Blue Hawaiian Helicopters

We just went to Kauai (⁶⁄₂₀₁₆) and Blue Hawaiian helicopters was one of our highlights. Our pilot was Miguel and myself, my husband, and my almost 2 year old son loved it. Lap infants are given hearing protection which is great, but they won’t be able to listen to any of the music or tour. They were extremely professional and Miguel gave an excellent tour. He was perfectly willing to answer questions and highlighted great tours. I am 21 weeks pregnant and got air sick at the end, but each seat back is well stocked with refreshing towels and airsick bags, so no worries there. It really was wonderful and the best way to see Kauai. We probably saw 200+ waterfalls and loved every minute of it.

Blue Hawaiian had excellent customer service! We did the whole island tour which was 50 minutes, well worth every penny. You get to see what seems like hundreds of waterfalls that you would never see from driving the island. Some are thousands of feet tall! Our pilot Barrett, was extremely knowledgeable about the whole island, lots of fun facts. They fly you right up to some of the waterfalls and a caldera. I was focused on taking really good photos which is tough to do from inside a helicopter with glass between you and the landscape, even though everyone was wearing dark clothes to minimize glare. I was able to get some good shots but it was difficult to eliminate glare. If your really into photography I would recommend doing a tour with the helicopter doors off. Otherwise this tour will work just fine.

They provide an exceptional experience to compliment the amazing views of The Garden Island. I highly recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopters!
Our pilot (Miguel) was extremely personable and provided plenty of interesting info about the island. He delivered a smooth flight and stunning views of this amazing island. Most importantly, we made a nice and smooth landing!
The waiting area is super comfortable, clean, cool, organized, and inviting. The check in and safety briefing were very organized and easy experiences. They offer nice souvenirs, but they don’t beat you down with upgrade or add-​on offers, and you get a fantastic experience for your standard ticket. The optional personalized video of your flight is a nice addition at $ 25, but I wouldn’t say it’s a must-​have. The standard DVD has some amazing views and history of all the islands.

Best experience I had during my trip. It felt like I was flying on a magic carpet through the beautiful canyons, waterfalls and Napali Coast of Kauai. Not only was the actual ride breathtaking and smooth we learned a ton of fascinating facts about the island from our pilot (Shea). He was so mellow during the entire flight; the dramatic background music made it feel like I was in a movie. I had a ton of questions and special requests to accommodate my 1 year old and all the workers were so sweet and helpful. We went with this company over the others due to safety records and price. You can’t leave Kauai without experiencing the Napali Coast, waterfalls & canyons and there is no better way to do it!
Tip: Wear a solid dark top/​shirt otherwise they’ll have you wear a black T-​Shirt over your clothes to prevent glare in pictures.

Both my husband and I had never ridden in a helicopter before so we were super nervous. Within the first 5 minutes our pilot, Miguel, had us at ease and we were able to release the death grip my husband and I had on each other. The views, the history lessons… Everything was perfect. I highly… HIGHLY recommend using Blue Hawaiian.

This was a truly amazing way to see the island of Kauai. We had Scott as pilot and he did a great job of giving us the tour of the island from the sky. This is one more expensive helicopter tours but it is worth every penny. Kauai is really difficult to see in most parts of the island from the ground so you have to see it by air. Book online prior to coming to the island and save some money on the tour. Also make sure you pay the $ 40 to get the blue ray/​thumb drive copy of your flight. Couldn’t be happier that we were able to do this on Kauai. When we return to Hawaiian islands. I’ll make sure I book Blue Hawaiian to see the other islands from the sky. Truly excellent!!!

This is one year late but better late than never! Took a 55 minute tour back in April 2015 and wow it was awesome! Incredible scenery from above that you simply can not see otherwise. Office staff and pilot Jeoffe or Joffre (sorry not sure of the spelling!) were friendly and awesome. Felt very secure with our pilot as he was a veteran (thank you for your service!), a definite plus for those like me that are not super crazy about flying (first helicopter ride for me). Thanks again guys, I will definitely recommend your company to my friends and family!

Just got back from Kauai and had booked the helicopter tour and had an absolutely amazing time. The Captain was Scott and he led an amazing tour full of history of the Island. The views were spectacular. If in Kauai this tour is a must. We had a little issue when checking in, but the staff corrected the problem and gave us the flash drive of our tour for the inconvenience which was very gracious. Thank you Blue Hawaiian.

