The food here is great, the atmosphere in the patio is great, and the beer selection is great… But the intangibles are lacking. Do I sit down and get served or do I stand with my butt in the other customers’ faces who are seated at the table that is placed in the awkwardly formed line? Do I come in when the sign says open even though all the doors are locked and there is garbage everywhere from last night? If the owner made some simple changes this place would kill it, but I just find it lacking and likely won’t be making the drive over anymore.

This place is hazardous. They ignored us. Once we get their attention, the basic menu items we ordered were not.available. They served us tomato basil soup with a live bug swimming in it! Stay away. If I can I would put zero stars.

Food was subpar. In this area, with all the great restaurants, you have to do something to put yourself over the top. Did not do it for me. Went to cobra brewing and was not open, some guy in the parking lot recommended this place. Had a burger, French dip. Just ok. Self serve. out door seating looked nice. Would not go out of my way to return. Guess thats how they got the name, they are at square one.

Great food, but should offer a side like chips or something with a burger! But in general the blue cheese burger is fantastic!

So many options for homemade mac and cheese, which is a featured section on their menu; I couldn’t have been more excited to try it. But what was handed to me was lightly oiled, garlic powdered, overcooked, penne pasta. No cheese. No macaroni. I went back an hour later to check if perhaps I was handed the wrong thing(hard to fathom since it’s the only pasta on the menu) or there had been a worldwide macaroni shortage. I waited for 5 minutes at the counter and had a few cooks walk past me to get another beer but not so much as eye contact. Maybe drinking keeps the chefs from feeling the shame of not having any idea how to cook? I left my meal on the counter and will drop by some Kraft Mac n’ Cheese if I’m ever in the area again.

We were in Lewisville picking up a car that was the shop so we decided to wait out traffic and have dinner some where. This place got pretty good reviews so we figured we’d give it a try. When we got there the credit card machines were down– not a big deal, they pointed out a ATM at the corner we could walk to. Their menu looks great, lots of unique combinations– like their sign out side claimed–«craft beer and craft food» I order the Turkey and Pear panini, my boyfriend got the Cuban Burger. Once the food arrived we were disappointed, it was okay, but not great. The atmosphere seemed great, we were there a bit early, but there was a band setting up for live music, and they did have a nice patio.

I got the jalapeño burger. It had a thin slice of tomato, a couple small leaves of romaine, and maybe four little slices of jalapeño. It tasted really good, but it wasn’t at all special. It’s about what I’d expect for a $ 9 burger. It wasn’t comically enormous like some places where I’d cut it in half and still be too full, but it was pretty big. My bill was $ 17 + tax + tip. $ 9.23 for the burger(half the burgers are $ 10.23) $ 2.77 for a side of potato salad $ 5 for a can of beer. I guess the fact that they don’t include a side with a gourmet-priced burger makes me feel pretty meh about the place. I don’t think I’d go back. The sides aren’t great. The potato salad is really just cold instant mashed potatoes with some bacon in it. The pasta salad my friend got wasn’t bad, but it was a lot more boring than the pasta salad you’d get at the Kroger deli for example. They’ve also raised their prices a buck since they updated their website.

I had the crabcake burger and my husband had the a spicy burger — with real jalapeño!!! :) Coleslaw was awesome, potato salad was awesome. they have happy hours and daily dinner specials. I came here 2 years ago and then moved further away and never made it back… but was going to the city concert to see Texas Flood and I was like — I have to take my husband back to this place and I was so happy that it was as awesome as I remember it! Nothing appears to be fried on the menu… the buns are delicious. atmosphere is quaint. Looks like local bands and outside patio… wait staff was so so so nice. She took the time to explain the local beers and did I mention — local soda pop –Oak Cliff soda pop – delicious. I have decided that this is my new favorite place!

