I honestly dream about the fried rice and sushi from Papa’s Raw Bar. It is one of my favorite restaurants in south Florida and I bring all of my out-of-town guests here when they visit. I highly recommend!

Getting ready to go to our go-to Friday Night Restaurant. This Place is awesome. The food, the staff, the drinks, need i say more? Fena(the manager) is amazing. There can be a crowd of people waiting but somehow she gets everyone sat without a fuss. So for the food, the have a little bit of everything, cooked seafood, raw seafood, sushi, sandwiches, fish platters, and now even cooked japanese food. We go there almost every friday night. Here are our favorites. Wahoo Bites(ask for Siracha Mayo), Clam Chowder(amazing and has no potatoes!) Baby Lamb Chops, Fried Fish, Fried Rice, Hichachi Steak and Veggies. For drinks, they have a very impressive wine list and all sorts of beers. If you arrive before 7 or after 9, the drinks are cheaper(happy hour). They also always have stone crabs on special when they are in season. In addition, they are so welcoming to kids. My daughter is 3. The wait staff always brings her favorites as soon we sit down. They are busy so arriving early or late will get you a seat(and also a cheaper glass of wine due to happy hour). Fena and her crew have it down! You will not be be disappointed!

I never had the need to jump on Unilocal and write a review about a place after i have eaten there. This place is by far amazing. It has a strange concept once you think about it. It has sushi, with craft beer, and a chill surfer vibe… and guess what? It works like hell! I think this is by far one of the coolest places I have eaten at in South Florida. Matter or fact I will be going there tonight. When you go, cause I know like hell you will, the sushi seems a bit on the pricey side, but hey don’t fret the rolls are as big as your soul and guess what? You’ll like it cause it is damn right awesome. I have been known to order the crab wontons quite frequently when I go and I try a different roll everytime I go. Every roll is awesome, food is super fresh, and guess what even better, the beer is cold. I learned after eating here a few times the trick is to catch them on reverse… thats right back it the F up… reverse happy hour… try this place i promise you won’t be disappointed…

Having just been released from jail and craving that raw raw, we hit this place up after a long morning of drinking. I did some time with someone who heard Papa knows how to bring the fresh fish and cold beers with the quickness. I don’t often see alligator on the menu so I pounded the table(twice) and demanded we order some of that too. Had them put it in with their fried rice. Astonishing. We call it alley rice. Shit what else did we get. Stone crab rangoon! It was lit fam Once i put enough money together I’m going to open up a place like this and call it Papa’s II

I was lucky to find this place on Unilocal! When I called to make a reservation, I was told only parties 6 or larger can reserve a table and since we were only four the woman said come early because tonight is HALFOFFOYSTER night! Only $ 9.00 a dozen!!! I wasn’t planning to eat until 7:00 but we arrived at 6:15 to make sure we could get a table and eat mega dozens of raw and grilled oysters! When we checked in we decided to sit at the tables along the bar as it was crowded and had lots of sporting events on numerous big screen TVs.(Great for NCAA and NBA playoffs) We ordered several dozen raw oysters and a few dozen grilled oysters to start. Both were fresh and delicious. The raw oysters were cold, firm yet creamy with the taste of the sea. The grilled oysters were smoky and fresh The soft shell crabs, alaskan king crab legs, ceviche and the sweet and sour shrimp were all insanely delicious. Plus we brought our own bottles of wine and the corkage was only $ 15 dollars The wait staff was excellent and friendly and We met plenty of fun people that helped make the experience here a blast This place is awesome

Dang, yet another place where I wish I was a beer lover. Flights seem to be quite popular. Settled for $ 3 off glass of Kim Crawford sauv blanc. Nice stemware, nice pour. Wife was a bit disappointed that this was a beer and wine only establishment. Place was busy as it should be on a Friday night during HH. Fun atmosphere. Mixed crowd. Server was friendly, informative and attentive. Kept coming back to check on us. Water glasses were kept full and table quickly cleared after each course. Loved both the char grilled mahi and shrip tacos. Good sized shrimp. Really liked the coconut shrimp lettuce wraps. Once again good size shrimp with a nice sauce. Maureen’s Mango roll was a bit bland. Must say loved the concept of a sushi roll with strawberry and mango. Very creative. All in all a pleasant experience but a bit pricey. Loved our 10% off Unilocal check-in.

