The one positive this place has in its favor is convenience if you are staying at the Clarion. Had a skillet at breakfast and either the chef dumped the salt shaker in my dish or they just season that way. Today I gave it the benefit of the doubt and the fried chicken was burnt to a crisp. The wait staff was slow and didn’t know their menu, mine needed to check what lunch came with and they seem to, rely on the pasta bar to make life easier Make a drive somewhere else

My wife and I ate here the Saturday before Valentines Day. When we walked in there was an older couple sitting in the restaurant. After waiting for 2 – 3 minutes without seeing a waitress or hostess we heard them say«They should have someone watching the door». Its sad when your customers are saying that. Eventually a guy comes from the back an yells to the Kitchen«Hey you got people waiting». A minute later the hostess/waiter comes out. We ordered the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. They took 20 minutes to come out. I had the Cajun Flank steak my wife had the fried chicken dinner. HONESTLY the food reminded me of cafeteria food. The steak was Cajun NOWHERE. No Cajun flavor nothing. Mashed potatoes… were ok but who can’t make mashed potatoes. Her chicken was actually bad not close to good. I really don’t even feel like finishing this review. The dinner was free(and even with it being bad and free I was grateful for it) BUT the best thing about it was the sweet tea and that is bad. I want to like every restaurant that I go to but with this on there was very little to like please avoid it. Denny’s behind the Chevron is better. Sorry Cortland’s try harder. Our room at the Clarion was actually nicer than I though 3THUMBSUPTOTHEM!!!

I was a big fan of Cortland’s! Cortland’s Southern Kitchen is attached to the Clarion Hotel right off the interstate in Lexington. The place was pretty empty when we arrived, but the interior is very clean and very nice. The chef is supposed to be very well-renowned. The menu had a lot of interesting items like frog legs and duck breast.(I’ve had these before, I just never expected this place to have it). The menu also includes standard American fare such as burgers and sandwiches. The service was very good and the waiter was very friendly and helpful. I came with my buddy and we ordered a good amount of food. I ordered the BBQ glazed duck with mashed potatoes and vegetables. My buddy got the Cortland’s burger(Half pound Angus chuck with a slice of country ham, peppers, and white cheddar). We also had the bourbon glazed peaches and apple fritter. The BBQ Duck was incredible! The duck leg was pan seared and had that nice wonderful bbq glaze over it. I’m a huge fan of duck, so this really satisfied that craving. The meat was succulent and the skin was crisp. The garlic mashed potatoes were a wonderful complement and had that nice creamy texture that perfect mashed potatoes require. The mixed vegetables that I got were not very good at all though. It looked great, the nice blending of colors with the corn, but it was overly vinegar-y(if that is a word). It tasted as though they spilled it over the veggies, so I didn’t bother finishing it. But I didn’t let that ruin the rest of my meal. My friend’s burger looked just as good! The burger was huge. The slice of country ham was a nice touch and the onion rings that accompanied the burger were just as big. My greedy friend never let me get a piece, but I didn’t doubt that it was as good as he says it was. The bourbon glazed peaches were amazing! They come with a side of ice cream so you get that hot and cold dessert combo. There really isn’t any more to say about it then to get it yourself. The apple fritter was ok. Nothing special, but still good. Overall, a great little place attached to the hotel. There should be more people, but I assume they get only hotel patrons to come down and visit, which is a shame. More people around the city should know about this place. I would definitely come back if I ever stop by Lexington again.
