Hands down my favorite pizza in Lexington. Super unique topping and sauces! The portions are enormous though so bring a group! The Holy Shiitake is definitely my favorite. The service is always great!

This is a favorite pizza place for my husband and I! The crust is seasoned well and the pizza is really good! I also love the pretzels and turbo dog beer cheese(one of the biggest reasons I visit Mellow Mushroom!). It’s got a very eclectic atmosphere and is a fun place to eat!

I absolutely LOVE this place! The atmosphere is so trippy with its psychedelic/old rock décor. Mellow is definitely one of my new favorite places. Service was great, and the gluten free/vegan pizza was fantastic!

Unfortunately my visit to Mellow Mushroom was not great or even good or even ehh. It took exactly an hour to get half a meatball hoagie and a pub burger, I fear that if we had gotten the full hoagie we would of never made it to work on time. The customer service was ok. Other tables that arrived 20+ after us received their food much quicker. We are for sure not coming back anytime soon, were expecting much more based on previous experiences.

I begin with a disclaimer: I’m from Chicago and am a complete pizza snob. This was horrible. I would have enjoyed a slice from the speedway down the street better than this place. They have things that have no right to be on a pizza. Atmosphere is a little hippish. My husband(not a chicagoian) thought it wasn’t bad.

Yum yum yum! You will wait a bit on your yummy pizza! But it’s worth it. The atmosphere is fun and the workers are down to earth. This is the best pizza I have ever eaten. Make sure you try the buffalo chicken pizza with their yummy yummy own ranch!

We really enjoy this location. The pizza is the one of the best. We enjoy the unique crust. The many craft beers make each visit unique and for those who prefer a healthy option the salads are very good. I also recommend the pretzels with beer cheese.

The gluten free pizzas are my favorite! Everytime I get a pizza here the ingredients are fresh and it always tastes amazing. The Kosmic Kharma pizza is delicious! Yum!

A friend and I ordered the large BBQ chicken pizza($ 24 bucks makes it more expensive than most) and the large amounts of BBQ sauce ruined the pizza. The sauce tasted just awful and made my tongue very uncomfortable. The«Sprite» I got tasted exactly like sparkling tap water. My friends didn’t like their fountain soda either. To be fair, friends told me the Shittake pizza was on point

First time to a Mellow mushroom and loved it. Our server was amazing and totally entertained my 2.5 year old son. I wish I could remember our servers name because I would recommend and ask for him again. Our pineapple, ham, mushroom and green olive pizza was epic. I cannot wait to go back again.

Great chain pizza place located near UK campus. It was really busy for a Wednesday night so we sat outside. Service was excellent. The Thoroughbred drink was so amazing I had to have two. The gluten free pizza is always great. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, the multitude of homeless and mentally ill people hovering over our table throughout the meal. That was pretty sad. You can always get the pizza to go.

Decided to have dinner here after learning of their«Steal the Pint» promotion via ! Tried the West Sixth Octoberfest brew and kept the glass for $ 1. Enjoyed the beer. Decided to try their Magic Mushroom Soup along with a pizza with nontraditional sauce. We ordered the Gourmet White and added Pepperoni. The soup was pure perfection and I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of mushrooms! As for the pizza we loved the olive oil and garlic base along with the cheeses, onions, and both sun-dried and Roma tomatoes. The pepperoni we added was just the right complement, and as for the crust we loved the texture and taste! This restaurant isn’t just for the college crowd. Please don’t overlook this gem!

The server was nice but she was very inexperienced and we ordered 3 pizzas. One mighty meaty, one cheese & one house special. The mighty meaty pizza arrived with RAW bacon! That’s mellow Nasty! The other two pizzas were good & the bacon on the house special was cooked perfectly. The only RAW bacon was on the mighty meaty pizza! Our server showed her inexperience and did nothing about it. Her response was(«a long pause & then asked me if I wanted more bacon»). I don’t trust the kids at this place to remake me a new pizza for fear of what they might do to it!

I begin every pizza Unilocal review the same way. I state I’m from Chicago and am accustomed to the best pizza in America(it’s not from New York. Trust me, the best is NOT from New York, but I digress). Whenever I write a Unilocal pizza review, I compare the food I’m eating to the great pizzas of Chicago(Giordano’s, Lou Malnati’s, etc). Overall, this pizza is not bad. I called for an order for pick-up. The lady sounded like she was in a big rush, and the background sounded like people screaming at the New York Stock Exchange. I wish I had more of a personal experience on the phone, but nonetheless, I’m sure she was busy. I had the Bleu Bayou which was thick, loaded, and tasty. The crust wasn’t overwhelming, and there was a good ratio of toppings, cheese, and crust. This place had a wide variety of non-traditional pizzas(which seem to be all the rage here in KY), and after my first pie, I’d be willing to try other specialty pizzas here. I picked up my pizza way later than expected, but it was still warm and tasted fresh. The man at the front hooked me up with plates and napkins. Parking wasn’t horrible. I found a street spot 2 blocks away. The main thing keeping me from coming here often(besides caloric intake) and giving this place 5 stars is the price. I paid nearly $ 15 for a small pizza. It came to 4 slices and looked around the same size as a cheap frozen pizza from the grocery store. There were a lot of toppings and fresh ingredients that make this way better than a cheap frozen pizza, but $ 15 for that size of pizza is still a lot of money. A dine-in experience for two could easily add up to $ 35+ after tip, drinks, and a bigger pizza. People told me I had to try this place, and I’m glad I did. Mellow Mushroom has amazing specialty pizzas, just make sure you have a good amount of money on-hand.

Less than impressed. We were seated right away. There were only a handful of tables occupied. Saturday mid afternoon wasn’t very busy. But we sat at the table for over 5 minutes before anyone greeted us or brought water. It had been so hot and humid that day we were dying for water. The young man who waited on us was nice in a valley girl kind of way. He tried to up sell us into appetizers but honestly we waited so long for someone to actually come by the table we were ready to order. The food was decent. My husband had their house calzone and liked it. I thought it bland. I had the chicken Caesar salad which was huge! But it’s hard to screw up a salad and was good. Bottom line– service was 3⁄5 and food about the same. It’s close to campus so I guess we weren’t their target audience. :/

I have had many pizzas in my life and this is the best I have had yet. Go safe for first visit and get the House Special. It’s the supreme style.

I’ve been to a Mellow Mushroom on vacation, but this was my first visit to the Lexington location. I went on a Saturday night with friends. The atmosphere was lively. The restaurant felt cozy on a cold winter’s day. Our server was fun and friendly. He didn’t write down our order(which always makes me nervous) but he got all of the orders right for our party of 6. Many of my friends were excited about the gluten free options. There were two vegans in the group who found many options they liked there as well. I got the Mega Veggie pizza which was topped with just about every vegetable imaginable. It was very good and came out quickly. They had a nice beer selection. A lot of the other pizzas looked pretty yummy. My friend had hers topped with pesto. It was just what you would want a pizza joint to be and a good place for groups. I will be back.

Food here is great. Pizza crust is great! Many unique pizzas. My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Hummus appetizer is as good as any Mediterranean restaurant in town. Sandwiches are top notch and huge! Basically the best pizza in town.