I have been coming to Papas Raw Bar for quite some time. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is always happening and warm. I therefore decided to celebrate my birthday here. I drove in from Parkland with my family and had my parents(whom can be tough to please) meet us there. Once again, was not disappointed!!! Fena and Chris treated us like royalty!!! My parents loved the establishment!!! They loved the food… From the rich clam chowder, to the fresh and unique sushi rolls… all exquisitely delicious!!! I can’t say enough. Please do not hesitate to come… You won’t be disappointed!!!

Love this place! Half off oysters on Thursday is absolutely heaven! Strongly recommend their sushi rolls, they are not your average south Florida sushis!

If you’re ever visiting Fort Lauderdale and you’re craving for seafood, this is the place to be! Thanks to Unilocal we were able to to make a decision where to have dinner on our first night. When we first walked in, Fena, our host was very friendly and helpful. Her persona was warming, inviting and approachable. She made it feel like home away from home. Chef Toby made us a special complementary apps so we were able to try different types of food amongst items we ordered. Our waitstaff, Courtney, made sure that we were taking care of. As soon as she knew we were on vacation, she did everything to make sure it’ll be an amazing experience. I’m not sure if this establishment is family owned or not, but they sure work together really well as a team. Best experience ever and I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family. Thank you!

If you like a good clam chowder, you have to order it! Enough for a meal and ridiculously good! I get a half pint to go from next door at Seafood World frequently. Outrageous flavor, tender clams. Just the ingredients you really want and nothing else like gobs of potatoes some places put in. The service has been great and the people are friendly.

This place is awesome. We’ve been fans of Seafood World for as long as I can remember, but this place has a much younger, cooler, new school kind of vibe with a killer beer selection and a super impressive sushi & non-sushi food menu. First of all, what good is great beer if it’s not cold? This place has ice cold beer in a cold glass. THANKYOU. It’s not that hard but some people just can’t get that part right. They have probably a solid dozen of rotating draft beer selections and maybe almost 100 can or bottle choices. I don’t know anywhere aside from Yardhouse or World of Beers where you’re going to find selection like that and this is sans the crowded douchey atmosphere(I love those places, but yea sorry it’s a little much sometimes). Food-wise: the steak fried rice is DELICIOUS. This isn’t your typical Chinese takeout kind of deal and don’t be scared of by the hefty price tag of $ 16 either, cuz it’s totally worth it. We get it as an appetizer to split between 3 – 4 people and everyone gets enough tasty, sticky, delicious rice, a very generous and healthy portion of a good quality steak cubes/pieces, plus there’s a very tasty dipping sauce that I have to figure out the recipe for. Just order it. It’ll make you smile if you like steak and/or fried rice. We’ve had a few of their sushi rolls, but so far the Firecracker roll and Wabo Cabo(or whatever it’s called) are our favorites. They do a lot of different and super creative sushi rolls here with seafood you don’t find everywhere, like wahoo, conch, different types of roe, etc. but wow, they are all amazingly fresh. This place probably has the freshest and best quality sushi-grade fish you’re going to find in South Florida, and again, despite the seemingly hefty price tag ringing in at about $ 20 per roll, these rolls are HUGE. One roll is probably double what you’d get somewhere else for about $ 12 – 13 and of much higher quality to boot. We have done 2 rolls for 3 people or 3 rolls for 4 people after the fried rice appetizer and everyone left full and very content. Must visit! Make sure you don’t drive past it, and even if you do, it’s worth the u-turn.

