This place is awesome! The food is fantastic, and I love the«butcher shop» atmosphere. The burgers are the best in town, and the sandwiches are, too. I just found this place a month ago or so. Sadly I heard yesterday that retail restaurant will close forever at the end of October. I ate there today, and I will probably eat there again tomorrow and Saturday. The good news is the catering side will remain open. As good as their food is, I’m sure that they would be a a fantastic choice for a caterer. Goodbye Greta’s. I’m so sad I hardly knew you, but I’m glad I got the chance to eat there a few times before you were gone.

This place was great. I loved the atmosphere. I had the salmon salad sandwich and it was delicious! I don’t live in Lincoln anymore but when I’m here, I’ll be back and I’ll tell my Lincoln friends to check it out!

Exceptional food. The quality is by far the best in Lincoln. Have had a few Burgers and never left not completely satisfied. Service was very great too with their speed and staff friendliness. Highly recommend

We were searching for lunch on a Sunday and found this little deli, which is really close to where we typically stay when we visit family in Lincoln. It’s not much to look at when you come in, there is a menu board, open kitchen, and lots of refrigerated cases of their products for sale(sausages, cheeses, drinks, dry seasoning for sale, etc). The menu isn’t complicated. It’s a mixture of sandwiches and burgers, with different side salads(pasta, green, caprese, potato for example) to accompany it. There were also four different soups to choose from for the day– we had the choice of black bean, chipotle corn chowder, seafood chowder, and baked potato. The daily special is posted everyday on their facebook-today was a turkey bacon avo wrap. The ten of us(yes, ten!) tried a variety of things and found a few good ones. The brisket sandwich was good, so was the roast beef and all the various burger everyone tried. I personally had the pick 3(seafood chowder, ½ caprese sandwich, and a small green side salad). The seafood chowder was packed with real lobster bits and clam. It was really good in my opinion. It was not quick, but I found the wait time very reasonable for a party of ten with all different orders. ALSO, my boyfriend’s parents who typically will only eat Asian food actually liked what we ordered them! So that’s major brownie points for Greta’s. I’m sure we will be back!

I love Greta’s food — it is so fresh and delicious. I’ve gotten steaks, burgers, brats, sandwiches, and soups there. I’ve never been disappointed. I’ve only given 4 stars because the products are expensive(because of the high quality) and the seating is less than comfortable for lunch.

Popped into Lincoln to help a friend. Stopped by Greta’s we had three burgers, the Cheddar Jalapeño, Bleu Burger and the Gourmet Burger. All were fantastic– beans were awesome, we will be back! The staff was very friendly and the owner took time to all to us and see how he could help. First class!

I and my husband live in Phoenix, Arizona. We went to this place a couple years back with our daughter and her family,(one of my son-in-law’s favorite places to eat) who live in Lincoln, the food was great, capreze salad was to die for, and the balsamic reduction is glorious. BUT the absolute best part of this restaurant/deli is the service. I called two weeks ago on a Sat to see about purchasing a gift certificate for my son-in-law for his birthday. This is not something you can purchase online. So anyway, i called, a little concerned because of having to give my credit card information over the phone to a random employee to get it. The staff was polite and handled it very professionally. The best part of this review? The staff instead of throwing it into the mail, hand delivered it to my son-in-law on his ACTUAL birthday! it would of made it earlier by mail but it wouldnt of been the exact date. Thank you Greta’s for your honesty and integrity.

My boyfriend loved the Greta burger and thought the potato salad was great. I enjoyed the caprese sandwich and the beef stew. It’s a charming atmosphere with nice deli options to take home.

We lost our wedding caterer a month before the wedding. Greta’s took over and did an amazing job. Couldn’t have done it with out their amazing wait staff. They jumped in and helped with whatever came up. Special thanks to Ryan who was here all day. Everyone and I mean everyone loved the food. Thanks for everything!

We stumbled on this place through Unilocal and the fact we were on the Southside of Lincoln. I was amazed at the selection of items and meat there. My mom was excited she found potato sausage, so we ended up buying some and having it for dinner that night. It had good quality and taste to the sausage. We ate lunch there and had the sandwiches. A little pricey, but it’s a good place for Lincoln. The food took a little while to come out, but they made it from scratch so I appreciated that quality as well.

