A classic Lincoln steak house with some great Husker history. The steaks are some of the best in town, and we always get the lobster seafood bisque, which is delicious. My family loves coming here after home football games! Back in the day, before the NCAA prevented such things, Nebraska football players used to work as waiters on game days. As you can imagine, that was a big hit with local fans. The décor and Husker paraphernalia are best described as ‘old school Big 8.’ If you are in town for a football game, this restaurant, and this particular location, would be a great place to visit.

Come for the steak. Stay for the steak. This place is as old school as it comes, great ambiance, great service. Started off with a sampler platter, recommended are the prime rib bites, artichoke hearts, and the calamari strips; not recommended are the wings and the onion rings(clearly bought frozen). For lunch I have tried both the prime rib and the steak salad. Each was excellent and perfectly cooked to medium rare. Seems like a great place for dinner with the family and also it’s located in the Havlock neighborhood which deserves more explanation by me.

The food and service was great. We had the prime rib which was great, swordfish which was awesome if you like spicy food, and the lobster mac n cheese that was really good. The only minus was the place was really dark.

Slow Dark Over priced Over cooked …and most importantly Over HYPED I’ve eaten at a lot of steak houses and this one rates very close to the bottom. If you’re in town for only one night and looking for a nice place to eat I’d recommend avoiding Misty’s.

My brother and I were hungry for Prime Rib. We moved here to Nebraska from California 7 years ago, so we are still searching for good restaurants. We asked people everywhere, and Misty’s, Lazlo’s, and The Steak House were recommended. I checked the reviews of Misty’s, and as it was close to the VA(our last stop of the day), we decided to eat there. I ordered Prime Rib, and my brother ordered a sirloin sandwich. My sides were Caesar salad, and garlic mashed potatoes. I was very disappointed. The mashed potatoes were gummy and had lumps, and luke-warm, served in a small dish. I was pretty sure they were from a box, not fresh made. The dish looked like it had sat out for a while. The Caesar salad had an off taste, couldn’t figure out the dressing. My brother tasted it too, and agreed. Couldn’t eat much of it. But the big disappointment was the prime rib. It was served in a dish/bowl sitting in very salty broth/sauce? The sauce was so salty it drowned out the taste of the prime rib. I complained to the waitress, who took it back, and drained the juice out. But too late, the meat was still too salty, and not that tender. She should have given me a new slice. On it’s own the meat was just OK, definitely not worth the $ 30 I had to pay. A woman, I think the manager came around asking how everything was. When I started to complain, she backed off and wouldn’t listen. My brother’s sirloin sandwich was OK. As we left the hostess asked us what we thought, we told her, she at least listened. She was surprised, saying no one had ever complained before. Now that I believe… as based on experience reading Unilocal reviews, and then checking the restaurants out, my brother and I have come to the sad conclusion that Nebraskans don’t know good food — if its salty, bland, and large portions, they love it. We will take the advice of a person we asked — she said the best prime rib is the meat you buy at Leon’s gourmet grocery. Now I believe her, and will do that.

The atmosphere at Misty’s reminded me of a steakhouse from when I was a little kid, dark with padded leather seats. Fresh baked bread and foil wrapped butter came out first. I ordered Caesar salad, ribeye medium and baked potato. The salad was fresh and crisp the steak cooked to a warm pink center and the baked potato was moist and done throughout. I would go back again.

