I’m not a fan of having to go to the dentist. Who is, right? That’s the only reason I can’t really give a 5th star. Maybe I should have, but I just can’t. It’s the dentist for crying out loud! I had to see Dr. Lowe for oral surgery today and the anticipation left me with higher than normal blood pressure and tears. The nurses, along with Dr. Lowe, did their very best to make my experience as stress free as possible. The anesthesia wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I was a first timer for this! Now I’m thinking I want anesthesia for all my future dental work HAHA. The front desk is VERY friendly and personable. The office is quite«manly» in the décor. There are not one, but two, big screen TVs, a plush leather couch, a fireplace, and car magazines in the waiting area. It’s kinda like a man cave. There are even TVs in the treatment rooms. I don’t know why. Aren’t most patients asleep? I suppose the background noise can be comforting. Dr. Lowe came in and spoke to me a bit before the«laughing gas» kicked in. His voice was very soothing and he gave me multiple opportunities to ask questions. When I just couldn’t talk(upset!), he reassured me and answered the questions I was supposed to have asked. He detailed what a dry socket would feel like and urged me not to «just handle it» but come right back in for treatment. He asked me about myself. Good chair-side manner. You couldn’t ask for more. I didn’t see him once I woke up. Maybe that would have been a nice touch. Heck, He may have been there and I just don’t know it! I was not 100% aware. The nurse escorted me to a recovery room. It was bathroom-size with a huge leather chair and a plant. I really didn’t see anything else. After a few minutes the nurse and my hubby escorted me out the back door to our car. The nurse stayed to make sure I got in all the way. It’s been 7 hours since the procedure and I still feel groggy. It’s not nearly as bad as I thought… we’ll see what tomorrow brings. I could have waited to give my review to tell you of a more well-rounded experience, but I’ve learned something important through this. «One does not need all the minute details to be able to make a good decision» and«Don’t put off the inevitable». If you need to see an oral surgeon, don’t put it off. Go see Dr. Lowe. He and his staff are great.
