I arrived on Sunday night late at 8:50, sign on door states closing at 9:30. At 9:15 they cleared away all the cold food which isn’t right. If they plan to do that then the sign on the door should state 9pm or 9:15. It is NOT polite or reasonable to start clearing food trays so that customers feel uncomfortable or rushed . I have been here many times but never near closing… the manager did offer a slight discount but as a restaurant I think that they should really consider changing the closing times on their door.

A-OK …by default only. Why? Because if you are on Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown and want to make a total pig out of yourself… the Old Country Buffet has closed! DAMN! I will miss their fried chicken(that actually tasted like old style Chicken Delight chicken!) So Chen’s is as basic as you can get. It’s never crowded in there ever(is that a bad thing OR a good thing?). But the barometer for all greasy oily crusty Chinese Buffets is this: I did not get sick from it(and I have been there probably 10 times). Wahoooo!!! One minor peeve that all buffets have been doing: no more soft serve ice cream machines – they now have horrible Hersheys Ice Cream dixie cups that taste like… nothing. That chocolate waterfall looks like a magnet for dirty fingers, coughs and sneezes. I will return here… but I am not proud of the fact.

This is by far one of the best Chinese buffets I’ve been to. The selection of food is great whether you’re there for lunch or dinner. I won’t say I’ve never had better Chinese food, but for a buffet, it’s amazingly good. The staff is always courteous and they clear away used plates quickly. My husband and I eat the quite often and are never disappointed.

This place is awful! Legitimately the worst establishment I’ve eaten at in years! All the food was stale and cold, they GAVEUSRECYCLEDWATER, OUTOFOTHERTABLESCUPS! The waitress denied us new water out of the pitcher when we requested it, an utterly awful experience, negative 5 stars.

Went on a Sunday evening with a large party and there was no wait. The food is good and Chen’s has a large variety of food. For $ 12.99 you can’t go wrong. They receive 4 starts because the waiter staff was extremely friendly. My waitress checked on us several times to make sure everything was okay and our drinks were full.

When my daughter and I walked in we were seated right away. There wasn’t really anyone there. Lunch time on a Tuesday. We got our drinks and went to grab a plate of food. For a buffet it was pretty decent. Very clean, food was delicious and the sushi was very good, not sloppy as mentioned in another review. It’s a buffet the sushi was put together on one plate in a buffet manner. My waited was very attentive and respectful. I would def go back here.

My wife and I went to Chen’s buffet for lunch. I had not been to this buffet for a couple of years but remembered it as being pretty good. What a difference time makes. Firstly the place was pretty empty for a Friday afternoon. I had about 6 different dishes. The egg rolls were terrible and seemed old and reheated. Most of the food I ordered was either very poor or seemed old and reheated. The only decent dish was the spring rolls which were OK. This was a big letdown for me and it seems that some of my favorite dishes such as eggplant with garlic sauce and Chinese meatballs were missing. The price to value ratio is about average for this type of restaurant. All in all this was a poor experience and I will not be returning in the future.

2nd visit and today they receive a rating of three(3)., I was extremely disappointed. Pepper shrimp were hard and dry as if it was left under the heating light too long., same with what supposedly their coconut shrimp., without any visible sauce or trace of coconut. Salad bar didn’t have a great appearance., nor were their any cucumbers, tomatoes for toppings. What disturb me the most was smelling bleach on the oysters, shrimp., and boiled eggs. Sushi department presentation could have been label better., because the gentleman was more concerned with his mobile device over assistance to description of Sushi. Establishment wasn’t crowded at all when we arrived., soon as the hostess kindly walked us to our booth. Chen buffet suddenly got overwhelmed with pedestrian waiting to be seated. There were large parties of ten — seventeen., and twenty guests that quickly filled the restaurant. Maneuvering around the buffet section became an issue. Children carrying on as if they were in a playground or on neighbor play dates. Ridiculous.

LoL where do I begin… So I’ve been here once before and I remember it being pretty cheap and decent, so I decided to come last Saturday for their $ 8.49 lunch buffet. The meal came out to $ 10.84 w/a soda and I added $ 2 for tip. My server was friendly and responsive so props to him; I appreciate that. I always start by getting some sushi when I’m at a Chinese Buffet… Never expect anyting stellar but I was kind of appalled by what I saw in the sushi section. It looked like a 2nd grade art project gone wrong. All their rolls were cut in thick slabs and dreched in heavy sauces. I felt like I was putting hocky pucks on my plate. They didn’t have the simple salmon or tuna only rolls, so I got California rolls and a few others. I have to say that the sushi did taste fresh, but I wish they cut it at normal size. I went to the Hibachi grill next. I got some mei fun noodles with shrimp and veggies. Props to the dude who cooked it as he did everything I asked for, but the final product was terrible. Noodles were mad watery and sauces just didn’t go together. Unfortunately, I must report that I suffered a bout of explosive diarrhea in the men’s bathroom at Chen’s right after I ate these noodles, so something went wrong.: -( As with other Chinese Buffets, the rest of the items were just too heavily sauced and laced with MSG to enjoy. Chinese Buffets seem to specialize in this and Chen’s was no different. Sigh. I gotta mention some positives to try to keep this as fair as possible. 1) There’s a lot of selection. 2) The place is relatively clean for a Chinese Buffet. 3) Chocolate Fountain was good. 4) Prices are mad low for a Buffet(at least lunch on Saturday). 5) My server was friendly and responsive. Quick comment on the atmosphere of this place. There was a heavy, oppressive, grease-filled hot cloud that permeated the place when I came. It made me feel nasty right when walking in and just wasn’t comfortable. A lot of the employees walking around looked miserable; I felt pretty bad. So can’t say I recommend Chen’s, but keep in mind that I’m pretty biased because I tend to not enjoy Chinese Buffets in general.

Not bad food! They have a solid sushi supply there with an excellent diversity. They have standard American fare as well as Asian. The quality is decent, especially for the price. Also the chocolate fountain is pretty killer!

Good place good food whoever the guy that seats people, with a person in a wheelchair. You think he can pull some chairs out so that my friend can sit at the table in his wheelchair, thanks I’ll enjoy my dinner, rude man.

As Chinese buffets go, this is the best, cleanest, and freshest around at an affordable price. The Asian buffet a few miles away on Glen Cove road is a little better, but more than twice the price(they have king crab legs). This as a chocolate fountain, clams on a half shell.

This is a nice place to eat. They have a variety of food(appetizers, main, and desserts). The one thing is though, for some reason the food can be a little too buttery, I don’t know why they need to add so much grease to certain foods. The fish would be fine without that much butter! Parking is more convenient during buffet hours on weekdays.

A high quality Chinese buffet in the Nassau County. We dined out when all restaurants closed early at Super Bowl Night. Great service and large selection. Ice cream is from Hersey. Will return!

The service is ok. The food is ok. The kids love it because of the chocolate fountain and they get to dip marshmallows! I dont like them much. Their California rolls are very chewy.yuck. Their stir fry is not bad.

Let me tell you what you get for $ 12.99: — Unlimited food at their buffet — Over 100 dishes to choose from said buffet — Fresh food that is constantly being refilled — A chocolate fountain where you can dip marshmallows, macaroons, etc. — Sushi made right in front of you — Crab legs For 2 people, on Christmas Day(my family celebrates Xmas Eve, not Day, therefore Chinese it is!) the bill with 2 sodas came out to $ 30. The staff is very friendly and they have PLENTY of seating. The décor is a bit rundown and could use a serious touch-up but the food is good and fresh. They also have a microwave so if something is not at your desired temperature, you can zap it.