I fell in love with the roast beef and brie sandwich when we had it catered in to work. This is not your average roast beef. Greta’s is very rare, sliced thin and literally melts in your mouth. The thick slices of brie are a perfect compliment. So when my friend and I found ourselves here chasing her turkey sandwich craving, I didn’t venture like I probably should have. I stuck to the tried and true. I ordered the sandwich, which came with a pickle and a side. I ordered a cup of Chipotle sausage chowder as my side. My friend got the ½ sandwich, ½ soup deal with a turkey sandwich and potato soup. The sandwich meal basically comes with two small panini sandwiches, a pickle and a reasonable size cup of soup. My sandwich was good, same rare roast beef I was craving. I think there might have been a bit too much brie and the bread wasn’t quite as I remembered it. The sandwich didn’t make the same impact it did when I first had it. The beef is the best part. The soup was spicy. Too spicy for me. It was tasty enough that I choked it down but it’s not something I would get again. This should come with a warning! lol. After I polished off one sandwich and my soup, I quickly realized that maybe next time my friend and I could just split a sandwich meal and order a side a la carte. I paid a couple dollars more for my meal and got two sandwiches, soup(mine was a cup, her’s was a bigger bowl), but the sandwiches are hearty. One would have sufficed for lunchtime. My friend said her turkey sandwich was adequate, the potato soup bland. While my review doesn’t sound like much of a rave, I will be back to Greta’s. I crave that rare, thin, melt in your mouth roast beef. And I can’t wait to get my hands on one of the thick, beefy burgers our table neighbors were devouring. I enjoy the fact that the ingredients are high quality and local. The bread is from LeQuartier. There is also a nice selection of packaged steaks, jerky’s, sausages, brats, rubs and the like, that would be great to tuck into a Christmas food basket. As far as the environment, the décor was clean and fresh. Seating is limited. We took a late lunch and it wasn’t overcrowded. The service was great. Friendly. Prices are high($ 11 for my meal, no drink), which is expected of a place that serves high quality products. But for the price, portions were fantastic. This is a great place for a nice treat or to pick up some high quality meats for special occasions or gifts.

We really love the food. Lots of unique burgers and an amazing brisket sandwich. Very nice meat counter and hard to find meats like duck and lamb and a great variety of sausages. My complaint today was that I got home with the order and was short a side :-(It won’t stop me frm going back, but I will ck the sack closer. Sad my potato salad was missing. Another note… Amazing soup!

I was truly and thoroughly impressed with my first experience at Greta’s. I stopped in for lunch with two friends, and none of us had ever been there. As we stood looking at the menu, the owner came out and asked if we had any questions. We asked him for recommendations, and he gave us several thoughtful suggestions. I went with the Balsamic Bleu Burger and Friendship Baked Beans. They make everything from scratch, so our food took about 15 minutes(this is disclaimed on the menu). After it arrived we were each raving about our meal. The burger was hand-pattied and expertly seasoned to perfection. The balsamic reduction combined with the bleu cheese made for an excellent combo. I usually don’t order bleu cheese burgers because the cheese seems to always be too forward in the overall flavor. The balance of flavors in this case was just right. Legitimately a contender for the best burger I’ve ever had. The beans had chunks of rib meat and brisket with vine ripened tomatoes. All in a spicy bbq-style sauce. Oh man. Awesome. There’s a lot more that I will be back to try, including made-from-scratch soups and deli sandwiches with house-made meats. Give this place a shot at your first opportunity!

Here’s the thing… My only experience with this place was a bad one… However, from hearing everyone else talk about it, I think it’s definitely worth another try. My rating is based off of solely 1 item, the only item I’ve tried from there. My mother bought me a bunch of their Aged Pre-Seasoned NY Strips for $ 18/lb. It doesn’t say what kind of seasoning, but, it is a red/orange color. Well, this seasoning tastes absolutely horrible to me. I can’t figure out why anyone would like it… especially on such a quality piece of meat. You can tell the meat, itself is a great cut/quality. It just doesn’t make sense why they would season something so poorly. I have to say, I am going to go back and try something non-seasoned to give another try. And, I have a feeling it will be better. I know Dr. Mandigo does a great job at the university of NE so I can’t help but think this one item is just an ugly duckling in the entire bunch of quality items. So, at the end of the day, STAYAWAYFROMTHEPRE-SEASONEDMEATS(at least the ones that have a reddish/orange color.)

Came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Great food. Not a lot of sitting. I can imagine how busy this gets over the noon hour for lunch during the week… get there early if you want a seat!

Stopped in to take advantage of their Friday burger special. Had the ‘Spicy Asian’ burger — it was Delicious! It was(as its name implies) spicy, with a tasty sauce and a delicious bun from Le Quartier bakery. With chips and iced tea it came in at $ 6 — a bargain. Will definitely be back for lunch! I ended up looking at their smoked meat selection, and purchased some sausage snack sticks. Also picked up a package of sun-dried tomatoes. As I was doing this I started talking w/Kevin, the owner. He was very nice, helped me to a sample of ice cream that a friend of his makes in Kansas City — it was really good. Ended up buying some beautiful ’boutique’ chocolates made by the same guy. I’m very glad I stopped into Greta’s Gourmet — will be back soon!

I had Greta’s Gourmet prepare food for a small dinner party I had. The food they suggested was wonderful. The potato/yam mash with cheese was a real HIT. One person in our party required a different food item and Greta’s was happy to handle the request. When I asked my friend how her entrée was, she gave it a 12 on a 1 – 10 scale. Best salmon she had ever had. Great doing business with a local caterer who provides a great service. I’ll be back for more!

Cool place, open & airy with great natural lighting and lots of unique items in their cold cases. Had the daily burger special, blue cheese burger & chips. My friend has the cheddar jalapeño burger. Both very tasty and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back again to try out other menu items!
