High quality ingredients, that’s what I tasted here. The store is clean and a bit eclectic with various pieces of art on the walls. Coffee was pretty good, not the best, but I’m a bit of a snob. If I lived here, this would be a regular stop without a doubt.

Great place for a weekend coffee and bagel. Staff is very friendly. Get there early(before 10am) because they will run out of bagels.

Nice spot to get a quick breakfast. Love their onion bagel with cream cheese or any of their bagel sandwiches. Never tried the coffee, but I hear good things. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

Great Bagel is a staple in my life. They are actually«great bagels.» So many options of bagels(but they do run out throughout the day so it’s best to get there early. I normally get an everything or sesame bagel as the«Melt» sandwich with turkey, Swiss, scallions and lettuce or sometimes I stick with cream cheese. The fresh-squeezed OJ is amaze but comes with a hefty $ 6.50 price tag, so unless I’m feeling some scurvy-like lack of vitamin C, I’m not buyin it. I’ll go with the much more economical, and very tasty, iced coffee. They are great for breakfast with friends, or just picking up a bagel solo.

When I come back to Lexington I am always nostalgic for Great Bagel. The atmosphere is welcoming and it is my go to breakfast place. The bagels are always soft/flavorful and the added sugar to the chocolate chip, French toast, and cinnamon bagels give them added flare. I love grabbing a coffee here and meeting up to catch up with college friends. There is normally a line long on weekend mornings, but they work quickly to get you your food. Great Bagels and a great place for breakfast/lunch.

YUM. That’s all there is to say about this place. So many bagel choices. All available for loading up with sweet or savory toppings. Add in some strong hot coffee on the side and you’ve got the recipe for a truly great bagel. The name doesn’t lie.

Been there many times and it’s always good. Staff is friendly and fast. Bagels are done the way bagels should be done soft and cheey but not too chewy. They nail it. New Yorker and Bourbon Cream are the favs with us. 2 thumbs up.

A great place for Bagels! And coffee. Usually very busy, but they work fast to get you served. If you don’t like hanging with college students, don’t come here It is a local favorite for UK students. We usually have toasted bagel with cream cheese, and coffee. We are pretty bland in our choices, but you don’t have to be. The menu offers plenty of breakfast sandwich combinations, as well as some other morning choices. Parking lot is a little small, but spots seem to open fairly quickly. Try them out when you aren’t looking for a big breakfast!

Great place for breakfast. I can defiantly see the reviews about the line out the door although it wasn’t that bad when I arrived. I think from getting in line to getting food was about 10 minutes. Since I am not from here, I am not sure where uk is in relation to this place but they are definitely a favorite here. I would definitely come back here.

One of my favorite places to go to breakfast! Great Bagel and their welcoming staff set the perfect place to get a good start on the day. I haven’t had anything there that I have not liked thus far, but my favorite is the French Toast Bagel with butter and jam! A must try is their tea. I do have to warn you it is not like your traditional tea. When I first tried it, I wasn’t sure I liked it, but now that is the main reason I go some days. They are usually pretty busy on the weekend if you are catching a late breakfast, so just come early to avoid some of it. But they are still usually pretty quick in preparing everything.

Four out of fives times they were not open at seven am. Seriously get your stuff together or open a lunch place not a bagel place. I did add one star because sadly they do have really good bagels… not that there are many options in Lexington. Last time I went to get a dozen for work I had to walk away as the door was still locked at 7:05, as did a other lady who was hoping to get a dozen for the school up the street.

This place has the best bagels in town. I was really impressed with their breakfast sandwiches and coffee. I got an egg bagel with egg and cheese on it. Watching them cook it right there made me love it more. I love fresh cooked foods. I took some bagels home because I really fell in love with this place.

There is always a line at this place and it is well deserved. The bagels here are comparable to doughy goodness I’ve had in NY, but with much friendlier people(they don’t rush you to order). They have all sorts of bagel sandwiches from savory to sweet and breakfast to lunch fillings. Overall, a great breakfast and lunch spot. Just be prepared for the usual line.

This place is all around solid. The bagels are very fresh and technically well executed. If you’re a stickler about perfect New York style texture, you may be slightly disappointed(but then again, you’re also probably expecting too much in the first place). The menu is basically a creative array of «breakfast» and«lunch» bagel sandwiches, plus a few soups and salads. My boyfriend and I both got the«NYC»: lox, cream cheese, tomato, and red onion. I got it on a poppy seed, and it’s worth noting that the bagel was well coated with seeds(it’s always a bummer when a good bagel is skimpy on the toppings). All the fillings were heaped on in generous portions, and at $ 6.45, it was a steal! They serve Intelligentsia coffee, the famed Chicago roaster known for consistency and complex flavor. Though I only had a cold press(which was delish), I did creep on their espresso set up a bit. With an all-manual machine and a barista who knew what he was doing, I would order a craft beverage there with confidence. Though the place was busy, the cashier moved the line quickly and we got our food in less than 5 minutes. The whole staff seemed to be enjoying themselves, while also working really well together. The interior is basic, but comfortable. With tons of natural light and free wifi, if would be a good place to come to get a little work/reading done. Also, they have a parking lot, which I’m learning(as a new resident of Lexington) is a big bonus. I’m looking forward to trying more things on the menu and anticipate many return visits!

True story: I had a dream about bagels and I woke at 3am Sunday, searched Unilocal for a place to get some. I guess I’m weird like that but stop judging me. To be perfectly honest I selected this place(the great bagels) because I was curious to see how many bagels are on each stick. However I got way than bargain for. I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel. The bagel was just like I’ve had a the café on 24& Lexington in Manhattan. Boiled is the only way to do this type of bread. The bagel was very dense and chewy just like I love. The sweet raisins and the sprinkle of sugar crystals complimented the pork and eggs nicely. I also ordered 2 plain bagels for wife and daughter. My daughter can be very over dramatic but based on her reaction if she was writing this she would give it five stars. My wife on the other hand is very picky and she loved the bagels. If I had I a complaint it would be the strawberry cream cheese spread. It seemed like they used unripe strawberry’s. Other than that this place will be my Sunday am hang out.

Round(but not perfectly), brown and crispy(but not crunchy), somewhat chewy crumb, and better when fresh and warm, it’s a bagel! I’m a New Yorker, born and bread(lol) there. Bagels are one of my food groups and one of the things I miss since we moved. Great Bagel bakes great bagels and dresses them nicely, too. I have discovered my bagel connection. Food is excellent, staff is friendly, prices are fair. Very limited parking, and they close at 3 so selections are limited after lunch. The best bagels I have had in Lexington.

I stopped in on a Monday at 2 pm to order a bagel sandwich for a late lunch. They were completely out of bagels. When you sell bagels and the word bagel is in your name, it is inexcusable to not have any bagels available an hour before you close for the day.

This is the only bagel place in town(that I am aware of) to get a bagel with cream cheese and lox. The bagels are tasty and there is at least one special bagel and cream cheese. These are not the overly bready or fluffy like the chain stores. These have texture and a local feel. I usually get the hot brown breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel. I love the breakfast and bagel spin they have for the Kentucky hot brown. Today, I went just for the everything bagel with butter. The smell of the toasted garlic is intoxicating. Make sure you stop by and give this place a try.
