Im crying the blues today and last night when I heard they closed this location. I am so sad. I cant believe this. THey where always busy and packed. There is no explanation why they shut down. DOes anyone know if they will be opening up another one or under Ryans Possibly or Golden Coral? I am going to miss OCB. I had my wedding reception there 3 years ago, everyone enjoyed it.

This place has me under it’s spell(or curse?). We eat here till we are ready to vomit and say«Never Again». Then«again» comes a few weeks later. So we go again! Repeat cycle. Eat too much, to the point of when I wish there was a nurse’s office in the back that I could lay down in. Then place a phone call to my parents to come pick me up and take me home like I did in grade school! I wish I could stop but I can’t! HELPME!!! — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – Truth be told: the fried chicken here is sooooo good. It actually tastes like the OLD style Chicken Delight chicken from decades ago! And if ya think about it; I think a SINGLE bucket of KFC is about $ 24.00 now – therefore 2 people can eat here for that price of that one bucket with all the sides! The mashed potatoes here are great– as it the gravy & cornbread stuffing ! So yeah, basically I come here and treat it as if it’s a better grade KFC. Things that are bad here: the mac & cheese tastes fake(read: Velveeta-y), the«Mexican Bar» is awful and hurts your tummy after one taco. Skip the soups(salt bombs) the«Italian» food(Ragu Bombs) and the desserts(Entenmanns Bombs). The salad bar seems sketchy and their Blue Cheese dressing is watery and no lil’ chunks of blue cheese floatin’ around. The fried fish is lousy as are the popcorn shrimp & french fries. The person that works the meat cutting station is usually NASTY and UN-helpful and gives you one tiny slice of something and seems to want to slice YOU if you ask for a little more. Sometimes the unbridled parents of East Meadow & Levittown let their kids run wild like the wind & poke their darling little fingers into the foods in the buffet trays(yuk). Things that are good here: The manager is a nice guy and MOST of the workers are nice & helpful(So why are the meat cuttin’ station people so horrible? Are they getting paid less? I have no idea). The place is BIG with lots of tables so even on a busy night you have room. The meatloaf is excellent as are the chicken pot pies(pot pies only on Tuesday nights, I think). The pot roast is also good. Gravy & rolls are excellent. Place is fairly clean. The soft serve ice cream is harmless enough. I do not eat ribs or any barbeque meats but my friends that come here approve when they occasionally have them here. I’d AVOID here on Sundays — huge crowds after-Church that only simmer down later in the evening(I guess it would be safe to come here after 7:00PM?) Best time to come here: weeknights between 5&6PM. It will fill up just as your are leaving – which is perfect. I usually tip much higher here for the workers are nice & work hard in a most un-glamourous situation. I like to go next door to Unique Thrift Store to «walk off» my fattening food & see all the original ghosts & fixtures there were Mays Department store back in the old fashioned days of Long Island(the 1970s). One last complaint: the Carving station ALWAYS has ham & roast beef – and rarely has sliced turkey(which I love– don’t eat ham or roast beef so much).

Haven’t been here in years. But the quality of service, food, and choices, really did improve. Serve yourself. And enjoy. Get here early enough, and the food is really fresh. The staff is super friendly and ready to help. Its good.

I decided to go to the Old country buffet for breakfast after not visiting in about 10 years. I was much younger and use to love this place. We arrived about 10:15 on a Sunday afternoon before the rush came in. The cashier was friendly and the line moved fast. So it was time to eat, there was grits, oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, hash browns, fried chicken, biscuits and an omelette station. Honestly the only good thing there was the fried chicken and waffles. Everything else fell short but what did i expect. The dessert station was lack luster as well. I will not be returning again.

This has got to be the worst place I have ever eaten at. The place was dirty, smelly and in complete disarray. The food was terrible. Tasteless, dry! I know it’s a buffet but I’ve never been to such a nasty dirty unorganized establishment. Not even the desert was eatable.

