Pretty awesome for an airport bar & grill. With the time necessary to get through TSA always uncertain most travelers find themselves in need of a reasonable choice for an airport meal. Much to our delight we found Mea Inu more than reasonable. My son and I decided to play it safe and had the burger — which was surprisingly good. We ordered it rare and it came out medium rare as expected. My daughter’s short ribs were quite good as well and my wife was very happy with her potato soup and Kalua pork sliders. Her Mai Tai was tasty and my Kona Fire Rock Ale was on tap and on point. The only downside is that you are paying airport prices — the burger was $ 18. My only real advice is that when you enter it looks like there is just the bar with a few cramped tables squeezed in front. Keep walking and a whole bunch of nicer tables with views open out behind and to the left.

First of all I always like to factor in that airport food is(airport food) but this place needs a lil help. I am a sucker for spicy chicken wings so that is what I ordered. They were anything but spicy and were half of each wing were fat. In other words I couldn’t even finish them. The waitress was ok but not friendly and we had to ask for waters and our check. To be fair it was the only time I’ve eaten there and will probably try it again sometime to see if I could have a better experience.

I had a quick dinner here Jan. 3 with a friend and her 11 year old before departing on a flight back to Honolulu and then the mainland. My friend’s 11 year old is a sports fan so we sat at the table near the TV so he could watch a football game for a while during our meal. When the waitress came to order, the boy was having a little trouble deciding what he wanted, and the waitress rudely declared, «Hurry up! I’m trying to watch the game too.» This complete idiot should be fired for treating a child like that and for thinking she’s going to watch a football game and do her job at the same time.

For Airport food you cant get better local food. The drinks were tasty and hit the spot to say goodbye to Hawaii before heading home. Friendly attentive staff(seemed older than expected but they did fine)

Kauai was great but unfortunately I had the worst experience at this bar prior to leaving. My fiancé and I sat down and ordered a bottle of vino to enjoy before our red eye flight back to CA. We pulled out a few dice to play Yahtzee and were told because of Hawaiian law we were unable to play any type of game in the bar. We were SHOCKED as we had played dice at several Kauai bars over the course of our trip. After going back and fourth for over 45 minutes with the supervisor, and having her pull out the«law» which stated that the bar was unable to provide music, gaming, or gaming systems, and said nothing about allowing individuals to bring in a few dice as they wait two hours for their flight. We offered to pay for the glass we drank, yet the supervisor, Donna Hernandez, charged us for the whole bottle. We ended up paying $ 33 for a bottle of wine that we had one glass from, wasted an hour of our time, and management wasted an hour of their time. The supervisor clearly had no ability or control to make any decisions. Don’t eat here or waste your time. eat/drink before you get to the airport.

So the food was about what you’d expect for an airport bar & grill. The service was really sub par, they double billed me(two slightly different amounts) and I called them on it immediately(I get texts for all my cards & charges). I check with the server, and I’m guessing they were just too lazy to check and do their job, says they didn’t. Looking at the charges on my card, sure enough they billed me twice and now I get to deal with the hassle of clearing this up.

So they must have made improvements or we just caught them at a great time, because our experience was very positive. I discovered this place in LIH as we were waiting for our plane to end our trip — we were pretty hungry and had gotten through security in a breeze due to PreCheck, so we had some time to kill. We came around 8:15, ~45 minutes before our plane was boarding, and had a seat. Our waitress was very attentive and courteous of our departure time coming up. She let us have a few minutes to glance at the menu and brought us water — we just shared a regular burger and fries. When it came out it was cut in half on two separate plates, each with their own fries — absolutely LOVE when places do this, and at no extra charge to boot! Very attentive throughout, our waitress kept the water full and brought the bill promptly when we were finished with our food. We were out in just enough time to use the facilities and make our way back to the terminal. The burger was decent — a little overpriced but not out of line with anything else in Kauai. It was supposedly Kauai beef, so it may have had a play at my liking to it, but I thought it was pretty good. The fries were hot and fresh and tasted fine. All in all it satisfied us and made us happy for our flight back to the mainland.

