The Soup Kitchen is my favorite lunch spot. Great food, low prices and the staff members all have great personalities. Great for take out and dining in. They also don’t require you to do your own dishes after you eat like Panera, Atlanta Bread and Good Foods all do. It’s a small thing, but if I wanted to put away dishes I would cook at home.

They use substandard meat and cheese product slices on their sandwhiches and you know it’s fancy when they hand you french’s mustard packets. The soup I had was a potato and was okay. I’d say hit Panera or other lunch places in the area before going here unless you see a daily soup listed on their website you just have to have.

Crab soup was spectacular! And the grilled cheese sandwich was perfect. The staff was friendly. I really like the open kitchen.

I love soup so I decided to try The Soup Kitchen the other day. All the reviews on here recommend the grilled cheese so I gave it a shot. It was pretty subpar. The bread was almost a soggy texture when biting into it. The soup was mediocre as well. All in all, I could have made a better grilled cheese at home and saved money.

Normally I’m not a soup and sandwich type of gal, but I was in the area and wanted to try something new. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a nice man working by himself for the evening. At first I was the only person there but about ten more people arrived during my stay of about thirty minutes. They have a few salad options that I considered, but since they are known for their soups, I decided on a small soup and whole grilled cheese. The Wednesday soup of the day is crab soup, if you love crab and cream cheese, you will love it. You can try as many soups as you want, but I was steering clear of tomatoes. Up next I tried the white chicken chili. I decided to order the white chicken chili, which was good but a bit less than what I would call warm. I couldn’t really tell that from the small sample… oh well. After I paid, he served me my soup and then made my grilled cheese sandwich. The grilled cheese sandwich had a strange, almost soggy consistency. I will say that there was plenty of cheese on it though. I was tempted to ask him how much cheese he put on it, but I didn’t want him to think that it was a bad thing. I couldn’t finish the whole sandwich, so a half sandwich combo would’ve been plenty. Oh well, it was good as leftover for my lunch today. I will say that that it’s comparable to Dad’s and I actually prefer Soup Kitchen over Dad’s.

REAL Cornbread(NOT Cake-cornbread), and the Soup is a Fine Compliment to the Artisan made cornbread.

A great place for warm, inciting, and filling meals. A definite lunchtime favorite, especially the clam chowder, chili, and burgundy soups!

I returned here for lunch today and remembered why I quit going. While the soup is pretty good and the accompanying grilled cheese is good, I just don’t care for the apathetic, «don’t give a damn» staff I’ve encountered. I’m sure some of the folks who work there are perfectly helpful. I just haven’t come across them yet. Today I ordered vegetable soup and a grilled cheese. I am not exaggerating when I say that the soup was not even close to warm. When I returned the soup to the counter and said pretty much what I just wrote in this review, I didn’t get so much as a simple I’m sorry. The gal grabbed the soup out of my hand and slammed it into the microwave. I was then told rudely to «sit back down.» When she returned the soup to the table, it was indeed hot, but she had an attitude that was really uncalled for. Mistakes happen, I get that, but I cannot accept being treated rudely for requesting that the soup I ordered and paid for be served hot. Again, the food is fine — good, even — but they really need to lose the ‘tude if they want to keep my business.

One of my new lunch spots for those days I don’t pack a lunch to bring to work with me. I really enjoy a good hearty soup. After reading some of the older reviews, I was a bit worried about the flavor of food here but the ones I have tried so far were really good. I heard from one of my friends that their cornbread is really good but I haven’t tried any of their breads or sandwiches myself. I have been getting the TSK Souper Spud, which is basically a soup of your choice poured over a baked potato. Who knew it would be so tasty!!! The place isn’t anything fancy but has some of the friendliest people working there. I overheard them explain to another customer that customers can purchase a loaf of bread of their choice if they give TSK a 24-hour notice. I might have to do that!

Excellent soup, good variety and changes daily. Carry-out or eat-in. Grilled cheeses are very tasty. Prices are reasonable for lunch or dinner. Sizable portions. Restaurant is clean, and service is given with a smile. The only downside for me is that their business hours put them outside of the hours that I would like to eat there, so I only recently got to try it. If they were open even one or two hours later I would eat there on a weekly basis for dinner.

A great place to eat especially in the winter as they offer a variety of soups every day. I usually get a small soup and half sandwich combo. My favorite is the vegetable soup and turkey sandwich on brown bread. Their brown bread is absolutely delicious! I haven’t even tried the other bread options because I don’t want to miss a an opportunity to eat the brown bread. If you don’t mind the calories get the snow crab soup if it’s on the menu when you go.

This place is really good and tends to have a variety of food to choose from. The service has really improved as the two guys who work in the evenings now are spectacular! They always give nice portions and great suggestions. I definitely recommend the chicken salad sandwich on the brown bread. The wild rice chicken, bacon cheddar, potato, and chili are all great soups as well. Plus, they alternate and have new soups all the time so there’s always something new to try.

The soup kitchen is a good alternative to Pannera and Atlanta Bread. I had the tomato basil soup and ½ tuna salad on cheddar bread, and while it wasn’t spectacular, it was a perfectly fine and satisfying lunch at a reasonable price. The bread was fresh, and the small soup was good size. The staff was friendly, helpful and quick to serve.

I tried this place because of a sweetjack coupon, and it was very disappointing. I think the concept is great, but it has to be backed up with good execution. They claim to use fresh ingredients, but they use processed food in their soups. The sandwiches were dry and about 90% thick and heavy bread. And the service was awful; nobody even greeted us when we went in, and we stood there for several minutes next to the counter before one of the three people immediately behind it looked up and asked for our order. Not even good value with a coupon.

they close at 8. I was pushing it and pulled up outside the door at 7:50 last night but I wanted chili, what can I say. Not only was the open sign off, all the chairs were on the tables and the employees had obviously almost finished cleaning. Called in today and they said they’d closed already.

«Not what I expected. The tomato bisque was „sweet“ according to my wife. The chili was tasty. I just couldn’t get past the pork-n-beans in it. The sandwich was fresh. A hulk of a sandwich. The brown bread was good. It was nice to try a different place to eat…»

I’ve really tried to like the Soup Kitchen. I’ve tried the chili and most recently the tomato basil soup. Basically I’ve made better at home. I tried my husband’s Burgundy mushroom soup and it had no flavor whatsoever. He had to add copious amounts of salt just to be able to eat it. Now for something positive. We also had the grilled cheese sandwich on our last visit and it was quite good. The bread had a great texture. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with plenty of cheese. For the price, about $ 20 for two people(2 soups, 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks) I expect a little more than what we got.

Well the Girlfriend and I went back for another rainy day dinner, and this time it was well before closing. In short, this is a solid 4 star restaurant in my book. This time I went with the Little Italy, which combined a lot of Italian flavors and various Italian noodles. And the bread is always solid. In fact I think this might be my favorite part of the restaurant. I like the bread so much, because it is both filling and cheap, that I have yet to try the sandwiches. Not to dish on the sandwiches, but the bread is so good and with a large soup it is rather filling, and all for around 5 bucks or so. So if you are looking for a nice dinner or lunch that really hits the comfort zone without breaking the bank, then this is your place.
