I was in here the other night for dinner with a friend and it was pretty good. We we’re seated quickly and our server came over and told me that pretty much anything on the menu can be made with corn tortillas and be gluten free. I had the peach margarita and the chicken enchiladas with the poblano cream sauce. Both were pretty average but still solid. The portions were large and the chips and salsa was also gf and pretty good. Price was reasonable and the overall service and ambiance of the restaurant was a-ok. Nothing particularly memorable but again, some good solid Mexican food noms

What a pleasent surprise… Great food, wonderful ambience is spot-on too… But let me tell you about the food, as authentic as can be and the staff friendly as can be… The best Cubre Libre I’ve tested in Nebraska in 10 years!!! So when in Lincoln, it’s a must…

By far the best Mexican food in Lincoln. The crispy relleno is my fave and the chips with salsa AND bean dip are an added bonus. If you go on the day of your birthday, your meal is free. If I could eat here more than once a week without screwing up my diet, I would! If you could do a drink special on margaritas, you would top your nearby competition hands down.

Born and raised in El Paso, TX and of hispanic descent I am typically disappointed when trying Mexican food outside of my home region(El Paso has a population of about 850,000 people which 85% are hispanic. Trust me, for a Mexican restaurant to survive, it HAS to be good LOL). Not the case with Hacienda Real. In fact, it was not only the best Mexican food I have had outside of El Paso, but also one of the best hispanic cultural eateries I have ever visited… period! My wife and I were enthused to find a restaurant that served queso fundido, and the chorizo was mouthwatering. The standard chips & salsa is available but here they also serve a slightly spicy refrito dip which was great too. I asked if they had a spicier salsa for my chips and was not disappointed by the habnero sauce that was brought to the table. I had the Molcajete de Carne which was superb. All the meats in the dish were seasoned to perfection and not being a huge fan of nopales, I was a little cautious at fist when trying the bubbling center of this amazing dish. The nopales were delectable. My wife had the Camarones Speciales(butterflied shrimp stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon!) which I will order on the side of my molcajete on our next visit because they delicious. We both had margaritas, my wife a Coronarita, and I had whatever margarita… or 3… our server Francisco(who was genuinely hospitable) recommended as his favorite. It was«smack your mama» good. For dessert we had chimi-cheesecake, fried icecream, and sopapillas. All three were excellent, the chimi-cheesecakes were to die for(deep fried cheesecake, I mean come on!). My wife & I diet by eating healthy for 3 weeks and have a cheat day every 21 days. Typically, we like to change up the restaurants but this place was so awesome we can’t wait to go back on the 29th of this month. It’s on our calendar! If you are in Lincoln and you like AUTHENTIC Mexican food, you’ve got to give this place a shot. It serves great Jalisco-region based food, has attentive and friendly service, and margaritas that make you feel all warm inside. 5 of 5!

This place is really good, and consistent, the chips and salsa is about the only thing that is just ok, but the free bean dip mixed with the salsa is good. Carne Asada steak tacos are fantastic! Never over cooked.

Disappointed by the quality of the food. I had the Cancun salad: tilapia, mango, chips, etc. It was yucky!!! Delivered with 3 fillets of steaming tilapia on top of a bed of lettuce & veggies. The mango was frozen on the bottom of the greens. I couldn’t eat it. The combination of the sizzling hot fish on top of the cold greens, then biting into frozen mango: not a good taste. I sent my salad back, did not want anything else or to take it home. Hubby had a burrito was average, nothing special. Service was excellent, chips, salsa & bean dip that they brought when we sat down were great. They checked back several times to see if we wanted a refill. Beer was cold! They did not offer to take my salad off the bill or replace it with anything. We will not go back. It’s just a very large room broken up into tables. If you want a date night, don’t go here.

Ordered a fajita taco salad. Was disgusting. I couldn’t even find lettuce except for one piece of iceberg. The fajita chicken was gross and soupy and didn’t even taste like fajita grilled meat. Had a sauce all over the meat which made the whole thing a gross soggy mess. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

Amazing food, they are not open 24⁄7 though. That is a mistake on this website. Anything is great on their menu, and everything comes out fast and steaming hot! My dad always gets the verde pork burrito. I change up to anything they have. Decently priced also.

