I never really liked Steak n’ Shake that much, but I thought i’d give it a shot again. Confirmed. It’s still awful… but I think this one in particular was extra awful! It was bad. Overcooked bun, tomato cut too big(hate that!), just not a tasty burger, and the fries… I got the new seasoned ones and they must have sprinkled it right on top after they gave me last nights left overs. YUCK! NOTEVENWORTH $ 4! So, yeah, it was disorganized and slow to begin with and then crappy food.

Arrived at 2:20 finally got to order at 2:48 received food at 3:00, received shakes at 3:15 and the bill at 3:24. Took 28 minutes to order only 1 table that had ordered, waitress complained she was the only one here. Manager and cook were just standing around. Was asked to wait for 10 minutes while she complained to the other guests. Finally ordered waited 10 more minutes at least the food was hot. 3 other customers came in the she complained to us about being the only person running the place. 3 groups of guest left due to just having to wait to be seated 1 group came in before them and we’re still waiting to order took till 3:35 to cash out due to waiting on cashier. The manager was no where to be found at checkout. Overall food was good but the experience really really sucked. Won’t be back for a while.

I’ve been to many steak n shakes and have always been pleased with the food, prices and service. This particular location however has left a lot to be desired. We walked into this place expecting nothing less than what I’ve experienced in the past but left extremely disappointed. The food was mediocre but was edible except for the chili on my fries which tasted like it’s been sitting for two days or more, however, the shake was very good. The worst part was our dine in experience, the condition of the restaurant was absolutely disgusting. The waiter sat us down at a table that had soda spilled on it and dried up. The floor under the table was wet and slippery with some unknown liquid and there were crumbs all over the seats. I decided to let the waiter know this and we then moved to a different booth. I fully expected them to clean up the floor at that booth but instead, he sat the next customer down at that same nasty table! The booth we moved to was probably in the best condition as far as cleanliness is concerned but there were still soda rings on the table from previous use. I looked around and found that every table had some sort of issue, garbage, used napkins, glasses and plates. There was garbage all over the dirty floor and it was sticky everywhere. The floor looked like it hadn’t been mopped in a month! The walls of the booths had all kinds of smudges and marks from what appeared to be a collection of ketchup finger art from children of past visits. I tried to justify the condition of this place thinking maybe they were just short staffed or something but that was certainly not the case. It just seemed that nobody has been managing that restaurant and leaving it to the young people in it. This place has been severely neglected for several days or possibly even weeks for it to be in such condition. Three of the servers were arguing with each other about who was going to clean and complaining about how many tables they were waiting, which weren’t many because we were one of four dine ins they had at that time. There’s nothing worse than listening to the servers argue about having to clean the surface that their customers are eating off of and and having to serve the customers that fund their income. We finished our meal in a hurry and went to pay, at which point we witnessed the condition of the kitchen and cooking area. OMG! Garbage, cheese and vegetables all over the floor by the grill which nobody made any effort to pick up and clean. We watched them step on and around all of this mess. Management needs to do something with this restaurant, it will quickly lose its business if it continues to present itself so poorly.

The food is actually pretty good. If you want to eat here, go through the drive thru. I have never seen such terrible service from a waitress or manager. Too much insanity to put in a Unilocal review. If you work for or know someone who works for steak and shake, call their home office. This location is a zoo.

I have come here for late night munchies and I am not sure why a lot of people would pick this over other places. The fries are the worse I have ever had. They were limp and soggy. Not how I like my fries! I have never sat inside, always drive thru. The drive thru is a pretty quick service.

I had Jalapeño burger and creamy coleslaw. Burger was great and french fried was also good. But creamy coleslaw was too creamy and little bit oily to me. It is cheap and taste good.

The food is great, the shakes are excellent, the prices are fair. So why only 2 stars? Like I said, the food is great… when you get the right thing. Our waiter was either very new or very incompetent. Even though he appeared to get our order just fine, he came back with the wrong shooters, wrong fries, and then forgot my shake entirely. We told him this, he went about correcting… then still forgot my shake. Combine this with the fact he never checked on us… I wouldn’t write this location off, but definitely be prepared and wary. Previous trips here were good, so know they do have good points.