My family LOVES Blue Hawaiian! Their main hub is so clean. Service is impeccable. When you enter, you check in and get weighed… don’t worry they won’t reveal this to your entire party but it is required to balance that metal bird. All parties are escorted to the area for a safety briefing. They provide black shirts to avoid reflections but I suggest wearing black clothing with sleeves. No sweaters or it will make you hot and a bit dizzy. Oh and turn off you flash!!! Our pilot is Brodi. He was knowledgeable, smooth and inclusive. We have an 8 year old with us who thoroughly enjoyed his experience. We were taken to places that have not been visited by even the locals! Nothing compares to this experience. I loved learning about the history of Kauai even the movies shot in the island such as Jurrasic Park and Indiana Jones. This is the company to use… updated gear… excellent tour of breathtaking places and quality service!

Great trip! We had Pilot Scott. He was awesome! Super informative and fun! He did a great job flying and made us all feel so safe and ready to explore! The Na Pali coast was incredible from the sky! Would recommend this to anyone visiting Kauai!

The Kauai helicopter tour was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done! Blue Hawaiian was very professional and friendly. Our pilot was very interactive and gave interesting facts throughout the whole tour. He encouraged any questions or comments. I will recommend Blue Hawaiian to any friends or families looking for an exceptional helicopter tour of Kauai.

This is an expensive activity… that’s worth every penny! Professional, pleasant staff that make the before and after trip time very nice as well. Request pilot Shea. Dude knows everything.

Although this activity isn’t cheap, Blue Hawaiian’s prices are competitive, and the experience was completely worth it to me — it even exceeded my expectations. Everything was seamless and well-​organized, from the check-​in process to the safety presentation to the procedures for getting on the helicopter. Our pilot, Greg, was very warm and friendly and clearly experienced (nearly 8,000 hours in the air!). Though his voice was calm, he showed great enthusiasm for the beautiful island of Kauai. It was a nice touch that he referred to each of us by name, got to know us a bit, and made sure to include each of us at some point during the tour (for example, «Tiffany, below you can see your hotel as we fly over Princeville»).
Although the service was top notch, what really blew me away was the scenery. The angularity of the mountains, the colors of Waimea canyon, the numerous waterfalls… I just couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. It also struck me how undeveloped Kauai is, so I felt so fortunate to see these gorgeous places that you can’t easily access any other way. Greg also played some music during the tour, and I have to say that seeing 400-​foot waterfalls while listening to «Only Time» by Enya made for a pretty dramatic experience!
There were cameras inside and outside the helicopter recording the whole tour (including Greg’s narration and the questions asked by the guests), and when we saw the preview of the video, the quality was really fantastic. I decided I was too cheap to purchase it, and I had taken a lot of photo and video myself (on my admittedly less fancy camera), but I do feel like it would be a great memento.
Last note — I get carsick and seasick so I was pretty nervous about the helicopter ride. They do make helpful suggestions, like taking off jackets, since staying cool helps avoid nausea. I had taken some antinausea medications before the tour and I ended up being just fine :)
I actually would love to do this again next time I’m in Kauai! The memories, pictures, and video don’t compare to the experience and how incredible it feels in that moment!

By far one of the best adventures you can take in Kauai! You’ll get to see things that 99.99% of the population will never get to including the remote and stunningly gorgeous Napoli Coast. The staff puts you at ease and is totally competent in their safety and tours. Miguel was a true gem!!!

Wow. What an experience. Our pilot, Brody, was great. He did a fantastic job circling the helicopter so everyone got a good vie of the major landmarks on the tour. He also did a great job listening to our questions when asked. As a nice touch he also called all of us by name. The ride was a bit behind schedule but when we were loaded things went smoothly. No need to take aisickness medicine as our ride was so smooth.
I would wholeheartedly recomend Blue Hawaiian for a helicopter tour of Kauai. It is an easy going experience not to be missed.