I was at old country buffet on Sept 8 The stuffing was so old. I requested my money back when I saw this the Manger gave me a free meal even after I saw food potato salad was water down the stuff in was so old look like they had it for weeks. The chef made a new stuffing took 25 minutes it wasn’t cooked enough was just to soft. They need to hire a new chef the bake chicken was so salty I felt my blood pressure go up. They have poor food an the chef needs to b replaced. Disappointed in this place we go here 2 times a week but now I won’t go back till the chef is fired an they get good food the food was just nasty next time I see that I take pictures n call news 12 to show the left over food they serve. Shame on old country buffet u need to straighten up or shut ur doors

Nothing great, nothing terrible. Decent selection of food that never seems to change. Unlimited blue raspberry ICEE makes it worth the price. Cotton candy machine shuts down at 8PM so plan your visit around that. The staff are generally very nice and friendly and bus the tables with the quickness.

I figured my wife and I would give Old Country Buffet another try, boy was that a big mistake. We went to the restaurant on Tuesday 8÷18÷2015 at 4:30 P.M. My wife got a salad and wanted some Ranch Dressing well there was none we asked a worker about the dressing and she said we ran out and we would have to make it but there is no one here to make it. WOW ! That’s not all most of the dishes were almost empty on the buffet tables the ice cream machine was leaking and the floor was sticky and wet so they put a caution barrier in front. there was only one person collecting soiled dishes so my wife and myself had to carry our plates to the storage bins. All soups were nearly empty ! I learned my lesson I will never go back to that place.

Came here for lunch, it’s cheap so you get what you pay for. There a lot of families and senior citizens. The booth where we sat, we had to wipe down ourselves before we sat down. The carpet is really dirty and sticky. The food is American comfort food done bad. The mashed potatoes are boxed and they taste that way. I could go on and on but frankly if you want to stuff your face and don’t care about quality just quantity and at a cheap price. This is the place.

Today my family went to the Old Country Buffet. We like the fried chicken and beef there. I showed a discount coupon on my cell phone. Join as a member and you can buy 1 get free dinner(from my friend’s recommendation). I spoke to the receptionist, she wasn’t sure so she called service manager Annelie Mackay. It was unbelievable. Ms Mackay was yelling to me in front of a lot of people. My baby &husband were there too. She reminded me of the movie Misery. Ms Mackay had a huge angry face. She sharply yelled«where is the barcode? I said there is no barcode.» She said«I am not going to give you a discount» . I am an Asian mom. I felt insulted and harrassed. She did not treat me as a client. There is no mention of any barcode with the AD. She made reason TONOTWELCOMEMEWITHNO barcode. I showed another AD dinner $ 8.99. She firmly refused. When the restaurant has no promotion, they should not advertise as such. The manager firmly and strictly refused any of the restaurant’s promotions and was yelling at me. I wanted go to the restaurant for a happy, family time. She made me very sad and upset in front of a lot of people and my 2year old baby. My baby felt fear and shock. Finally manager Annelie Mackay yelled to me «GETOUT!» I told her«I will call the police about your insult and harassing.» She gave me her business card and sarcastically said«go ahead!» This severe treatment totally went against my human rights! 100 different races live in New York. I wish the manager be more educated and a human being for the business and herself. She has to be careful when yelling to someone in front of all clients. She has to treat every client more appropriately with professional manager skill. Anger is not a solution to an Asian mom and her baby. Try respect and kindness o all clients. By the way, all of the food is very fresh and delicious. She refused me as client through the police. Without meeting the manager I could go there every Sunday with my family for an enjoyable day.

The food here taste disgusting. It taste exactly like a nasty TV dinner that you heat up in the microwave. Everything was nasty. I was disappointed because the food here when I was a kid was way better. Was surprised at how much the Quality of the Food here has changed. Will not be visited again. Yuck

Nothing to write home about but hits the spot if you’re starved for some down home American diversity. Quality? Not stellar but not horrible. I’d say…“okay“ Variety? Winner winner for more than one type of chicken dinner. Service? Honestly not a fan of the servers hanging by the carving area. Every so often, I’d see 3 workers leaning on the wall and seemingly complaining about work. Perhaps the only thing harder to palette than disgruntled employees may have been the overly vocal manager who occasionally yelled at her staff. I remember when my group and I first walked in and she came to scold the host. It was pretty awkward and uncomfortable. This isn’t to say every worker was difficult to bear. Our server was super nice, cleaned up our plates on time and did everything with a smile. Not sure of her name but she seemed to have a few regulars who liked to be under her care too. A little on the short side, Hispanic, and with a glowing smile. She’s the reason the review earned the 3 as opposed to 2 stars. Overall, a nice place to go with your friends to indulge on slightly above average food. Would I come back? Only cause I love American buffets!