Wonderful service! Our waitress was so nice and very efficient, for how busy it was I was very impressed with the way only 2 waitresses handled it. The food was delicious! I’d been waiting my whole vacation in Kauai for a burger and the wait was totally worth it! One of the best burgers I’ve ever had, and the fries were delicious. Definitely recommend!

Great place to go before a flight. They have wonderful drinks and great service! Just remember, it’s not 5 star dining! This is a small airport, small island, and the only small bar. It is a very convenient last minute place to go before a flight!

Lava flows are good. The Kalua Pork Sandwich had no flavor. The waitress did not bring water when we were seated. I asked for water when I placed food order and she never brought it. I don’t know if they are just short staffed or lazy. I’d say just get drinks here, skip the food. The waitress also wouldn’t give me a receipt? I paid cash and she said she couldn’t print it out

The best airport burger fries, coleslaw and service I’ve ever experienced. The Kauai Kobe burger medium rare was perfect with avocado and crispy onions on top and don’t forget the bacon! You’ll be lucky if you get Kristen as your server. Lucky Lihue travelers.

I rarely give two stars but this place was ridiculous. If I knew then what I know now, I would of went to the other restaurant next door. I know Kauai is very slow paced but this was just lazy. We were seated right next to the POS and the food window and directly across the bar. We ordered waters and we watched her stare at the three drinks at the bar — two waters and one mixed drink. She looked at us, then the drinks and then walked over and grabbed ONE of the three drinks and at a snails pace, dragged her feet to drop off the one drink to another table and then dragged her feet back to the bar to give us our drinks. After we ordered — nachos and chicken wings, Cam noticed that our nachos were at the window and the worker just continued to stare at it. Then continue to talk to the bartender, then continue to stare at the nachos. If Logan wasn’t strapped to me I would of gotten up and grabbed the darn nachos myself. When the wings finally came out, she shuffled her way to the window and dropped off our food. The chicken wings looked amazing and then you get the«nachos» which is like a slap in the face to all other nachos. It was some blue corn tortilla chips and some now stale won-ton chips and two dipping sauces. It was the skimpiest amount of chips and dip I have ever seen. Then the waitress gives us one napkin. ONE. lol. When we finally got our check, it was time to board. We seriously got there almost an hour and a half earlier than our check in and that’s how long it took us to get chips and dip and 6 wings.(Please keep in mind that I have TSA-precheck and I get to skip those lines. So we did not wait at TSA.) They also don’t have control of the sports that play on the tv screen. So while there are a ton of great games going on, this bar is playing soccer. Never again.

They just don’t care. If you have limited time to catch your flight do not make the error of coming here. It will be an hour minimum to get served. Then it could take another half hour just to get your check. They have a mini monopoly as there are no other sit down and get served choices in these terminals. Should have ate before we came to the airport. Really bad service and scorching hot in here. Ahh the final experience of Kauai putting a damper on an amazing trip. I will know better next time.

Horribly over priced. Stale chips and had to ask for extra few just to eat the ¼ cup of dip. All this for $ 10.99.

Went here near closing time. The kitchen had just shut down and the bartender was preoccupied with clean up tasks and talking to another patron at the bar that she apparently knew. So I guess it is hard to accurately evaluate this place with this one end of day visit. They did have Kona Lavaman Red Ale on tap which I had not seen any place else on the island, so at least I got to try something new.

Horribly disorganized bar restaurant. I’m guessing they are under staffed but it took forever to get our table cleaned and to place an order. It just seemed like chaos which is not what you want when you’re trying to eat a meal and catch a flight. I should say the staff is nice but the food quality is mediocre to gross. The fries are good so that’s a plus and earns the two stars — that and the nice servers. My suggestion: Get food before coming to the airport.

Come here for the great view of the airfield and drinks. Had the shock top and Kauai Onion Jam Cheddar Burger with fries. The fries were good but the burger reminded me of a high school lunch burger, ewww. They have many power plugs, some beer on tap, full bar, plenty of TVs with sports on, some wine and island favorite plates. They also serve breakfast until 10am. Our sever was busy but worked hard to get us in and out. In a nutshell, come here for the view and drinks. Do not get the food or at least the burger. I would recommend brining food from outside the airport, since this airport is a little guy with only 3 options(one being a Starbucks).
