A no star review. Took my computer in and promised a full review and repair within one week. Quoted $ 39.00 for his review. Called to advise needed to order a part and would be good to go in less than z week. Uh oh the part did not fix the problem. Ordered another part delaying the repair for another week. Had to call to find out what was going on and was told parts arrived yesterday. Lo and behold the part did not fix the problem. Now he can’t fix the. computer and charged $ 50.00 Do not use this provider

As an IT professional who’s been building, upgrading and repairing computers longer than many Geek Squad employees have even been alive, I typically enjoy dealing with computer repair places about as much as a dentist does setting up their own root canal appointment. Steve and Will at Campus Computer Repair have succeeded in shifting that paradigm. Laptops have always been a PITA for me to work on for a variety of technical reasons far outside the scope of this review(plus I have fat fingers). My main laptop recently took a dump on me literally less than five minutes after I emailed another Lexington computer repair company to request a quote because I knew the lingering issue I’d been having had reached a critical point(totally called THAT one… just sayin’). Irritated but undeterred, I hopped on another system and proceeded to email every Lexington computer repair shop that looked promising, including Hartland Computer Repair, of which this place is basically an offshoot. I provided each company with a description of the repair I needed and the system information they’d need for finding out what parts were involved, accessing service bulletins on the procedure to estimate the repair time involved, etc. The first respondent called me and left a voicemail asking me to call them back to discuss. If I wanted to call you to discuss the estimate I’d requested, wouldn’t I have called you in the first place instead of emailing you? Duh. Steve, the owner of Campus Computer Repair, responded to my inquiry in ultra-timely fashion with a firm quote that included parts, labor and tax. The quote was extremely reasonable and eliminated any excuse I might have for performing the repair myself. Frankly, it would have probably cost me slightly MORE to do the repair myself, making this decision pretty darn easy. The work was concluded very quickly, they were extremely communicative every step of the way and I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. They were also understanding of the fact I was unwilling to provide them with my system’s password for security reasons, and happily worked around that limitation. My unwillingness to give them the password had nothing to do with the firm’s reputation or professionalism, I’m just extremely hardcore when it comes to IT security(I’m the guy who applies enterprise-grade security standards to pie recipes). I have extremely high standards when dealing with any technology-related company and Campus Computer Repair exceeded them all. Add in the Unilocal check-in offer for free antivirus software with any repair(which I didn’t personally want, need or utilize) and a $ 10 for $ 20 Unilocal deal current at the time of this review and you’d be hard-pressed to find a better computer repair place in Lexington. Everybody go break your computer now so you can take it here to be fixed.
