i have to admit that it’s worth driving long distance to this nice place. it’s really a nice restaurant with excellent service. i’ve been here before several times. Since it changed the owner, it improve a lot depends on the original flavour. i like shanghai cousin but don’t prefer too much sweetie. but here chef make the food just right to my taste. especially not put too much oil while they cooking. i highly recommend this place to whom enjoy healthy-food. PS: the landlady always very kind and pay much patient to the guest.

although it has changed the owner, it still surprised me by its new dish flavour. As a idiomatic shanghainese taste picky, they served not only traditional menu but also with reformism sashimi. food material is no doubt extremely fresh and delicately made. i don’t think its almost like the previous restaurant, but it’s worth to called“whatever you are eating, there is certainly authentic”. The most deeply moved thing is some staffs speak shanghainese like i’m eating at my home. The landlady always nice, if you got any requirements, she will look into you right away…

This must have changed hands at some point. The food is definitely not what it used to be. They sent inedible chicken legs and undercooked spring rolls. You literally could not tell the difference between the sesame chicken and the general tso’s with the exception of a few sesame seeds sprinkled on top of the ‘sesame chicken’. Two stars for pleasant phone service and quick delivery. If you looking for good Chinese, search elsewhere.

Well, all I can think is that the previous reviewers were regulars of the old owners and are really upset that it’s gone. This place is really not as bad as those reviews make it out to be. The service was quick and friendly right from the beginning, and stayed that way throughout my meal The food was tasty, yes, I have had better Hot and Sour Soup, but I’ve also had much worse. It needed a little more vinegar for sourness, and was not as spicy as I prefer, but still quite acceptable. My main course was Spicy Fish with Tofu, and that was quite tasty, and fairly spicy. The serving portion was also quite acceptable and not too small at all. Overall, a pleasant dining experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to return to try some other dishes.

There are few things worse, in the world of dining, when you walk into a favorite restaurant and see a new menu and a new man in a suit standing at the host station. Hunan gourmet was an award-winning Chinese restaurant for years. Surprising that they did a long, large renovation and just a couple of years later sold the place. For whatever reason, this place is pretty much earmarked for failure now. The chemistry isn’t there; food is lower quality; presumably because the chef has moved on. But this place had the strength in its ownership, so I will just pass on any future visits. There is a new location for Hunan Gourmet so I will probably just patronize that place exclusively.

This place was not good at all! Food was bland. It took over 15 minutes to take our order. My friend found a bug in his water. We were there over an hour and got two apps chicken wings and boneless spareribs. We paid for that and left. New owners. Used to be hunan dynasty. Do not recommend.

Used to be Hunan which was our go to for Chinese take-out. New owners, higher prices, much smaller portions and they use MSG which is different from the old place. The place was packed so I thought I’d give it a try any way once I realized the change. No taste to the Hot and Sour soup, just heat and salt. The«gourmet combo» had a ladle size portion of entrée, a scoop of rice, two small chips of rib, the pork fried rice was more steamed than having that smokey flavor from the wok. The eggroll was more the size of a small spring roll – with no taste whatsoever. NOT worth 18.50. The fried dumplings were covered in oil, the skins were slick and not edible. The sesame chicken was extremely sweet, and again that oil slick was present

While getting our appetizers and eating noodles they provide, my father turns and grabs a ROACH with his napkin off the wall & as if that wasn’t bad enough a strand of black hair twirled up in my chicken Lomein & sesame chicken. Just the thought of sitting in that restaurant makes me itch and quiver.
