Love this place ate there for 3 years straight 5 days a week for lunch. These people will treat you like family. I periodically go back when I am in town since I miss them after graduating.

Imperial Palace is in the UNL City Union, on the second floor. Their menu’s pretty big for such a place, and there’s enough variety for whatever kind of Chinese food you’re in the mood for. Their prices are pretty decent, typically in the $ 6 range for a lunch plate, and they give you a lot of food. The food may not be the best by any stretch of the imagination, but it ain’t too terrible either. The thing is that for the amount of food you get relative to what you pay, it works out very well. I always leave feeling full, sometimes even too full. Their sweet & sour chicken is one of my favs, and their combination lo mein’s pretty good too. They have side orders of egg rolls, crab rangoons, etc. for like $ 3 I think. They also have a few of those prepackaged sushi rolls, but I’ve yet to try them. They have both forks and chop sticks, and a few condiments like sweet & sour sauce and soy sauce. For drinks they have a fountain, plus bottled green tea. The food’s always out within just a few minutes, so you never have to wait long at all. Quick Tip: Order a to-go box of whatever you’re getting, even if you’re sitting down at one of the tables nearby. They almost always give you a little more food, in my experience. Something I recently learned is that they offer half orders of all the plates on their menu, for about half the price. But they don’t actually give you that much less food! So it’s supposed to be a good deal and still fill you, though I haven’t tried that yet. They accept N-Card of course, and cash, but no debit/credit cards or checks. And of course one of the best things about Imperial Palace is proximity. They’re just a 5-minute walk from my dorm, when I’m sick of the dining halls or whatever. Overall, in terms of quality, kinda generic, but the amount of food for the price makes up for it.