Terrible terrible service. Went with family for a birthday party. Our waitress was the slowest service I’ve ever received. She wrote everything down once, correctly, and then continued to «verify» over and over again at least seven times throughout our visit. From the time we sat down until we actually got to order our food it was an hour. By the time we got our food it was pushing an hour and a half. We had to flag her down for drinks and eventually ended up visiting the bar ourselves. We all had about four to six rounds before we asked about or food and how much longer it would be. We got a snotty«well, I don’t know but I could go check…» coincidentally she returned with our food. Once we got our food all of it was either luke warm or stark cold. Prime ribs, pastas, baked potatoes and sea food that you could stick your finger into they were so frigid. I found the manager and expressed my concern for the cold meals, mine having a price tag of $ 25ALONE(I had the Queen cut prime rib), and I got a completely emotionless and absolutely unremorseful/unconcerned response of «what do you want me to do about it,» followed by «well, you won’t get sick because they can be eaten up to 4 hours after the meals are cooked.» I think I’m actually going to be calling the health department… This man stated that prime rib and sea food would not make you sick if it was stark cold or luke warm. As if the experience couldn’t have gotten any worse, the waitress was now good and irritated that we had complained, being rude to the birthday guest we had brought from out of town for dinner. Then the manager visited our table to ask us if he could«warm our food up,» I expressed my concern for the fact that he used that statement while talking about my $ 25 meal that I had waited over two hours for. He told us the food had sat in the window too long and that the order was made in 21 min from start to finish which left us wondering why it took almost an hour for our food to get to us. He also stated that the food was ordered after the salads came out which was an hour after we had ordered. We also had to find someone to ask where they were at. He asked the whole table«how much we wanted to pay,» instead of attempting to offer new hot fresh meals… He offered to warm them up and then still wanted us to pay for them. Some were modest and said I’d take half price, starving they choked down their food. My husband and I did not. We said we would like to leave. The manager asked us if we wanted to pay for our drinks, and although it took at least thirty min for each one to reach us and the bartender had snapped at us while walking by when we asked for assistance, we agreed we would. FOURTYMINUTESLATER, I got up and walked around the restaurant until I found the manager… We still did not have our split checks. He, again showed no remorse. Responded with the plethora of excuses ranging from«two more minutes of waiting is going to make or break your night, and you’ve wanted to leave for the last 40 minutes?!» and asked us to CONTINUETOWAIT as they were still working on them… I asked when he was going to take responsibility for this atrocious night and comp the entire table so we could LEAVE, and he continued with excuses to stall for time. I explained that we wanted nothing more than to leave and that we had been MORE than patient, after a few more minutes of standing in the same spot and him watching the other employee((not our waitress)) working on the tickets STILL, he finally agreed to comp the entire ticket. I’ve been to misty’s many many times as I have Lincoln my whole life, but I will NEVER be back. The prices are so high that there’s no way I’d get as close as their sidewalk with that kind of service and management let alone the food. This experience took over two and a half hours, starting at 4pm! And when we left there was no I’m sorry or attempt to save things. I will be contacting the owner AND the health department regarding this experience. Heed my advice and don’t set foot in this establishment. Misty’s was once a staple of Lincoln Nebraska, but is time for this staff and management to retire and this place to close its doors before they kill someone. **I’d never give them even one star if it was an option**

Just left Misty’s. The worst meal of my life and unfortunately we were warned about the poor food as we were walking in the door and ignored the comments. Had King cut prime rib and baked potato. The meat was fatty all through it. My husband who feeds cattle said it looked like cow meat. Tried 2 small pieces, one of which I spit out. I really like baked potatoes but this one tasted like it was a leftover and on top of that it was cold. Waiter asked how our meal was and I was totally honest. His response was a quick I’m sorry. I know it wasn’t his fault. I’ve never written a food review before and have never complained about a meal before. I will never eat here again. The thing is I don’t think they care. The restaurant is downtown and packed after the game and they got their money. I wouldn’t even give it 1 star.

Horrible service and ok food. I waited 30 min for a beer after asking my waitress twice. It took an hour and a half for our table to get food, then my prime rib was over cooked(ordered medium and came out well done). Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

NOWTHISISWHAT A STEAKHOUSEISALLABOUT, great atmosphere great food great service! It’s true what they say the original can’t be beat! NO reason to go anywhere else this Mistys is the place to be for an amazing true Nebraska steakhouse experience. Great food selections amazing appetizers and atmosphere that just can’t be beat. Be sure to sit in a classic Booth, it adds to the experience. Avoid the satellite locations it’s worth the drive to go to the original Mistys. The artichoke appetizers, French onion soup, and outstanding prime rib can’t be beat. Don’t forget the side of creamy horseradish sauce! Be sure to time your Friday night dinners during home Husker games for a great pep band show!

We eat here most always when here for barrel race event at Lancaster Event Center, which is only 2 miles away. Always really good food items, all. Our group of 5 in this afternoon and had great service, in the bar area, as usual. The food was all excellent. Thanks folks. Well done. Anyone traveling in the area should stop here and try. We like it all.

LOVELOVELOVETHISPLACE! My hubby and I ate here and had a GREAT experience. Our server was fantastic! She was so fun and sweet and suggestive about items we may like based on our input on likes. Probably one of the best steaks I have had in a very long time.

