My wife and I went for first time last week and everything was great. Huge food portions, reasonable prices and entertaining staff. We will be going back. Not sure why all the negative reviews but we had a great experience.

The atmosphere was fine and the food was OK. We ordered a Fantastic Roll which included salmon, yellowtail, cucumber and avocado, wrapped in white seaweed along with a tasty sauce. We also tried the Volcano Roll. This had crabmeat, avocado, scallops and mushrooms. We came late morning on a Saturday. The service was slow and the wait staff had no personality.

The food is fairly good. Service is abysmal, owners seem to think as they’re 1 of very few Lincoln sushi joints that they can act rude/treat customers poorly. I’ve had them«make mistakes» on almost every one of my 50+ meals in regards to price. Sneaking in that $ 20 pitcher of beer, instead of charging the appropriate $ 12(example) or charging tax on full price of the 50% off rolls, and the receipt is hand-written when they have a POS system which means they’re submitting two different receipts for biz purposes — pocketing your extra tax. The last straw for me was when I went in for Mothers Day. Most places have prix fix menus or «deals» for Mothers Day — Kobe had printed a new unmarked sushi menu, with prices that were higher than their normal prices/online, and when I asked about it they told me «if I didn’t like it, I could leave». They weren’t even maybe 50% capacity. I would think the business would be more important to them.

I live 500 yards away from Kobe and have been a customer since their first week of opening. Their food was fantastic and their staff made an effort to please even though communication was difficult. Over their few years here they haven’t made an effort to educate or use English speaking staff, usually only have 1 or 2 employees that you can actually understand. Their sushi is still great… but every other aspect is garbage. Today was my last visit ever. On their standard menu they have an offer of 3 rolls of sushi for one price. They list the different rolls you can choose from below it. I have ordered it many many many times since they put it on the menu, last week was my most recent visit. Today I went there a few hours ago and made my order to go and the woman(seemed to be manager) asked me which rolls I wanted. I asked for 3 Philadelphia rolls(on the list), and was told NO. She said I couldn’t have 3 of the same items on the list??? I told her I’ve always done that and it’s why I frequent them so much. I asked her why and she said NO. I asked her why it doesn’t say that on the menu and couldn’t understand her response. Absolutely ridiculous. Making up menu restrictions out of thin air that directly contradict your printed menu won’t be getting my $ anymore.

Food was right to taste, very delicious. The staff on the other hand needs training in customer service, did not feel welcomed and even after saying it was our first time did not guide us through the menu as an good restaurant would do especially with the prices of their menu, you would expect friendly, and good customer service. Again the food was fresh, great in taste, and good in time.

If I could give them less than 1 star for service I would. I sent my daughter and sons in for lunch today, my son does not eat meat so he ordered the Tofu Bento Box. The box came with shrimp and crab meat, my daughter explained that he could not eat this but they kept trying to tell her it was fine, NOPE! The waitress took the plate away and then said she would refund the plate and box up the other food, when the bill came they did not remove the meal even though she took it back and it was not eaten at all! Her response, sorry. So they left after $ 26 and went to another place for lunch. I called and spoke to Andy the manager and he said to come back and they would refund the meal. They drove back to Kobes and was told«oh well we are only going to refund $ 5, he ate some of his salad. I am sorry but this is really poor service, not once but twice were we taken advantage of. Sorry Kobes we wont be back and will let all our friends know what poor customer service your place of business stands for!

Wait was about 20 min before we had to stop and ask for a waiter. After we did it took another 30 min before our food came. Seats did not let you relax, proped up.

Chef was entertaining and the kids enjoyed the show. Food was bland, soup was just broth with a few mushrooms, salad dressing was nasty. Our soup bowl had dried food stuck on the bottom. For a much better experience I suggest the one in Natomas.

Not sure why this place has such marginal reviews. I have been here twice so far and have always had good service(drinks were refilled, wait staff checked to see if we needed anything, etc.,). I think the prices are reasonable for the quality of sushi you get. I’ve been to one other sushi place in this area and found the rolls to be really bland. I think they have interesting flavors and roll ideas here though I haven’t tried them all. They have a roll with banana :). I’ve tried 3 of their rolls and they’re all tasty! My boyfriend got one of the bento boxes and tried the sashimi on our 2nd visit and he enjoyed both as well. I think they also have great presentation for their food. I say give this place a shot and decide for yourself :). Yes the«sushi side» of the restaurant can be quiet but the atmosphere is nice and relaxing and we didn’t mind it at all. Have never tried the exciting side of the restaurant but would like to in the future :).

