Love coming here for lunch or dinner when my boyfriend and I are in town. Love eating by the water. Prime rib is wonderful and we always always always get the artichoke spinach dip as an appetizer. Can’t wait to go again in a few months!

This evening we found our way to Lexington, MI on the shores of Lake Huron. Since it’s fall, most of the local dining spots have closed up shop for the season or have limited schedules. We selected the Windjammer for our meal. We started with a cherry slush i.e., which our waitress Taylor said would be really good, and it did not disappoint. For our main course we ordered the Lake perch and the ribeye. All entrees come with a choice of soup or salad, starch selection(baked, fries, red skins or rice), and famous home made bread. Prior to ordering the onion soup, we asked another couple if it was good and they said yes, so we went with that as a starter. They serve you a cup size, btw, and there’s a dollar up charge which I must have missed in the menu. The broth was flavorful, and there was the correct ratio of bread to cheese, however the cheese could be of better quality, and the herbs on top and sherry was missing. I need to tell you that I am onion soup connoisseur and make it from scratch, so the bar is set rather high. Famous home made bread… good, hot and served in long white bags. Entrees: Ribeye steak was ok, it was spiced with their zip sauce and came with broccoli and a baked potato which were fine. The hubby said it was ok. Lake Perch, I liked it! Lightly breaded, generous serving, I had redskins, which were good and broccoli which was overcooked and mushy. The ambience of this place is mixed. You could see that in season, the outdoor bar would be packed. The marina view is nice watching the boats and the water. We were in the main dining room, and it looked like several of the rooms were closed for the remainder of the season as winter approaches. The windows were dirty looking out at the lake view. The décor is dated, the bathrooms need an update. It’s mostly a hodgepodge of nautically themed 70’s era tchotchkes and statues of Mariners. I wish there was a way to leave a 3 ½ star rating.

We just got back from a Sunday afternoon drive. We headed north and stopped here to eat lunch. The waitress was prompt, the bread was a hard bread but it was good. I had the fettuccine alfrado with shrimp and the house salad. All was good. Portions could have been larger. 5 shrimp for the alfrado. Joe had the steak which was cooked to perfection! The décor was fine, nothing too fancy. If it had been warmer outside we would have had lunch on the deck. All and all it was a good experience in dining… I just wished for more shrimp!

I LOVE this place. I love the name, I love the vibe, I love the chowder(I crave it when I’m gone), the whole package works and I’d eat every meal here(and drink here all day) if I could during our weekends in Lexington. It’s slim pickings in town so I say: thank goodness, for the ‘jammer.

Great food. We just had a beer and Salads, but top quality food, well presented quickly, and warm bread and butter brought to the table. The only issue *some* may have is this is at the Marina in Lexington, MI and someone the night we were there was BLASTING their music, which you could hear all over. No way around this, I guess — but know if you plan to dine outside like I did, this is possible. Otherwise — highly recommended.

Just a few bites form our full experience. «A historic building from 1854 stood out because of its interesting veranda patio. We were a bit early; the restaurant opens at 9:30 am for clients not staying at the inn.» «There was plenty of indoor space in small scattered rooms with brightly coloured artwork. The interior felt homey yet somehow trendy with a vintage twist to it.» «.if there is ever an option to have slow roasted tomatoes as a side instead of home fries — do not pass on it. Juicy, chewy and fresh — these veggies tasted like sun-dried variety, but more flavourful.»

Excellent food and beautiful view but the décor is very tired. Certainly could use a coat of paint and updated flooring and walls. Service was very good.

We came out with a party of eight people. We made a reservation ahead of time so that we would get a seat. We requested to be sitting somewhere near the water or a window. However when we were seated we were put in as far away from the windows and water as possible. We mention this to the hostess and she said the person who took your reservation should never have told you that they would see you there. Also it took nearly one hour for us to get our food. As we had another event to attend to besides dinner and too hungry children with us this was quite a problem. Also we watched many tables that were seated after us get their food and even leave before we got our food. Once we got the food it was fairly tasty and everyone enjoyed their meals. Because the hostess was not very accommodating oreven apologetic about giving us poor seating in the service was slow we left disappointed

Go for the view. The staff often seems vacant and as if we are bothering them asking questions about ingredients, sizes, hours, specials. We had hummus and it had an odd burnt flavor. We also ordered a pizza. It was ok. They advertised a free nacho bar for happy hour. The chips were a bit stale. They did have early beer and margaritas cheap(until 6). We’ve stopped here a few times to sit on the water. The food has always been ok at best. I wish the host staff were a bit friendlier and the menu freshened up because this could be a great place.

The Pasta I ordered look like soup. It took a long time for us to be seated or for the waitress to come to our table. I asked if my past it could be fixed all they did was dumped out all of the broth… Then I just had plain noodles without any Alfredo sauce. The waitress forgot to bring us our bill when I asked for it, I had to walk up to the cash register and pay. Because she forgot about us. I did not leave a tip… When I checked my bank account the bill was five dollars over. I called management and they never got back to me. The food has gone downhill. The customer service is horrible. The only reason this place is open is because of the location. I wouldn’t waste my money here again.

Such a great meal last night! I had the special salad Smoked Salmon Caesar w Poached Egg and Avocado. It was fantastic! My husband had the Pan Fried Lake Perch, served w Dill Tarter Sauce, it was excellent! Our server and bartender was Taylor. Shes a lovely, knowledgeable person. On her recommendation i chose the salad. Thank you Miss Taylor.

Our family join each other at the Windjammer for a holiday celebration. It was as fantastic as it was last year, great food quick service, the bread is to die for. Had dinner there again and it was wonderful! It is so nice for the Holidays!