I’ve been three times now and think very highly of this nice addition to the southern lincoln area. Unique and authentic dishes go along with standard combo style gringo chow. Chips and salsa are great to start and they comp you a nice bean dip as well. Carnitas are good and the tacos supremos are awesome. I always order«chillies torreados» and if you like spicy things you should too. Haven’t had drinks here yet so can’t comment. My kids loved it and the service is pretty solid. Best Mexican restaurant I’ve tried since moving here.

Hacienda Real is your typical, local Mexican restaurant. The décor/seating seems dated but isn’t awful. The food is exactly what you’d expect — good but not great. I did have an Italian margarita that was tasty. The servers are polite and quick. There’s just nothing that sets this place apart.

I wasn’t too impressed with the food that I ordered, and neither was my date. The chips and salsa are a different story. They’re well above average. It was pretty expensive for mexican food. Their margaritas are ginormous and tasty, but you pay for them. I think my margarita was like $ 9. Go to La Paz instead.

Finally had the chance to give it a try. Very good. We liked the menu variety and that it offered some items other Mexican restaurants in town don’t. Kids liked it too.

Have been here now many times over the past few months since they opened. Have not had a single bad experience. I’m not here for the décor as others have not been thrilled by it, I don’t see a problem with it but then again I’m here for the food! Lol. The service and food has been excellent each and every time! I’m glad to see the consistency and will definitely continue to visit here as my favorite Mexican restaurant in town.

It just opened and looked busy. We stopped in to check it out. The place is new so likely working out some bugs(not literally). The food was good and fresh. The prices were alright too. We did not have any issues with our service and the server we had was friendly enough to explain the menu and what was good. Overall, a decent meal at a decent price.

Thursday night 6:15 Went here w/the wife for a meal since we were doing some shopping nearby. This place is located on the east end of Southpoint Mall in the old Carlos O’ Kelly’s building. I thought the service was good and friendly. They brought out chips and salsa/bean dip right away. I thought the salsa was a bit too mild and the bean dip was great. I ordered the Colorado burrito that comes w/rice and refried beans. Food came out in about 10 min. I’m a big fan of El Toro and Las Margaritas so I will compare the food to them. I give the edge to Hacienda. Oh, I thought the lighting was fine. :-)

Pretty good Mexican place. we all enjoyed our food we had this weekend. Lincoln seams to have very limited authentic Mexican food. Its mostly Chipotle and Qdoba or bad Mexican like amigos or carlos okelly’s, which is what this place once was. The enchiladas were really good, and so was the queso dip and the burrito grande. What we really liked was the salsa. Sooo good and fresh and spicier then most places salsa. In fact, they use a lot of good spices in everything so nothing is bland, and most everything has more heat then you might expect so keep that in mind. The décor is a little bland, but I guess that doesn’t matter to much.

Man, this is certainly a welcome addition to Lincoln’s Mexican restaurant scene. Often, it seems like you can hardly tell which Mexican restaurant you’re dining at, but Hacienda Real offer fresh, unique dishes with their own twist. I had the Tacos Supremas, and my husband had the Enchiladas de Mole. But, let’s start from the beginning. We were greeted with a salsa unlike any other in Lincoln — in flavor, consistency, and heat(it was a good bit spicier than other Mexican restaurants), as well as a bean dip, which was an awesome addition. I ordered a jalepeno margarita, and their margaritas are the best in Lincoln, hands down — no overly sweet mix used here. Both entrees were phenomenal. My tacos used corn tortillas dipped in a spicy tomato sauce, which was a great addition. The steak they were filled with was tender, juicy, and perfectly flavored — they were also equally as good reheated as a post-painting snack later. My husband cleaned his plate, but not before letting me try a bit of the enchiladas — the mole sauce was impeccable. As someone who doesn’t tend to get excited about enchiladas, saying that I’ll order these next time is a pretty ringing endorsement. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but how often do you go to a Mexican restaurant for the ambiance? The service was good, despite it being pretty busy. All in all, I’d suggest going out of your way to try Hacienda Real ASAP.

Try the house special items… They are a taste treat. The usual Mexican items are also good but this is place to expand your palate. Service is good, atmosphere is comfortable and the prices very reasonable for what you get. See the photo of the seafood in the mortar. It was great.

We have been waiting the past few months for Hacienda Real to open. Anxious to try the food. We finally had that chance tonight. They just opened this week. The complimentary chips, salsa and bean dip is excellent! My husband and I both had the fajita burrito. Tastes amazing! Our entire experience was perfect! Friendly staff and amazing food! What else can you ask for?