I would love to be able to review this place. However, both times I have attempted to eat here I was greeted by a sign indicating they would be opening late that day. When your advertised hours indicate you open at 9am and I am arriving at 1pm for lunch, I do not think it is too much to ask that this place is open. In fact, on the first attempt I got there after the posted late opening, knocked on the door, and was promptly ignored by the furiously texting employee inside. Looked up and looked back down with no acknowledgment. Bad form guys.

I think I caught them on a bad day. So, I’d been wanting to check this place out and just hadn’t been able to get there. I finally got the opportunity yesterday. I was the first to arrive for lunch and two ladies followed me in. The menus were on hanging chalkboard signs, well one was on the floor waiting to be hung. I think. Anyway, the other ladies ordered first while I studied the menu. I decided on the Southwest Chicken Sandwich and just had a water to drink. I had a feeling(since I only saw two people working there) that it might take a little longer than usual, so I requested takeout. They had a nice little patio, so I sat there while waiting. Within a couple of minutes my paper takeout cup started to get flimsy(I was concerned, but it never did actually cave in on me). Two different people checked on me while I waited, and surprisingly the food came out sooner than expected. I decided to eat some of my food there since I still had a little time. After taking a couple of bites(of my $ 9 sandwich, no sides) and thinking it seemed bland, I realized it was missing the bacon and peppers. At this point, they had gotten pretty busy, the place was nearly full. I waited at the counter a few minutes and a man asked me if he could help. So I explained that my sandwich was missing peppers and bacon, which he relayed to the man in the kitchen(who actually took my order to begin with), he then replied«We don’t have bacon and that sandwich doesn’t come with peppers». The other man hands it back to me and I tell him, «the menu says peppers». He hands it back to the kitchen guy and says«she says the menu says peppers», to which he replies«pepper jack cheese». At this point I was getting irritated, and I say something like«I can read, the menu says pepper jack cheese and peppers». So he comes from behind the kitchen, hands me back my box(exactly how it was) with $ 10 and says«Sorry about that». I’ve got to say, I thought I was going to have to argue with him. He took the high road and just gave me a refund. I applaud him for that. I was disappointed. I work in the area and would love to find another healthy place for lunch. It’s such a cute place, with a lovely patio. Maybe someday I will venture back, but probably not any time soon. Based on other reviews, it looks like the case of the missing sandwich pieces is a somewhat common occurrence.

2 words… lavender americano! Love this adorable café & lunch spot in the middle of old downtown Lewisville. They play live music on the patio on the weekends… perfect to stop by if you are cruising the antique shops and boutiques nearby. They also have paninis, burgers & soups. I will have so try some actual food here next time but the coffee sure did hit the spot!

Had a nice dinner here and am really surprised by the bad reviews. Sure, this place isn’t flawless, but it’s worth a try, and a second try if you ask me. My husband had the Square One burger. A little too much Dijon mustard for his taste, but otherwise fine. He also had a lite beer which he enjoyed. I had the Honey Sriracha Panini and it was good. I actually wish there was more Sriracha mayonnaise(which is homemade, btw). It would be nice if some potato salad, fries, or something was served on the side. Especially at that price point($ 8 for the panini). The place is small but the seating outside is nice. Really like the staff and atmosphere. Big thanks to Lawrence for taking such good care of us. We’ll be back.

Fantastic little joint in downtown Lewisville. The burger is a little small compared to the bun but you can taste all of the freshness in the patty and the veggies. Live music on the patio Tuesday thru Saturday, local beers in tap and frequent pint nights. I’m a fan. I will come back again GriM

Stopped in for lunch during a work day. The place caught my eye with it’s nice patio and stripped down exterior. I figured I’d be in for a pleasant meal at a local business. The interior is really trendy, nice dark floors, a decent selection of taps for a place so far north of Dallas and what looked like a good menu from the descriptions. I order a sandwich and a beer and sit outside to enjoy the patio. The sandwich was a chicken, bacon and avocado panini. The owner told me they were out of bacon, but he could sub in Prosciutto, which was a-okay with me. When I get the sandwich, it seemed they simply forgot to put chicken on it. So there I am, trying desperately to eat this now prosciutto and avocado sandwich. The prosciutto was cut too thick and was too fatty even for prosciutto, so most of my meal was spent trying to gnaw my way through it. Add in that this 9 dollar sandwich doesn’t come with any side, and it was an overall terrible meal. I could not in good conscious recommend anyone visit here for a meal.

