Went for the Sunday buffet, good variety and nice salad bar. Pork was a little dry, but very friendly owners and definitely yummy food!!! The tomato pie is delicious! Will be back!!!

I found this place on «101 Places to eat in West Virginia». I drove through Lewisburg and thought I would give it a try. So glad I did! It was Sunday, so all-you-can-eat buffet(you can also order off the menu). It was worth the price $ 15 for adults and $ 5 for kids. The food tasted great! My kids even ate the Brussels sprouts. The only downside was a few veggie items were not real hot on the buffet. Also ordered the ribs off the menu and they were fantastic! I will be back when I drive through again!

You know, I’ve come to find that when I’ve had a somewhat lackluster experience at a restaurant, I’ve decided against posting a review. Not so much for the fact that I could prevent others from experiencing an equally lackluster experience, but so that I’m not wasting my time — especially if the experience was the true definition of the word«mediocre».(If it’s really awful — oh yeah — you better believe I’m posting all right) The lunch we had at When Pigs Fly was the complete opposite of any mediocre or awful experience. Besides the fact that the owner was downright awesome, kind, and personable, their pulled pork and ribs(Hubby and I shared a Porker) left us both wanting more more more more. The ice cream finish to the meal was delicious — but like I told the owner, after I had said ice cream I wished I had more ribs or pulled pork to warm me back up again at the end of the meal. Their meat-served-naked-style also works, and you can sauce up your meal any way you like(I mixed a couple of sauces together to customize it the way I like). We had sides of mac and cheese and sweet potato fries — Hubby does not like sweet potato, but he loved their waffle sweet potato fries. That says something.(imagine a funnel cake crossed with an apple pie. There’s some vitamin A in there too for good measure. Yeah. All that.) Hubby and I also shared the salad bar. Nothing fancy, but the beets were crisp fresh, bacon bits were cuts off the ends they were cooking in the kitchen, and the greens were crisp, fresh, and clean. All I want for my salad. Their homemade roasted pepper dressing was also wonderful(the cook who usually makes their homemade thousand island dressing was out this particular afternoon. Go for the homemade dressing if it’s there. You won’t be disappointed.) Kids had the grilled cheese and fries. I tried not to cry in disappointment in a BBQ joint, but after having had her share of «eh, OK» grilled cheeses, Baby1 raved about her grilled cheese sandwich. Baby2 wolfed his meal down and enjoyed a sample of pork as well without much review. We went for the name. We went for the local joint stats. We went for local mom and pop eats. We came away with Baby1 wanting to go back for dinner(after arguing with us for a good part of half an hour before lunch that she didn’t want to go to this place because the name wasn’t serious enough). Next time we come through these parts, we will be back at their table.

My family enjoyed a large catered meal by these folks. All the meats were amazing– especially the ribs and beef brisket.

All the BBQ here was delicious, but the ribs were amazing! Get the ribs! Seriously, you can’t go wrong. We’ve stayed in Lewisburg, WV several times and at first we just stayed within the historic downtown area for food. We thought the place was a little out of the way, but we decided to drive to see how the food was. We were not disappointed. We left full with leftovers for our pup.

Good honest BBQ. The Sunday Buffet is good value. The meat selection is great and the sides were good. The ribs are excellent. These are dry rub and smoked for 18 hours. As a result the ribs were not fatty and extremely tender with a good hint of smoke flavor. However what makes this place stand out is the staff. It was great on a wet Sunday afternoon to chat with the owner and her staff learning about the history of the town and the history of her family recipes that make the food so dang good!

When Pigs Fly serves up delicious barbecue– very light and non-greasy. From a loaded baked potato that was topped with barbecue(enough for two people) to barbecue sandwiches that were made with buttered and grilled buns, all in my family of five enjoyed their meals. The owner’s jolly disposition made the meal very pleasurable in this super-casual eating establishment. He was happy to share how their business began, and he was willing to share how some of their food is prepared: on the smoker(even the potatoes).

