time since I’m always on the look out for good kalbi.

So this was my first ever Korean BBQ experience and it was delicious! I went with my two Korean girlfriends who said they would order for me and give me a real Korean BBQ experience. We walked into the restaurant and were greeted my the waitress, waited for our table to be cleared and sat down. My friends were in charge of ordering so they got the steak that is marinated in what seemed to be a terriaki sauce, and the pork belly. Once you place your order they immediately come out with so many little plates filled with vegetables, kimchi, roasted garlic, and many things that I didn’t have the slightest clue about but i mixed and matched and found some really nice flavor combinations. I’m excited to come back and try something different.

My husband are new to the area and we stopped in to try the bibimbap. Pretty quiet on a Sunday, food smelled great.(Reasonably priced although lunch is cheaper so, I’d recommend stopping by at lunch time.) We got ice tea upon arrival and the hostess took our order. The hostess was very helpful and gave us some great advice on what to eat, as well as, explanations about some of the dishes. Food came out fast, was hot and delicious! Everyone was very helpful and nice. We cannot wait to go back and try some of their other dishes!

I stumbled into this place by an accident and had a very interesting experience in terms of food and service. Yes, it is totally love and hate right now. I love the taste of their food. It’s probably one of the best in this area and always crowded. It’s small space so make sure to get there on time. Mackerel(Go Deunger) and Korean Miso Soup(Daeunjang Jjigae) combo($ 14.99) is great lunch meal. Fish is cooked just right and pretty meaty as well. The soup is made with chopped squash and peppers mixed with tofu chunks and pork bites. Ssam Bop Combo($ 34.99) for 2 people has tons of fresh vegetables and you have a choice of beef or spicy pork. It comes with Korean Miso Soup and the normal side dishes that are pretty fresh. It’s plenty of food for 3 in my opinion. Only complain was this interesting episode with one of the waitresses. So I asked for some water and asked when the food was coming out. She literally turned around and slowly started walking with that«talk to the hand because the face is busy» motion and said«It will come out when it is ready.» Wow. Talk about bad attitude. But I get that a LOT with the ladies so it must be me. I must agitate them somehow. Other than that, I highly recommend giving this place a try. I have not been there during dinner so not sure what else to recommend. Happy Eating!

I came here with Boo Boo for dinner. It was bitterly cold outside and I wanted a hot soup or stew to fatten me up. The restaurant is nice and clean. The banchan was substantial. Lettuce with thousand island seems to be served at every Korean place. I ordered a fish soup and boo boo ordered the short rib stew. Both dishes met my expectations for being hot and comforting. The stew was really good for me because the meat was fall off the bone tender. The bathroom had this crazy toilet seat. Check it out yourself. This place might be a good reason for me to visit Leonia.

Excellent Korean food, suprirsed this place has so few reviews. Great selection of banchan for lunch as well as a well portioned soup for 15 bucks, not bad at all. Nice waitress. Atmosphere: Anyway got in here and the waiters/waitresses said«Annyeong Haseyo.» I didn’t hear much other english in here. Place itself was clean. Some people were having bbq but most were having soup. Families and solos but families seem to be a better idea, espec due to portions. Banchan Kimchi(duh): Solid, did not have that much as I was concentrating on the other ones. Super spicy Kkakdugi(kimchi style radish): Better crunch than other places Miyeok: seweeed with sweet vinegar and salt: Good flavors, have had this before, not super sweet here, texture was a bit different as well. Dubu-jorim– Tofu simmered in diluted soy sauce, a little bit of sesame oil, minced garlic, and chopped green onion: Was solid, a bit spicy as well, remnded me of dan dan but with silken tofu instead of noodles. Myulchi Bokkeum(Stir-fried anchovies): Had some spicy pepers as well, a bit hard to eat but very addicting Kongjaban: Sweet and salty soybeans: Delicious little nutty sweet portions of goodness, nothing much to say Personal favorite was the sweetened soybeans and the fish, almost all were at the top of what I had, most of them at the top. Sorry if any of these are slightly wrong, I am going with some memory here and my knowledge of banchan isn’t exactly amazing. Main dish: Stew(last one on the menu) Beef(bulgogi) with glass noodles and rice cakes(Garaetteoks) [along with some vegetables like onion, egg, etc.] It was either 12.99 or 11.99, i think 12.99 Rice cakes had a nice texture, broth reminded me of bulgogi, kinda sweet. Poriton was massive. I’d give it a 4.25 if this was the only thing served but the great ban chan and nice service push it up more than a notch. 4.75÷5 Probability of going back: 80% BTW, Not sure if they accept credit cards, paid with cash