I went back to old country buffet. The conditions have improved since the last review but it is like basic food with some improvement. Filling but not great. Service is good but sometimes the food is old or not replaced quickly. Ok for this type of operation. They coupon often by email. Lunch is better value than dinner.

You must realize that you are walking in to an inexpensive buffet and should not be expecting Peter Lugers or Mortons… It’s just an inexpensive buffet. Lots of food most just O.K. «comfort food,» but every time I have come here I found all the team members pleasant, and helpful. We usually come late as you can wind up waiting for a bit during peak dinner times. They get some very serious lines of people coming in, usually big families. The salad bar has always been well stocked and they offer a complete selection of items. Usually three soups and I usually go for the Chicken Noodle… Again, nothing spectacular but tasty. I like the fried chicken and the chicken pot pie(a new item.) My wife had the pot roast(also new.) Not bad, just needed a bit of salt. I also go for the popcorn shrimp and fish. They have a complete taco bar and hot table of all the extras… potatoes, mac and cheese, waffle. Never tried the ribs or extremely rare roast beef. I usually take very small plates of food and make multiple trips, this usually insures fresh hot food. They raised the price a buck and now include all you can drink, ice tea, soda, coffee… Makes sense as people were taking them anyway. There are always coupons in the papers and they are always e-mailing me some nice specials. I hear a lot of people complaining… You have to imaging mobs of people attacking the same food at the same time… This place must be a tough place to manage(the reason we usually come late.) but it does not deter me. Lots of desserts in small portions but I like their soft serve ice cream with the toppings. DONOT come here looking for a gourmet experience, just some well prepared comfort food that you will be eating with lots and lots of people, usually with lots and lots of kids.

On a Sunday evening recently, there was virtually no food left in several trays. The staff were extremely negligent in filling the empty trays and the«manager” — some blonde woman with a Eastern European accent was one of the rudest people I have ever met. An absolutely awful experience and one that I won’t make the mistake of repeating.

I’m in between feelings on Old Country Buffet. I’ve always enjoyed my visits here but this past Sunday was irritating. I have been there on busier days without a problem, so there are no excuses. This past Sunday they ran out of forks and knives. What is that?! Now there’s a crowd of people around where the utensils are supposed to be, our plates are already made so the food is getting cold, and the staff that is coming out to replenish the food keep saying«They’re coming, they’re coming!» I finally get my fork and I grab two more for my mom and my brother because I see how it is. I walk over to get my drink and there are no beverage glasses. People are putting soda in coffee and tea mugs! The second time I went to get a beverage, I didn’t realize my cup was dirty until I sat down at the table. I didn’t feel like walking back over to get another one so I just ate my plate and left. Wanted dessert but they killed my mood. Grabbed an ice cream cone and bounced. The food was good but the experience THIS time was AAAANNOOYYYIINNGG!

I don’t know about these other people in Unilocal but my experience here was great. Came here with my family and let me tell you I was amazed. There was a plethora of food across four or five different stations. We went on Thursday so they were serving breakfast starting at 5pm and the place was packed with families. The Belgian waffles were crispy and good, but the true star was the fried chicken. That chicken is some kind of good y’all don’t even know. I had a few other items as well teriyaki chicken, waffle fries, fried zucchini, and a Cobb salad. My grandmother was mastering several plates on her own. All you can eat and for a good low price, it’s a steal. My only complaint was that the kids were just running around like a scene out of World War Z, hungry and ravenous. 30 mins later the hostess had to announce that anyone under 11 must be accompanied by an adult. That was sort of a relief but by the time I went to get ice cream the kids had already beaten me to the punch. The topping stand was just remnants of its former glory but at least I got my ice cream with butterscotch. The experience was great and it was good to see families eating together and being happy. Bring your kids or your lover/partner in crime/mistress if you want and they’ll be satisfied.
