I’ve been to Barry’s twice. Once before the remodel and after. Before the remodel doesn’t quite count, but it was a bit of a downer the first time. Hardly any beer on tap and totally lacking patrons. The second time around was bad. I went with a group of 6 during St. Patty’s day weekend. It was probably 11pm when we rolled in hoping to get a pitcher to share. We sat at the booth for 10 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge us. The place was pretty packed but there seemed to be nobody serving. I caught a glimpse of one server during that time. I managed to make a trip to the bathroom, hoping that someone would stop by. No luck. The bathroom was nice though. Service was pitiful. I’m sure the drink choices are pretty average. All I could see was bud light posters EVERYWHERE. They managed to dig out a Guinness cardboard cutout but I doubt they have anything more exotic than that in their coolers. The impression I got is that it’s a sports bar willing to serve beer from whatever is shown on commercial break. There are other sports bars in the Haymarket that would probably serve you better. I didn’t try the food or go up on the new roof deck. I was hoping to be surprised by Barry’s. I was really hoping it would be a place to come to on a trip downtown. After this, I’ll probably continue to ignore it in favor of other bars in the Haymarket.

Barry’s is alright. It’s your average sports bar & grill. Expect mediocre service and filling, greasy food. If you like watching a variety of sporting events simultaneously, this place is for you.
