Words can be a powerful tool. However, I don’t know if there are words strong enough to express the utter disgust and overall disenfranchisement our family has painfully experienced using Complete Appliance Protection(Liberty, MO& Toronto, Canada) This company is a band of crooks, street swindlers, and in every sense of the word; charlatans. They practice chicanery at every corner and swift deceit upon every step. There must be an outpost in Hell for such an enterprise of ‘so called’ home warranty pariah. These troglodytes feed on good people’s sincere intention of having a legitimate insurance plan in place for the eventuality of their appliances failing. They barely even repair anything without first coming up with a litany of what they will and mostly won’t do. Please, please, please, SAVEYOURHARDEARNEDMONEYANDTIME, AVOIDCOMPLETEAPPLIANCEPROTECTION. Here’s our story: We have been with Complete Appliance Protection for three and one-half years. They advertise: no deductible/service call payment, pre-existing conditions such as rust are acceptable etc… Sounds great, right? Affordable plans, right? No. Not so much. We spent $ 87per month for basic appliances and extra for an ice making refrigerator(because they’re so rare. I mean only the ultra rich have ice making fridges). Our appliance doors, levers, latches, springs… not covered. Swimming pool, garage door opener, water softener… not covered. Most other warranty companies cover these items and for less. And yet, they call themselves Complete. Six months after sign-up our water heater failed– the tank rusted through and spewed rusty, red water all over the garage floor. Great! Wait…“Honey, don’t we have a warranty company?” — «Yes Dear. I’ll call them right away». They asked the age of the ‘unit’. After I told them it was five-years-old, they said, «Well, that’s old and we’ll give you a reimbursement of two-hundred-dollars». I was throttled, I ended up paying one-thousand out of pocket! As I alluded to earlier on; they refused to fix the latch opening mechanism of my microwave(two years later, still won’t open), explaining that they only cover magnetrons. They begrudgingly repaired two relays on our AC compressors($ 320) they refused to repair our range hood, explaining that in the ‘small type’ of our BS contract– range hoods aren’t covered–(even though the range came as an integral set with the cooktop) they recently fixed a $ 300 inverter board on our GE fridge but, not without asking the service tech the age of the fridge and if we took good care of it! Their AC tech, that they sent to my house twice, told my wife and I that our compressors are failing and will not make it through this Summer(2015). He said the windings are shot and the ramp-up time was at it’s absolute limit. He explained that the warranty company will undoubtedly refuse a $ 3,800 bill for the replacement of a compressor and coil, and that they would just pay the max allowable($ 500 for the compressor and $ 300 for a coil). Another AC tech they sent to my home two years ago and a plumber friend of mine both advised me that these warranty companies operate on a fifty-percent principle(they have no principles and are reprehensible, recalcitrant thieves)…so, I guess, it’s more a fifty-percent metric. Anyway, this is how it goes: They take a rolling tally of what you’ve paid in so far, when something breaks, they apply the fifty-percent metric. Say that you’ve paid into the warranty $ 600 and the cost of repair is $ 300, your covered. Now, if the cost is $ 550; you’ll be met with the typical, «That appliance is old and we’ll give you max pay out on that item». Which, by the way, is ALWAYS less than fifty-percent of what you’ve paid and, typically, less than one-quarter of the price for a new unit. My AC is hardly running it stays on continually to only affect a temperature change of three to five degrees! Our electric bills have tripled! Yesterday we got a second opinion from another AC company that is super, top-rated on Angie’s List, Unilocal,Google, Yellow Pages, BBB etc… They advised us as well, that our units will fail probably within weeks and are operating terribly. I can’t leave my wife and kids in a home with no AC and 115 degree heat in Phoenix, AZ. As tight as our finances are, I decided to take initiative and have the failing units replaced, because I knew this warranty company would never make the big compressor repairs. The gentleman from the AC company advised me to explain the situation to Complete Appliance; he told me that the more reputable warranty companies will meet you part way and just issue max pay out for the units if you explain that they are failing, old, and you don’t want to be in an un-livable condition upon their failure. Additionally, I just signed a $ 22,000.00 contract for new AC units. Guess what Complete Appliance’s max allowable is? I will tell you: $ 500 for compressors(they’re $ 3,800-$ 5,000) $ 300 fo

Had their $ 60/month plan which is the top one — «Full House Plus». Air conditioner broke. They refuse to repair it because it is uneconomical in their view, so they only offer $ 350 towards replacement cost. Air conditioner costs $ 2,000 to replace. What a joke! They call themselves Complete Protection, but it is far from complete.