You didn’t offer to make it right while we were in your restaurant that day when Kell ask how was our meal was, what could you possibly do to make our experience any better. We paid hard earned money for inferior food that we made you aware of then. You did nothing then why would think we should give you a second chance?!

Gotta have barbecue when you’re in West Virginia! Personally, I’m not a fan of barbecues, but since it’s my first time visiting WV, I feel that I had to check out their bbq. The way it’s cooked here is slow grilled, so the meat tend to be on the dryer side. We also got takeout, and there was no more barbecue sauce left. The meal was okay. I ordered the one with three types of meat and I enjoyed the ribs the most since it had the most flavors while the others lacked flavors and juiciness. The order came with two sides, and one of the sides I got was Mac and cheese since they claimed its pretty good! However, the Mac and cheese was very mediocre as well. Not very cheesy, creamy, or flavorful. It was nice trying it, but it’s definitely not something I would like to revisit. Nonetheless, the service was very friendly and welcoming, and for the amount of food we got, the price was great!

How it ever got 4 stars is wrong. Our dinner of pulled pork was fatty and dry. Their fryer was not working and the salad bar was inoperative. Overall this place should only have 0 stars. We will never return.

The first time I went here I did not enjoy my pulled pork because it was too dried out. However, the second time I went here I got the BarBeCuban and I LOVED it. The sides are always awesome and fresh and the sauces compliment the meats well. I want to go back and try more of the sandwiches.

Pigs only fly when their butts are smoked, same for beef and chicken. None in our party detected any smoke flavor in the meats nor smoke aroma in the air. For me, at least, it isn’t BBQ if it isn’t smoked. The sizable meat portions were served Texas-style with a variety of sauces available as condiments, even Asian sauces. The side dishes were very good. I enjoyed my meal, but these pigs don’t fly.

Really good BBQ joint. Great service. Brisket had a great smoked flavor. Just my portions were just a little over done but still tasted good. BBQ baked beans are very good as well as their Aunt Alice’s Cole slaw. A return trip is for sure a thing with me.

I love BBQ… the curb appeal of the restaurant SCREAMS great pit BBQ and we were not disappointed. No frills, no fancy tables, no fancy menus… in fact, stand your butt up and come order at the register if you want to eat! We tried the ribs, chicken, and pulled pork — all was good, but the real stand out was the pulled pork sandwich. House BBQ sauces were good… gotta try the Carolina style vinegar. I am a Texan and live all styles, but prefer pit. The service was EXCELLENT — friendly with no frills.

Holy crud, I love this place! I recently discovered that a couple of my friends were still in town, so I asked if they wanted to come try to this place out with me. By «try,» I was really the only one actually trying it because they’d both already been there before. I’ve been meaning to come here since… December, I believe, but somehow, I never made it here til yesterday. There are a bunch of choices on the menu, most of which I can easily rule out since I can’t eat pork. What makes me really love them is the fact that they have pulled chicken. PULLEDCHICKEN. Sorry for yelling. That was to express my excitement. After much deliberation, I decided on a «SOBO Baked Potato,» which traditionally came with pulled pork on top, but I got it with the chicken instead. It was a glorious decision. I am definitely coming back, although I can’t decide if I want to just default to that from now on or try something new(I should do the latter so I have more to talk about). The baked potato is humongous and comes loaded with butter, sour cream, chives, cheese(i’ll probably ask them to hold the cheese next time since I’m not a fan of cheddar – I think the very fact that I even ate the cheddar says something for the potato, yes yes?) and meat. There are also a bunch of bottles of different types of sauces on the side. I like the Honey BBQ. :] Prices are very fair and portions are ginormous. Service is super friendly and they’re very good with suggestions if you’re lost on what to get. My friend got an entire chicken with two rolls for $ 12(there go his next 2 – 3 meals?). If you order a plate, it comes with two sides(choice of mac & cheese, potato salad, greens, BBQ baked beans + a couple other choices that I currently cannot recall). I’m kinda eager to try the greens. Will report back when I do!