Stopped here while driving north from Dallas. A mile off the highway & so much better than fast food! I got the BLTA& added turkey. Everything was so fresh! The best sandwich I’ve had in awhile.

I loved this place. Service went down. Kitchen seems out of order. Half of table is served and finished eating before the rest of the table gets food. Always out of at least two key items on menu. Like meat for a burger, or cheese. They seem to just focus on beer. The beer they like.

Nice beer selection, very nice atmosphere(love the outdoor section), and some great burgers. Tried a few panini but the burgers are definately where it’s at. They have Oak Cliff soda, local beers, a selection of Nitro drafts and some good looking sides. I had the big Island which was particularly great. Oh and it’s byob with free wifi. I’ll be back!

Very inovative menu. I’ve been here a few times and I already have a couple of regular items I order off the menu. Like the Italian Panini and the Crab and Egg, both of which are ABSOLUTELY delicious and always fresh! My absolute favorite thing on their menu is the White Chocolate Lavender Mocha. You can taste everything the name says. It’s fantastic! The only reason it’s missing a star is because, yes, the service is not exactly welcoming, but not full on rude, pretty aloof I might add. They also tend to change up when to serve certain items, and some things on the menu may be unavailable depending on when you come in. It’s like a game of chance. However, if you manage to get what you’re craving, it’s definitely satisfying!

I usually do a generic search for burgers once a month or so. Unilocal gives me Mooyah, Five Guys, Smash & Whatabuger, along with a host of other decent fast & fast causal places. Today though. Today was magical. Unilocal showed me Square One Café and I thought«hey, looks like a new place!». It is not a new place. Square One has been tucked away on Lewisville’s quaint Main St. for two years. Two. Years. Unilocal. What is going on? Why would you hide this place from me? I thought we were friends. Do you know how many burgers, salads, and paninis I could have shoved in my mouth by now? I have so much catching up to do. Okay. Unilocal’s obvious insidious plot to keep Square One off of my radar aside, this place is fantastic. They have a small but varied menu with salads, sandwiches, panini’s, and burgers. I chose the Bleu Cheese & Bacon burger(no tomato because gross) with a side of Bacon & Dill potato salad. My son ordered a bowl of chili be aside there’s nothing better in 80 degree weather than a nice hot bowl of chili. Our orders came out at the same time approximately 15 minutes after we placed them. My burger looked amazing. The potato salad looked creamy and flavorful. The single orange segment on my plate looke… wait, what? Orange segment? Yeah. Orange segment. I’m going to let it slide because the burger’s call was strong. At first glance, the burger was well put together. The bun/burger ratio was a bit off. A smaller bun or a bigger burger would have been good. The bun was also a bit heavy on the grease. It had a great crisp to it but it was pretty heavily saturated. Not a big fan of the bun. The burger was fantastic. It was cooked a little more than I prefer but still incredibly flavorful and juicy. The bacon was crispy and the Bleu cheese was creamy. The burger was accompanied by spring greens and a garlic mayo both of which added to the overall experience. Overall this burger is a huge win. The potato salad was fairly standard with a nice balance of dill, bacon, and dressing. It wasn’t too wet and had a great flavor. Luke’s chili(which also came with an orange segment for some reason) was, according to him, an 8 out of 10 and very good. Coming from a teenager who’s standard reactionary words are«fine» and«god, why do you keep asking me what it tastes like?», «very good» is basically a five star review. The portion of chili was generous as well. Square One has some good sodas on tap along with the requisite tea. The service was above average, was times were normal, and the atmosphere was good. Square One Café earns all give of these stars and I will definitely be back!