This is really two restaurants in one– sushi on one side and hibachi(like Benihana) on the other. Both sides are overpriced in my opinion. The hibachi is tasty and if you’ve ever been to one, it’s a pretty standard experience. The portions are large so consider sharing. The sushi side is really deserted and just ho-hum. Service is not great(server didn’t always understand us, was difficult to locate, didn’t know the menu well, food came out all at different odd times). The sushi is okay. Again, given that local sushi places are so imaginative, fun, tasty and cheaper– I’m not surprised this place is so quiet. It works in a pinch but we rarely go anymore. If you’re craving hibachi then this is the only local option and it will work.

I had a reservation for 6:45 for teppanaki and they didn’t get to us until 7:30. Then the waiter brought us a bottle of wine and left it on the table and didn’t even offer to open it. Overall the service was horrible throughout the whole dinner. The chef was awesome but you could tell he yes was overworked. It really stinks because it’s right down the street from our house but we will not be coming back.

Went at 2:30 pm no body else was in the restaurant. It took over 15 minutes to receive my order. When it came it was wrong. Then they were bitchy about making it right. After my order came it still wasnt right. No one came and checked on me in 20 minutes. There were 8 staff on hand. They were all to busy reading to come and check up on me. I was thinking about coming back here with my boyfriend because the hibachi choices in the Roseville area are slim. However after reading other reviews i wanted to chime in. I went in October 2014, i had gotten my wisdom teeth out less than two weeks before and was still feeling pretty crummy. We got seated in the hibachi section, when we ordered i was told i had to order hibachi because thats were we were sitting, the chef didn’t speak english very well and i tried to explain i couldn’t eat solid foods but he didn’t care. I blew it off and got veggies and rice because it seemed easy enough. When the check came i was still a little annoyed, but i got furious when i looked in the check book and saw that they fill out their own review cards saying everything was great. To me thats plain disrespect and bad service, i work retail and i have worked food and even if its bad feedback it should be used for improvement. The elk grove location is so much better than this one. So i guess it will be worth the drive to sac.

Went there with husband and 2yr daughter for dinner. We were seated immediately and our order was taken pretty fast. Most of the server was speaking Chinese and were not as good speaking English, which although was not really big issue for me, I could see it being a problem for others. We all ordered hibachi dinner and overall it was rather disappointing. My husband’s plate($ 32 seafood) was so salty because the chef gave him the last bit of vegetables and it end up having too much sauce on it, since mine was already super salty, I could imagine his being almost inedible. but he said it was okay so we didn’t make a big deal out of it. Even when you take account of the mediocre shrimps and the tiny bit of lobster on his plate, it was not a $ 32 dinner anyone will pay for. What finally made me decide to write this review is that $ 2.5 small bottle of sparkling water I ordered. I specifically told them I would like a small one, and even on the original bill they had me with a small one, but when we received the check the lady in the pink dress came and told me I actually was given the $ 5 large one, and she made a $ 2.5 adjustment to our bill. Ok.I never asked for a big one, and I never knew I received a big one, mind you our bill was $ 100 for three of us after the dinner and the appetizers so it’s not about the money. I don’t think I received a meal in equivalent of what I paid for, but the problem is that I was forced to pay for a mistake that I didn’t make. I can’t even believe that the lady actually had the nerve to come and explained this to my face. We will not be back.

Four stars because the food was delicious. Service was okay. I think if it was busier it wouldn’t have been that great. Huge language barrier. Felt bad just listening to other customers try and ask questions about the menu and the waitresses just couldn’t comprehend. They were nice though… Looked clean in there, prices were not bad for fish. The only other thing that was annoying were the flies that I had to swat away every five seconds. It’s hot out, so I understand. Just annoying while you try and enjoy dinner.