We took a trip here for a graduation dinner. It was prefect for a family from WI and having been in Chicago a few years; this place was exactly what I was expecting for an established Nebraska steakhouse. It could use some updates, but that would take away from the charm. We reserved one of the private party rooms on the second floor overlooking the restaurant. The restaurant is located in an unassuming building with dim lighting and lots of old sports paraphernalia on the walls. It offers a cozy steakhouse feel. The restaurant was packed, which speaks volumes to their food. The staff were helping and accommodating. We had a party of 13 and, not going to lie, we are a handful. Props to our server for making everything go smoothly! They have a nice beer list, nothing out of the ordinary as well as enough wine choices to find something you like. There are meat and seafood options, but I highly recommend sticking to the meat options, for obvious reasons(land locked Nebraska turning out award winning livestock). The Prime rib is their specialty, and well worth the largest cut you can handle. Those that ordered the prime rib stated at parts it was a bit tough and not melt-in-your-mouth good. Also, maybe due to the high volume of guests, the prime rib seemed over cooked a step. For someone who ordered the prime rib medium, it came almost medium well. For those that ordered it rare, it came medium. I ordered the Filet Mignon and was not disappointed. I like it medium rare and that’s what I got. It was tender and melted in my mouth. It was an overwhelming majority that we enjoyed the Lobster Bisque soup to start things off. However, the French Onion did look amazing. Go for the meat, stay for a night cap, enjoy the dark cozy Midwestern atmosphere.

If you are in Lincoln and want a steak and some whiskey, put on a sport coat and go to the original Misty’s in Havelock. Bring a hot date and settle down in a romantic booth. Bring two hot dates if possible. No need to open your menu, because this is what you’re going to order: the Regal Cut Prime Rib, garlic mashed potatoes, and a side salad.

Kind of an institution in Lincoln. Particularly on Friday nights before Nebraska football home games.(The marching band and cheerleaders parade and play through the joint… It’s a hoot.) Misty’s has that old school 1970’s steakhouse feel. It’s not the best prime rib I’ve ever had, so I think it’s over-priced, but they have two appetizers that I loove. The escargots and prime rib bites. Snails are a wonderful butter-garlic-gooey-cheese delivery system(yum), and prime rib bites are absolutely delicious although sometimes too salty.

Pleasant surprise in Lincoln recommended to us by the locals at our hotel. The food is great(we had ribs, chicken, and a burger, portions big, and the service is a most excellent example of Nebraska hospitality. The sweet potato fries are awesome! This place is an obvious favorite of the locals as you will witness once you get there. It was also cool to see all the sports memorabilia from Nebraska and professional sports. This place also has an interesting wraparound bar where the bartender is in a pit. They have special seasonings that give many of their foods a unique flavor without being too salty. Oh, and we discovered a fun fact while checking out the football helmets: in the area of the sports memorabilia case, have one person stand on end and you at the other and you can whisper to each other and hear it clearly as if the person is standing next to you.

I’ve been to this Misty’s and the Misty’s downtown and I definitely prefer this one. Atmosphere: AWESOME. I love the amazing 70s-tastic décor. It fits well with the Havelock neighborhood and reminds me of a bigger version of a small town steakhouse. The bar area is super rad. There is a very big, wrap around bar with lots of seating. If there isn’t a table open in the restaurant go ahead and take a seat in the bar. It’s pretty cool. Please don’t ever change your décor, Misty’s! I love it. Food: It’s good, but really expensive for what you get. A burger and fries is going to cost you 2 or 3 dollars more than other places in town serving up similar fare(Lazlo’s, Fireworks, Tam O’Shanter). I have to say, because of this I don’t frequent this place much for food. I’ve never had a bad meal here, but I’ve never had a great one especially for the price. They have decent burgers and chicken that are coated in their signature seasoning(which I do really like) and pretty standard sides. Service: Also just good but nothing great. A lot of times it’s a long wait for food, and the staff isn’t very attentive. The in house Brew: Has gotten much better! The first time I went to Misty’s their microbrew was horrible. Modern Monks has taken over the brewing and it’s so much better. I don’t like it as much as Empyrean in town, but it’s still tasty stuff. Definitely give it a try next time you’re dining or pop into the bar for a pint.

Wow! I’m first? I don’t believe it. My husband’s family has gone to Misty’s Havelock for many years. We come anytime we’re in from Phoenix for the amazing Prime Rib. You can cut it with a butter knife it is sooooooooooo smooth. I also love that they have creamy horseradish sauce for me! I start with either the French Onion Soup or the Seafood Bisque. Very good. The service has never been less than impeccable… but leave plenty of time. This is no In and Out place. This is real food worth waiting for. The interior is dark and old-school…but if you want good beef in Lincoln(or Phoenix!) try Misty’s Havelock. You’ll be glad you did.

First night in Lincoln and we found the original Misty’s in the historical downtown area just off Cornhusker Hwy, it’s been there since 1964! We started with Blackened Prime Rib, this is first time for me having this much meat as appetizer, it was blacken with salt and pepper on the outside, nice and pink inside, cut into small cubes, that could have been my dinner if I didn’t have to share it with two other hungry guys. My rib eye came with a potato and I ordered mushroom on it, 11 ounces of medium rare meat, a slab of juicy heaven, and all the fixing on the spud, not need to say more. I cleaned my plate and wished I had room for some desert, but I was too stuffed. it was a great start on the week.
