Clean restaurant and restrooms. I ordered the Bourbon Chicken lunch special. $ 5.50, without a drink. Chicken is a little fatty and the fried rice has a sweet taste, I did not mix it with the bourbon sauce. Egg roll is typical, nothing really stands out. The owner taking orders is friendly. I would come here again but wouldn’t go out of of my way.

We found this just cross our hotel which still open at 9:30pm.It is a sweet and neat place. The owner was so nice and agreed all of our request because we don’t like several sauces. We don’t want to postpone their working time so we decided to take out. He gave us extra hot sauce which he said it was typical Chinese spicy and we need to try. It was very good! Nice place to have a try!

Shanghai Bistro is a small Chinese restaurant that I believe mainly serves as a takeout place, but it’s interior is very nicely decorated so it doubles as a fast casual restaurant. If you eat in they serve your food on plates and bring it out to your table when it is ready. They have a lunch combination special for $ 8.75(soup, salad, or egg roll, white or fried rice and entrée). This could be the weekend price, as we came on a Sunday. The portions were large. I had the egg drop soup and enjoyed it. My boyfriend’s sister loved the salad that came with her lunch. The presentation was very cute with a slice of mandarin orange on top. The friend rice that came with my entrée was fairly bland, but the chicken lo mien was tasty.

The atmosphere was really nice and quaint. I was impressed at how fast they were able to prepare my order. It was super quick. The food was in line with other Chinese restaurants in the area. I can’t say anything really stood out as being above average, but it was in line with my expectations for local Chinese food.

Total rip off! I am a regular at the Tates Creek location, and always get the same thing — General Tso Tofu and white rice. At Tates Creek it costs me $ 8.40. I was in the area and decided to stop at this location to avoid driving all over town, and not only did I have to repeat myself 3 times, but I was charged $ 11.66! From now on I will ONLY go to the Tates Creek location. *update* Upon receiving my very expensive tofu, it was incredibly under done and bland. VERY disappointed. Couldn’t even eat it(and I am NOT picky in the slightest) — had to toss it out.

I met a friend of mine here for lunch the other day. It was a very small little place located in the plaza next to Tom + Chee. My friend eats at this place all the time, but it was my first time. The lady taking the orders was the owner and was really nice and helpful. She suggested that I get Sambal Shrimp with rice. It was the perfect combo of curry and coconut. I am really glad I took the owners suggestion. We also sampled their spring rolls. Just for the record, they fry their spring rolls here. I was told this place delivers and they have really cheap lunch specials around $ 5. I will be back to this place for sure. Check them out if you are in the area.

So we ordered our food at around 630 and chose for delivery. We waited and we waited. We waited until around an hour had passed, we called to see if maybe the driver had gotten lost in our neighborhood. The person on the other end said it takes about 45 mins for delivery, so we said ah ok must be running behind. We waited another 30 mins, and still nothing so we called again. This time they said that the delivery guy is outside and our food is there, we asked what the heck that meant. The person on the other end said they would check and call us back. So we waited another 20 mins, by this time my wife went out and got alternate dinner for us since we were never getting out food. After about 10 more minutes the driver called and asked if we were in the circle he was outside of, we informed him that we would not be paying for food that we ordered 1:50 mins ago. What is even worse is that I am afraid that the food had been sitting for a good portion of this whole ordeal and would not eat this at all in good conscious. We could have driven to them 5 times before we even knew our food hadn’t left their location.

I got a to go order of soup and steamed wontons. Paid and tipped over 20% for a take out, then imagine my dismay to discover my order was not prepped. No spoon, no napkins and if I hadn’t of asked again for the chopsticks, I’d be eating with my fingers. On to food: wontons had a good flavor but we’re on the doughy side. Soup was good but could have been more sour. Little chips that go with soup were stale.