As others have suggested, it is important to be realistic about the extent of coverage you buy and what it provides. For instance, no company is going to pay the entire cost of a new cooling unit. Just as with any insurance-type product, you can pay more for greater coverage. We use Complete Appliance Protection at . We have policies for our Indiana home and for our daughter’s condo. In both instances, we have been very pleased with the service. Indeed, we have had three home claims in the past six months and each has been promptly paid with no quibble.(A year-plus with no claims, so everything evens out.) We have an AC unit(15 years old) that is starting to lose coolant, which can be quite expensive to maintain. If you use their preferred providers, there is no bill at all for most services; if you use your own provider, you pay and then are reimbursed.

We have used this company since 2012 and have been very satisfied with their quick response and customer service. We pay $ 69 per month for our plan and every time we’ve called we’ve had no problem in getting our appliances repaired. We particularly like the ability to use our own repair company without having to use an «approved» company that CP uses. For some of our appliances(like LG) it’s difficult to find a repairman but CP has been very good at covering our repairs. Unfortunately we are going to change companies and hope the new one is as good. If not, we’ll be back. Reason for changing companies is that the new one covers more items, and has a better«Reimbursement Schedule Toward New Appliances». As I said, we’ll be back if the new company turns out to be a dud.

Great customer service, but very limited coverage. If you read the contract they cover the first $X of a specific repair. For HVAC this is a ridiculously low $ 500 per unit which means that you are either self-insuring your heat and A/C or you need a separate company for those units. Other appliances are also dollar limited though not so unrealistically. Great choice of technicians, no deductible just understand what you are buying.

I signed up for their best plan, $ 64/month and had no repairs for 7 months. But the very first time I needed a repair, they would not pay. My AC guy told me it would cost $ 1200 to repair, or $ 3400 to replace. They offered ONLY $ 500 which the repairman said would not even cover the cost for him to buy the parts. I complained, and Complete showed me a portion of the contract that says they have the right to refuse any repair they want. My AC is old, and I told them that when I joined. They said not a problem, and even pointed out that any pre-existing condition was covered. «Anything inside the metal casing is covered.» This is a classic case of «say anything to get the customer to sign up» then deny payment when a big repair is needed. I asked them what state they were located in, mentioned filing a complaint. Then they offered to refund all my payments from Day 1, which I gladly accepted. However, I am still stuck with an expensive AC repair job, and buying a warranty from Complete Protection did not help me one bit. Stay away.

I have the Full House Plus — $ 60/month plan(auto-pay via credit card). Three months after moving into my house I was in need of a plumber to fix two issues: water hammer and a leaking pipe connected to my ice maker. I called CAP(who has very friendly customer service reps!) and explained my problem. They gave me an authorization number and said I could call any plumber I wanted to fix the problem, and then they would either pay the plumber directly, or have me pay the plumber and then reimburse me. I called a plumber, and he came out and gave me an estimate to fix the two problems. While the plumber was at my place, he also spoke to CAP and they gave him the go-ahead to complete the work. I paid the plumber directly, and then submitted my reimbursement claim via email to CAP. Two weeks later I had my check from CAP. Yeah, it’s an extra step to get something fixed because you need to call to get the authorization, and potentially also have the fix-it person speak to CAP, but in the end the service I’m paying for worked, so I’m happy!

This is an appliance insurance business. I had enlisted their business to protect my appliances. My A/C failed and they gave me the royal run-around about paying it. With that poor level of service, I simply told them I ceased business with them(basically — that’s the nice way of putting it) and that I wasn’t gonna explain myself. When they give you the runaround and that poor service, why bother dealing with them at all. Turns out it was over $ 4000 to repair my A/C. That doesn’t relieve them of being insurance just because it happened to be expensive. 3 months or so before that, I’d had the A/C checked and it checked out. I had authorized an upgrade and was fully willing to pay the difference. I had called them ahead of time, and _they_called the serviceman. It was their responsibly to them I was their customer and the authorization number. Not mine. I recommend no one deal with this sleazy company: I quote their letter: Re: Claims Process Reminder Dear W N, We are in receipt of the invoice you recently submitted to our office. In speaking with Indoor Weather Professionals, we were made aware that you never identified yourself as being our customer, nor did you provide them with your authorization number for the claim when you called them for an appointment. Consequently, they did not know you were a customer of ours and had no reason to call in to our office for approval or to notify us of any of the repairs/replacements necessary on your system. Please be advised that anytime you call a service company, you must identify yourself as being a customer so the proper procedures are followed. We have authorized the payout of $ 500 towards the replacement and installation of your condensing unit. The technician indicated that you decided to upgrade your system to a 16 seer and replace the entire Air Conditioner [based on what he told W N], Should you have any questions please call Customer Service at1.800.978.2022.