This circle island tour is amazing and spectacular! Our pilot, Barrett, is a local boy from Kaua’i and knows the island like the back of his hand. The new helicopters are terrific and give great views. Kama’aina rates are available which made the pain of the high prices (but well worth it!) more affordable. I’d go again in a heartbeat! You’ll love it if you get good weather like we did. We were able to fly right into the caldera of Wai’aleale, a once in a lifetime experience. Na Pali coast was of course equally spectacular. I understand there is a boat trip at Na Pali as well which I am sure is also terrific! I must remember it for next time on Kaua’i!
And yes the souvenir USB stick with a recording of your tour is a very nice souvenir. The video is quite good but of course nothing beats seeing first hand!

We took a 45 minute helicopter tour while on the island of Kauai and I can honestly say it was the highlight of our entire trip. Sure, it’s pricey, but let me say, it’s worth every single penny and some. It’s an absolute must do if you are on Kauai, you get to see so much of the island, including the waterfalls used in the helicopter scene in Jurassic Park and the beautiful coastlines. I’m glad to say descending down by the waterfalls is a lot smoother than depicted in the movie!
If you only read this far — then my job is done here. For those who want a little more, here it is…
First off, the helicopters are very modern and kept in first class shape. Even as an aviation enthusiast, and someone who flies a lot, I will not deny I was nervous to take my first helicopter flight. Well let me tell you, the nerves disappear the second you are off the ground and are replaced with «wow». These craft are so smooth and vibration free you just become mesmerized with the gorgeous scenery passing below. Of course, much of this comes down to the great pilots, and our pilot, Miguel, made our flight very smooth and very enjoyable, taking us very close to various landmarks and talking us through all of it. He talked to everyone by name, and was very good at answering questions and accommodating requests to get closer to something or visit a certain landmark.
Flying up and over the hills through the clouds is really cool because one second it’s clear, then there is rain on the windshield, and in 10 seconds more back out into clear skies. It’s a cool experience.
When we were done, both my wife and I said, I think there will be more helicopter flights in our future. If you have any hesitation, don’t, just do it. You won’t regret it.

I’ve traveled with other helicopter agencies and while they all travel the same familiar route the don’t all offer the same service nor use the same equipment. Blue Hawaiian, however, is top drawer!
Their helicopters are really good. Not long ago I road with another agency whose machine had seen better days… I wondered if we were going to make it over the top of the mountain… we did but it was close!
On this occasion, I sent my mother-​in-​law with my youngest son… the results? She couldn’t stop taking about the flight and about Blue Hawaiian. In fact I heard about it all day!
The bottom line is this: If you’re going to drop serious dollars on a flight go with the best: Blue Hawaiian!

Can’t come to Kauai and not take a helicopter tour.
We chose Blue Hawaiian because they had the best helicopters. They’re located at the airport helipads with all the other ones. Check-​in was easy. They weigh you at the counter with a scale discreetly hidden under a rug. We were a lighter couple so we got to sit up-​front with the pilot.
The seating is 4 in the back row, and two passenger seats in the front next to the pilot. Definitely an advantage sitting up front.
The flight time seemed like the 50 minutes promised. The routes were standard and Marty, our pilot, was very nice and knowledgeable.
My only negative was that I saw other helicopters flying closer to the mountains/​cliffs/​falls. But I guess something can be said for being a little further back and seeing more.
I’d give it 4.5 stars if Unilocal allowed it. Bottom line is that it was definitely worth the money.

Mind-​boggling stuff. The pictures are not lying to you. You see every nook and cranny of the island of Kauai.
I think I’m actually a good person to listen to on here for this particular place because I really, really did NOT want to go on a helicopter. I was petrified. Not of heights, oddly — just of things going wrong.
And I did fine. There’s a low rumble before take off that gets your seat a little wiggly, but once you’re airborne, it’s pretty smooth. The sun heats up the cockpit by the mid-​point of the journey, though there are a few air vents that try to keep things from becoming too ungodly. I did get pretty sweaty, though.
While holding the handle bar for dear life, I saw things I could have never seen any other way. These are the fanciest helicopters on the island, and if you’re skinny like me, you can usually get the better seats (yeah, seems unfair, but they have to weight-​balance).
Do it. It’s pricey, but you’ll be glad you did. And they film it and record your audio into handheld mics so you can buy the .AVI file later on a flash drive and laugh at yourself while gazing at the scenery later.