Just out of the club on the way home and looking for Something to eat and stopped here because Unilocal says they are open and their website says they are open and we drive up and the workers are al out back by the drive through smoking cigarettes and said they were closed as they were under staffed and the grill was off so they couldn’t help us at all. Now I don’t know if this was true but why are they still hanging around there if they are closed and couldn’t they have put up a closed sign or turned off the outside lights so people wouldn’t be getting off the highway? Something!

I ordered two meals and my waiter called me fat. However, her blunt honesty and her spanking booty inspired me to exercise and work out on a regular basis. With every workout the image of her supple breasts would flash from my memory and would motivate me to lift harder than a professional bodybuilder. I can now curl the equivalent of a small car if it were cut in half and bench the weight of 647 Reebok Hypershocks.

This is my last visit to this Steak n’ Shake. The last three times I’ve been, they’ve messed up my drive thru order. This last time I didn’t get anything I ordered. It’s not as if I’ve gone at peak business hours either. I went at 10:30 pm on a Friday last time. I order a western burger and a chili 5 way. I got home with a plain burger with ketchup, a friscomelt, and one of each size of fries. The burger and melt were both soaking in grease and nearly inedible. I threw away most of the fries because they were cold and I didn’t need to eat 5000 calories worth of fried potato sticks. Really need to have their cashiers check what they put out the window because not everyone has time to drive back or is able to check the order in the car. Also maybe repeating the order when handing out off would help.

After a 4 hour flight I got to Texas at 3am and was so excited to find a Steak and Shake right down the road from my hotel. The staff were great, super energized and attentive even at 3am! We don’t have these little gems in Cali but I wish we did.

The last time I gave SnS a shot was with my boyfriend just near the tail end of the breakfast rush(9−10ish). Our food took forever, though our server was very attentive. When it did come out, my boyfriend’s order was wrong. When our server went to the kitchen to correct the issue, he was told that breakfast was over(this was 30 minutes at least after our original order and it had JUST ended) and we would have to order another item off the lunch menu. Well, I used to work here for almost 4 years(07 – 11) and was a service trainer. And I would never let that sh*t fly. So I asked for a manager. When we spoke with the manager, she cut me off mid-sentence and immediately offered to comp the whole check. She wasn’t meaning to be rude but was obviously flustered and trying to get the experience over with. Still. They are VERY quick to comp entire meals here, and that’s part of the problem. Comping someone’s check won’t keep them coming back. Good service will. Just so y’all know. The servers do everything here. They seat tables, bus their own tables, clean the front of the house, clean the restrooms, do the dishes, and often also make their own shakes, sometimes they’re also handling drive thru(this is on top of normal server sidwork). They are not paid competitive wages, so it’s mainly high school kids that don’t care whether they keep the job or not. The only way to get positive changes in this particular location, and franchise as a whole is for corporate to stop trying to be cheap and either pay competitive wages for servers, bussers, hosts and cleaning staff, or to step away from the dine-in service model altogether, like Freddy’s Frozen Custard(WAY better than SnS, if you haven’t been there.) Cliffnotes: Steak n’ Shake is an unethical corporation and many of the grievances from customers relate directly to their lack of commitment to supporting their staff.

Meh. Extremely meh. As a previous reviewer mentioned, an odd, strong, armpit like smell came from the front when you walk in. Took 5 mins before someone could seat us. Another 10 – 15 before our order was placed. Probably 15 more before the food came out. And by that time it was cold. It was tragically understaffed. Two high school aged girls splitting a busy Sunday afternoon crowd, including taking the orders, bringing the food out, ringing people up. Food was bland covered in ketchup. My cherry limeade was good though. It’s 24⁄7 so I’d come if I was desperately in need of food.

I was reluctant to eat here at first. Today we decided to give it a try and we loved it. I had no idea this was a burger joint and I thought we would end up spending a lot of money. Well, the burgers were great and good quality, the prices are very low, and the service was superb. We had the Swiss Portobello and the Jamaican Jerk.