Let’s start with some positives. Friendly staff. Nice size portions. Décor was better than most. I got the Garlic Chicken, which was not smothered in sauce, just coated the way it should be. Lots of veggies, but dominated by large florets of broccoli. The veggies seemed fresh. My wife got the Pahd Thai, which was a mistake — wrong sauce, no tamarind, no sprouts. Not the worst, but not Thai either. My g-daughter got Beef Lo Mein. She ate it all and said it was good. The steamed dumplings were below expectations. They weren’t bad, they just weren’t as good as even Noodles and Company’s. The dough was thick, and they were served without any garnish. The sauce was pretty much straight soy, but it did have some chopped onions. Bill for dinner portions = $ 40.17. Let’s end with a positive: it’s the best Chinese I’ve had in Lexington. I’d have given it a 3.5 if I could. It’s close to my house, so I’ll probably try it again.

For fresh, reasonably priced Chinese there is no better place. Items we have enjoyed include General Tso’s Chicken, Orange Chicken, Orange Beef, and the Hot and Sour Soup! Their egg rolls are also tasty and we often upgrade the white rice to fried rice or Lo Mein with Brown Sauce. The only menu item we have been disappointed in was the Bourbon Chicken which we found hard and dry(probably overcooked) and lacking sauce. Shanghai Bistro offers many delicious dishes and we highly recommend this restaurant!

Stopped in for lunch with my mom today. I didn’t realize this little place was here. It’s a small little restaurant maybe holds 30 – 40 people for dine in. The décor is nice and the lady at the counter was nice and very friendly. Lunch specials are 6.25 for dish steamed or fried rice and choice of salad/soup/egg roll. The portions ere good sized. The rice was cooked perfectly and everything tasted fresh. Will definitely be stopping back in sometime.

Great little lunch spot. Always fresh veggies, and flavorful sauces. I’ve had their Kung Pao, Honey Mustard, Bourbon, and garlic chicken — never been disappointed. The calamari app is light, crispy, and tender with 2 tasty dipping sauces. Overall it’s pretty typical Americanized Chinese food. Good for a lighter, veggie filled lunch when you just can’t eat another burger:)

This isn’t the best place for Chinese food. We tried the vegetable lo mein and sesame chicken. The thickness of the sauce on the sesame chicken was a bit to gelatinous and I found myself trying to scrape it off. It gets 2 stars since the food was hot, but unfortunately we will have to pursue other options when a Chinese food craving hits us.

I have frequented this restaurant and the quality of their food is consistently superior to most Chinese fast food. Their steamed pot stickers are good enough without their excellent and unique soy/ginger/chili oil sauce concoction. The vegetables are always fresh and cooked properly to retain good flavor and texture. The meat portions are generous and satisfying. But you can always judge a Chinese restaurant by the egg rolls. Theirs appear to be made in-house and are flavorful and don’t have a freezer-burn taste. They also deliver if you so desire.

I really like the style this place is going for. The simple Chinese place. The service here was really good. I like the whole free refills out fountain drinks. The price isn’t bad for what you get. My biggest down fall was 1) they bring out the soup and not even as I take the first slurp of my soup the lady comes out with my food. Well I was like okay I guess they are quick at making the food. Well this is were 2) comes in. Are finishing my soup I take a bite into my chicken and it was just warm. Like that kind of warm were it’s been sitting under a heating lamp for hours. Was not happy after that. Not a place I would come back too.

Actually eating the take out pepper steak right now. Fairly small, but have eaten sit down there several times. Fast service and always friendly. The dine in portions are quite large and I always struggle to finish them. I’ve eaten several dishes and no complaints about anything. I like that they do have pickup and delivery and that you can place an order online.

A good, non-cheap-buffet-style Chinese place, what? I’m so glad I found this place, because each time I’ve eaten there, it’s been great. I tried their pad thai just a couple days ago, and I think I actually preferred it to Mai Thai’s pad thai. I was definitely surprised to prefer the pad thai at a Chinese place over that at a Thai place. I’ve also tried some basil-y chicken dish with lots of vegetables, which was good. They have decent fresh sweet tea, too – another surprise for a Chinese place.
