Great Taiwanese food restaurant mostly for to go pick up orders and deliveries. Food and service are excellent! Highly recommended and I will go back again on my next trip to Lexington, MA. Not much of a seating area so take it back to your hotel and enjoy the meal!

What a great restaurant. The service is so quick and the entire staff is extremely friendly. I have food allergies and my girlfriend is a vegetarian, and they took extreme care to make sure our food was prepared safely given our dietary needs. This establishment is also very clean. The prices are reasonable. This is my new go to place for Chinese food. It’s not typical crap that you get from stereotypical Chinese takeout places. This food is really high quality.

Enough for bad manner, if the waiter do not like ppl from mainland china just hang a board at your door saying you dont serve them

Beef and tomato was excellent. Beef was soft and Tomatos perfectly cooked. Great place and price too. The beef noodle soup was also very good and was a good portion. Went here during a boston vacation.

I’ve been here a few times now and I have to say that I really love the food. The location is sub par tho(there is almost never any parking and they have signs that discourage you from eating in due to some regulations the city has in place.) The food is good. If it says it is spicy, they don’t mean New England black pepper hot, which I love. The ground spicy chicken is my favorite dish. They recently instituted a rule that anything under 15 needs to be paid for in cash, which is unfortunate but understandable. The delivery has always been quick too. One of the best places in Lexington. As a bonus, the staff has always been so nice to us when we came in.

Ordered pad Thai, rangoons x2, chicken wings, house lomein, sesame chicken, and egg drop. All fried food tasted burnt and lemony like the oil was old and had cooked something w lemon in it. Pad Thai had ZERO flavor. Literally the noodles tastes as if there was no sauce at all. I’ve had amazing authentic and ok Americanized. This sadly couldn’t resemble either. House lomein was not very good. Didn’t taste anything like American or authentic lomein. Sesame chicken and soup both were blah. My husband said everything tastes like it had lemon Lysol in it.(why he knows the taste is beyond me lol) Will sadly not be back. Reviews were promising. But we were starving and pretty much felt we wasted 60 bucks on gross food.

The food was good but the service, especially the follow-up to a complaint, was not. We can generally accept mistakes, but failing to rectify them when pointed out is not what we’re looking for, especially given the expense of the place(and the fact that Lexington has a number of solid restaurants with similar food). Now, this might have been an isolated experience, but given the quality other options, we’ll probably not try it again.

My favorite spot in Lexington — so hearty and so good. I don’t know why people walk into a takeout joint and complain that it’s not a sit-down restaurant… The food is awesome and that’s all that matters to me. Try the spicy beef noodles or the spicy chicken wings!

Great place for lunch takeout — not too much space to sit down. I always go for flounder fish filet sichuan style. It’s just amazing!

Good Chinese food with a lot of Taiwanese options. Formosa Taipei has all the typical American Chinese favorites like Mu shu Chicken and fried rice, all of which are prepared much better than you typically get at a suburban Chinese takeout. Not crazy greasy or unnecessarily sweet. The dumplings are good too and don’t have any of the hallmarks of being left in a steam tray for too long. If I had to pick a favorite dish it would be the 3 cup eggplant or the noodles with minced pork. It’s hard to describe 3 cup eggplant, but if you like fish fragrant eggplant you’ll probably like this, although in my personal opinion fish fragrant is better. And who doesn’t like noodles and minced pork??? Formosa Taipei isn’t quite worth travelling for, but if you live in Lexington this should be your takeout spot.

Ordered appetizers for dinner, delivered, on Christmas Eve. Yum! Teriyaki tender, generous portions. Crab Rangoon delicate, not greasy. Pan fried pork dumplings delightful, light wrappers, not doughy or at all heavy. Scallion pancake & spring rolls good too. Came with plenty of sauce. Good flavors overall, not bombarded with sugar or salt like some places. Guy who answered the phone polite, organized, helpful.