Typical Japanese steak house and Tepenyaki. They did different variations of the usual tricks. The food was fresh and prepared well. I couldn’t tell you about their sushi, I ordered one of their special sushi roles as an appetizer, but never saw it. The language barrier with the waitress was painful, and I’m extremely patient. I ordered a glass of wine with my original order and appetizer, I did get the wine, but literally never saw our waitress again, not even to check on us. I had to hail down a busser for another glass of wine, I inquired about our appetizer and asked for a glass of water.(Distant blank stare) Never got the appetizer, never got water, never got my second glass of wine. Sat at the table for at least 15 minutes after our plates were taken, no bill. I had to check out at the reception counter. Told her what happened, no apology… Good thing the food was good, won’t be back.

I really want to support local businesses, but this is one place I’ll probably never come back to. We came here for a birthday party, party of ten. The birthday girl has come here many times and this was her choice, and even she, was disappointed with her decision. They will not seat you unless everyone in you party is present. Although I had reservations, it was becoming quite crowded in the small entryway with eight of us standing around waiting for the last two in our party. They wouldn’t seat us until everyone was present. Once seated, a friendly server came over to get our drink order. A few minutes later he comes over and gets our food order. We all ordered the hibachi dinner except for two. One being a chicken teriyaki bento box and the other being Katsu Don(fried pork cutlet over rice with sauce). Our chef comes over with a cart full of ingredients. Don’t know his name, never introduced himself, the show was the least entertaining hibachi show, we’ve ever been to. We had a more entertaining experience in Mexico or at Benihana. Sure… he twirled the spatula, he flung pieces of broccoli into our mouths, he did pour some alcohol and made the grill go up in flame, that was the highlight, that was it, boring! Hibachi chefs are supposed to be entertaining and engaging. Few in our party tried conversing with him, but it was pretty much, a one person conversation. Now for the food: Teriyucky Sauce! That’s the only thing you taste! On the flipside: the chicken teriyaki in the bento box was dry and lacked teriyaki sauce, lol. It may be ok for people who aren’t familiar with Japanese cooking. It is not ok for a Teppanyaki place to have everything come out tasting like Teriyucky! Nothing left to the imagination. Our server who took our order, was never to be seen. We had bussers who came and refilled our drinks. And even then, we had to flag them down! $ 400 later, will I come back? Heck no! We paid a lot of freaking money for fried rice! Because that’s what most of the hibachi dinner consisted of! They fill you up on fried rice and chop a steak up to make it look as if each person is getting a whole steak. The concept is followed through with all their dinners. Chop up a breast of chicken, and just like magic, it’s feeding two people! The sauces(two) wee lackluster and did nothing to accentuate the taste of the bland steak, chicken, and seafood. We were charged eighteen percent for our party which came out to be almost sixty dollars for an invisible server and continually flagging down our bussers for refills. To me, that was not ok, since mostly every place we’ve dined at has eliminated this general rule. Overall, this is more than the price we pay at our favorite steakhouse. You’re getting a lot less food and no service! One steak equals two people. Overcooked veggies. Overpriced for underwhelming food and service. We came for a birthday and there was no acknowledgement of birthday, as the birthday girl had expected. This may be a great place to go as a couple or family, but with a large group, No! We must have picked the wrong day.

We have been here two different times and have had two different experiences. The Teppanyaki and show were great both times! The chefs were both fun and engaging and did plenty of fun tricks and interacted a lot with the crowd. The second time we came I ordered the Vegetable Teppanyaki which was great! It had good flavor and came with fried rice which was the best fried rice I have ever had! The vegetables are cooked on the same stovetop as the meat but I’m not that picky so it was ok. The first time we came I ordered the fried tofu which was horrible, I had to send it back. It was cut into huge squares and very lightly fried on the outside but raw in the middle. Yuck! The second time we came we had great service, everyone was nice and friendly and attentive. The first time we came, people were less attentive and seemed to avoid me when they could tell I disliked the tofu. I finally got ahold of the manager and he took it off the bill. I would definitely recommend both the Teppanyaki and the edamame. Both are great. The restaurant is split in two separate sections, one for sushi and one for Teppanyaki. I haven’t tried the sushi side of the restaurant so I cannot comment on that. You definitely pay a little more for the food because of the show, but it’s worth it for a special night out!
