Chevy Chase Hardware

If you can’t find it at the big box store… Lowes. Home Depot… Chevy Chase Hardware should have it… they are not open late at night but they have all the small nuts and bolts and hardware stuff…
Friendly staff… they know where everything is in the store.

Chevy Chase Hardware is the best place to get tools, supplies, paint, and more. The cozy shop is staffed by extremely knowledgeable people who can get you exactly what you need; they don’t try to up-​sell you and they won’t sell you the wrong thing. When going to this store you will be in and out in a fraction of the time that you would spend at Lowes or Home Depot, and you don’t have to spend 45 minutes trying to hunt down an employee, not to mention their staff is much more knowledgeable than those at a big box.

Wow! They are awesome! After another local company took my money (way over charged me) and jacked me around for 4 months, I got fed up and fired them– still waiting on my refund. But I called Chevy Chase hardware on amp day and they ordered and had exactly what I needed by Thursday and I picked up Friday!
I cannot say enough how I wish I had just started out with CCH.
When I picked up my screens, they were all friendly and helped me by carrying and putting them into my trunk.
I can guarantee that they have made a loyal customer of me and will be back again!

I had extra keys made here after I moved. It’s a nice local place without all the hassle of going to Home Depot or Lowe’s. Much easier to find what you are looking for quickly. It’s not a huge store but they seem to have it all!

Awesome little hardware store in Chevy Chase — convenient to downtown!

A great hardware store in a great neighbourhood. I’ll go to CCH before going to Lowe’s or Home Depot. The staff is friendly and helpful, although the selection was much better when it used to be a True Value Hardware Store. I’ve shopped here for several items, only to be told they don’t stock it anymore. This is the only independent hardware store left in Lexington, so I hope they’ll be around for a long, long time. Parking is best behind the dry cleaners to the left of the store. You don’t have to back out into the very busy High St when leaving the store.

A decent store, and I do stop in from time to time even though it’s not particularly convenient to me. The staff certainly are more knowledgeable than those at big box stores like Home Depot and Lowes. They have also never seemed to view me, a woman in a hardware store, as a strange creature out of myth or someone who needs patronizing or hand-​holding.
The stock is good, but more than once I’ve gone in for a standard steel washer or something only to find that… they don’t carry it! These are things I used to be able to get at Ace, before they pulled out of Lexington, at $ 2.79 for a box of 100. Getting something sorta kinda similar at CCH, I could only shop by the piece and ended up spending about the same amount for 10 pieces. I realize prices are going to be higher at a local store and that’s a fair trade in my book, but this was excessive.
I don’t consider the parking to be much of an issue. It’s a neighborhood store, you can find street parking nearby on most days or just park across the street and wander around Rite-​Aid for a little while.
Overall, ³⁄₅. Increase in bulk and basic stock would raise it to 4/​5, another location across town to ⁵⁄₅.

I believe in patronizing local, smaller stores. Guess free enterprise works best when you see the local people benefitting from it. Needed two odd-​shaped lightbulbs for some strange-​ass lamps. Came here, lamps in hand, and the guy was EXTREMELY helpful. Put the bulbs in for me. Service like that is rare these days. I’m pleased Chevy Chase Hardware exists, and I will be back. Don’t go to Home Depot and contend with the crowd, come here!

Today I came in for paint. Again, a positive experience. 4 cans of decent quality paint, two rollers, and two keys. $ 130. I left feeling I had gotten value for my money, and I received great service once again.

«It smells good in here!» said a little girl, who came into Chevy Chase Hardware with her mom one day as I waited in line to pay for my garden gloves. True enough: it smells GOOD… like childhood with grandpa. CCH might just be the best little hardware store in town, the region, the country, the world. The employees must have to take a niceness test before they can work there. Always willing to help. Reasonably priced, though not as cheap as the mega-​stores. They stock just about anything you need from a hardware standpoint. Just add me to to the line of Unilocalers who love this place. To hell with Home Depot and Lowe’s!

A gem in the middle of Chevy Chase. Don’t be fooled by the small store front, they have anything you’re looking for, short of a new refrigerator. Remember, this is a hardware store, not a home renovation showroom.
Also, parking schmarking. It’s a neighborhood hardware store. The beauty of it, is it’s easy to walk to you. If you want a place with easy parking, go do donuts around the Home Depot and enjoy the neighborhood ambience of 6 acres of asphalt.

No finer neighborhood hardware store can — nor will ever — be found. CCH has an inimitable gift for having every little doo-​hickey ever forged, and a friendly and helpful staff to help you find it.
Also, they have a host of rather under-​advertised services: get yr mower tuned up. get a new storm window made (to spec!), or just consult one of the employees about your weird backyard project. Once they helped me figure out how to build an anchored bike hitch out of plumbing pipes and quick-​crete.

Great Neighborhood hardware store. Friendly staff. Parking stinks but that is the only set back.

I’m new to the neighborhood so I have only been here a couple of times. Nevertheless I have had two great experiences there and will be back! The staff is super friendly and attentive. One of them practically chased me down the aisle to see if I needed any help (I have a quick stride :) He took the part I needed right out of the packaging and tested it for me so I new I was getting exactly what I needed.
I’ve often longed for a simpler time in history when such family owned stores were the only stores that existed. Thank god this one is still around. I NEVER feel so good when I walk out of a Lowes or Home Depot.
P. S. I parked across the street by Shopper’s Village Liquor to avoid backing out in front of the store. I suggest it.

The only reason this hardware store doesn’t get 5 stars is because parking is lousy. Other than that, this is the best hardware depot in town. It’s small but seems to have everything I’ve needed in the last 3 years. The customer service is unbeatable: friendly and knowledgeable. And it’s right across the street from the best bakery in town. Win-​win!