So had to the chance to try this place out and I’m very pleased. its a small little hole in the wall place but very clean! Has one big round table that can seat 4 and than 2 folding tables with wooden benches that can seat 4 small people or 2 normal size adults comfortably and a high top bar with 3 high chairs. So had the chance to try the braised pork belly bun, the pork bun, the juicy pork dumplings(aka soup dumplings) and fried sweet sesame balls. All were very good. really liked the savory flavors in the braised pork belly mixed with a sweet peanut type sprinkle and veggies… you get two per order so order 2 orders … the pork buns were ok… you get 3 per order. they were ok but wasnt enough filling… the Juicy pork dumplings were ok… not enough soup but tasty… you get 8 per order

We had a better experience this time. Food quality is good, price still on higher side. Not that comfortable for eat in. Bottom line, good for take out occasionally.

the food is barely good. There are only 3 tables and they use disposable plate and chopsticks that make me feel cheap.

We came in and the décor was a little underwhelming — foldout tables and folding chairs for us when we sat down to eat in. Definitely has a takeout place feel to it so just know that going in. Just goes to show you that looks can be deceiving as we found the best Taiwanese food that we have had in the Boston area here. The food here is better than the Taiwanese restaurants that we have been to in Boston(Taiwan Café, Dumpling Café, Jo Jo Taipei) and Newton(Chung Shin Yuan). Period. We had the beef noodle soup, pan fried daikon cakes, and soup dumplings. The food has a home-cooked feel and was absolutely delicious. The beef noodle soup was flavorful(a little spicy but not overpowering) and the portion size was just right. Unlike some other Taiwanese restaurants that we have been to on the list above, we noticed that the beef brisket was not overly fatty and cooked well(not overly chewy). The noodles had a good texture(firm with a nice springiness to them). The pan fried daikon cake was among the best we have ever had(much better than the versions found at the dim sum restaurants in Boston Chinatown). It was not overly oily and had a firm texture that didn’t come apart when you bit in). Coupled with the hoisin sauce, we loved biting into them — can tell that the daikon was fresh. Lastly, the soup dumplings were amazing. The dumplings are different in style compared to Dumpling Café and Gourmet Dumpling in Chinatown, as the dumplings at Formosa Taipei are smaller and not as flat in shape. They are actually similar to the dumplings served at Chung Shin Yuan, but the dumplings at Formosa Taipei are significantly better. Unlike the very disappointing dumplings at Chung Shin Yuan(which remind me of ones that I can get from the Chinese supermarket), the dumplings at Formosa Taipei are literally bursting with flavorful soup and are much fresher. Just bites of joy as we dispatched each one in quick succession. The food is similarly priced as the Taiwanese restaurants in Chinatown, but we felt like we got better value because the food was just tastier and fresher. Highly recommend Formosa Taipei for delicious and authentic Taiwanese food — we shall be back for sure the next time we are in Lexington(we didn’t even try the spicy roast beef, scallions, and hoisin sauce wrapped in scallion pancake that is recommended in some of the other reviews so we will need to make another trip).

As a Taiwanese, I have to say the food here are very Taiwan. Unlike other American Chinese, American Taiwanese food in Boston. It really impressed me. And this is not a restaurant that you could dine in. There are only few tables and chairs inside. You had better take out.

This place is great. We ordered hot and sour soup, chive pie, beef noodle soup, and bamboo rice. All of it was delicious. Customers should know two things: they prefer that you take out, and they prefer cash. Our only regret was that we didn’t order more to go.

My go to place for Chinese takeout and delivery. Like others have said it’s not a fancy sit down place and I think they prefer customers get takeout or delivery. That being said the food is always fresh and delicious. I haven’t found a better takeout place in the Waltham/Lexington area. Some of my favorites are the pork in garlic sauce, cumin lamb and general tso’s chicken. Delicious! Portions are big too, 2 entrée’s with rice can easily feed 3 – 4 people.

Don’t expect a fancy sit down restaurant. But if you are okay with Chinese hole in the wall, you’ll love this place. Reminded me of my days living in China — the server doesn’t really care about you but will respond quickly to requests(eg extra soy sauce). We got the egg drop soup, hot sweet soy milk, soup dumplings and chicken eggplant hotpot with rice. All was outstanding! Perfectly seasoned. Not too salty. Not too sweet. The xiaolongbao were the best I’ve found in the U.S.(better than Din Tai Fung). We went for an early lunch so still not crowded and pleasant to eat in.