As the 3-stars imply it was A-OK. I really, really wanted to looove this place. But at the end of the day, I just can’t based on what I ordered, the service and the price point. FOOD I came here with four other people, and we all ordered something different. Two people loved the two rolls they had, but what rolls they were I’m not sure. One person couldn’t eat their roll because she was allergic to an ingredient that was in it that wasn’t listed in the menu(not sure if it was missing from the menu or the chef added it). She got some fried rice with shrimp later, and that was actually really flavorful. Nothing like what you get from a Chinese restaurant. SO much better. One person got the shrimp burger, which he asked for fries with but they forgot. And it’s not on a bun or anything — it comes on a bed of lettuce. I got a calamari salad — which I was told was a dinner salad. And it’s not. It’s like the size of a small side salad … for ~$ 15, I think. And I got a spicy salmon hand roll, which was only $ 5, and probably one of the best things I had. We also go two ceviches to share with the table: Jess’ Jalepeno and the Peruvian. We asked if we could get two different seafood proteins(tuna and crab and conch and crab), and they said we could. But there was hardly any seafood. It was mostly tomatoes and cucumbers. DEFINITELY not worth the $ 30 we paid(for EACH). It was probably the worst rip off I’ve had in awhile. Think of it as a salad, not ceviche. DRINKS They do have a good beer selection. I didn’t see a list with mixed drinks, but I didn’t ask either. I had a flight, and all the beers were good. SERVICE Our waitress was nice and friendly. But she made some bad recommendations and didn’t come back to check on us for awhile after we got our orders. The chefs in the back either don’t know their menu or they add foods … which might be great for some people but not for my friend with her allergy. They did take the roll off our tab though, which was nice considering someone else ate it. COST Waaay too much for what you(don’t) get. The rolls looked decent and might’ve been worth it, but I don’t know because I didn’t try them. They looked good though(if you like them with tons of sauce and stuff). But $ 17 for a shrimp patty and $ 15 for a plate with a few pieces of calamari on it? I was expecting more. And the price of the ceviche was just incomprehensible though. $ 30 for a small plate with a few pieces of tuna or conch and crab(with they barely give you any of) with tomatoes and cucumbers? What there was was good, but it wasn’t good enough to justify the price point. LOCATION It’s in a strip mall — don’t miss it. If you’re using Google maps it’ll take you to the wrong location — just look to the east. It’s across the street. It’s got a cute, local dive bar feel to it. I was really hopeful. Overall, miiiiight go back to try something different but doubtful.

Tonight we finally got around to Papa’s Raw Bar. Showed up just after 7 and the place was packed. Luckily we were seated pretty quickly. Also, I found out an old friend was working there who I hadn’t seen in years. Always good to see a familiar face. Started off with some raspberry tea. They only serve beer and wine which is fine. We were there to dine! Heheh Started off with a couple appetizers… Panko fried wahoo bites with homemade yum yum sauce. Unfortunately for the girlfriend, she was being a little stubborn and refused to try them. More for me! Loved them! She wanted the shrimp spring rolls which were decent but didn’t do much for me. The main reason we went was for the crab, Alaskan King crab to be exact. They sell by the pound so each of us ordered one. They come with two sides, I went with fries and dirty rice, she went with dirty rice and broccoli. The crabs came out steamed, one claw and one leg with lemon, melted butter, and an old bay type seasoning. We killed it! By that I mean we ate every little bit! De-licous! I could have kept going but would have regret it later. Another great place not far from home! WIN!

Casual and cool, attentive friendly service, live music, TV’s everywhere and amazing fresh seafood — What else could a local ask for!!! I am mad that I have been missing out! Papa’s Raw Bar is close to my house and I have been wanting to check it out, I wish I would have made it over sooner because it’s an awesome spot. The restaurant has tables and seating at the bar. There is a Sushi chef serving the freshest made rolls and Sashimi. The restaurant is Beer and Wine only, but it’s hardly limiting since it offers over 100 Craft Beers including local favorites like Funky Buddha, Due South and Cigar City, the beer selection is out of control. The Wine list and Sake options are equally impressive and I love that the wine is served in proper crystal wine glasses and not the average cheap-glass that most restaurants settle for, it’s the simple things like the thin wine glass touching your lips that makes it that much more enjoyable. The menu is also very well though out, appetizers, Ceviches, Hibachi Fried Rice made to order, seafood tacos, burgers, Raw Bar, Fresh fish cooked to order and so much more. What blew me away were the grilled oysters. Prepared with fresh green scallions, garlic, soy sauce and topped with Parmesan cheese then grilled to perfection, they were simply amazing! They also have live music, and many weekly specials: Happy Hour 4pm-7pm &9pm — Close $ 2 off all draft beer $ 1 off beer cans & bottles $ 3 off glass of wine Every day during happy hour large stonies are $ 6. Thursdays: ½ off Oysters(Grilled or Raw) Sat & Sun $ 7: Peel & eat shrimp, cheeseburgers, wings, quesadillas, steamed & clams casino
