This was the most fun spot on our«Back Friday Maine Beer Trail run». We saw on Facebook that Steve the owner would be having tastings for a few hours and so got there just in time. Basically, you are tasting beer in a garage of sorts(3 oz. for a $ 1 each). We tried the Pemaquid(Scottish Ale), Quoddy(I think this is their ESB), and Tumbledown Dick(double IPA). All very tasty and since we were the only ones there Steve told us a lot about how they’re made(hops, yeast and how those are the same and different from other Maine breweries). He obviously has been doing this a long time and knows his stuff. Definitely worth the drive — GPS will get you there no problem.

Sheepscot Valley’s Pemaquid Ale is the best Maine beer I’ve tasted, and I’ve tasted just about all of them more than once. His other brews are very good, too, but the Pemaquid is an all-purpose, go-with-anything ale available in a number of restaurants on tap and by the growler in better groceries in Lincoln County and beyond.

Though tough to find, this tiny brewery puts out some seriously delicious brews that can be found throughout the region in restaurants and even in growlers in some markets. The setup is small and cluttered, and a «tour» is kind of a loose term at the moment, but the beer and conversation is worth the effort. Also, if you’re interested in filling in the Maine Beer Trail, ignore the previous reviewer’s instructions to skip the place. Besides, it can be tough to track down just the right variety out among the stores & pubs. Favorite brew — Double Brown

I’m not sure what these other people are reviewing — but I went here in July 2013 and although this brewery is in business and we met the brewer — this is not a place you visit. Don’t come here. It’s a one man band in his barn and he isn’t open for visitors — he is busy brewing the beer you want to drink! So, go back to the place where you tried Sheepscot, and just get another one there…

My uncle was kind enough to bring me back a ½ gallon of ale — and I live in Miami. It tastes exactly like what I think of when I think of Maine — clean and smooth, with nice hints of maple syrup and blueberry. Which just leaves me with one Q — when’s the first lobster ale coming?

This is a phenomenal, tiny, home-brewed organization. If you live within 2 hours of this location, it is worth the trip to grab a keg or a couple of growlers. Return em for a refill. When the road becomes unpaved, don’t fret. It’s not too much further. Seriously delicious.
