This is a wonderful family-​owned bakery and a staple of the neighborhood makes super yummy apple turnovers/​strudel and the greatest bear claws in the universe… Mmm bear claws…

Ran into it because I was nearby. Great family run place. Nice fresh breads. Moist and yummy cream cheese pound cake. Glad I found it. Coffee Only so so.

I have been patronizing this bakery for OVER 50 years. Over the years, the size of the products may have decreased due to rising costs, but they have NEVER sacrificed quality. Here are just a few of my recommended favorites:
Apple turnovers
Chocolate covered marble bundt cake

Butter cake
Raspberry crumb squares
Chocolate cigars
Cupcakes
All buns and donuts
Their buttercream is light and fluffy, and their whipped cream cakes are beyond compare. I have NEVER been disappointed with any of their products.

I remember This bakery as Modern Bakery, and I ask you, How the hell can you run a bakery and basically not have it change for as long as I can remember (40 years+). I mean nothing… the recipes, the counter, the screen door, the cash register. It’s nice when memories can stay the same as realities. Thanks guy and and gals. Best crumb bun, jelly bun, custard bun, crap I dig this place.

Excellent bakery with many great options. The food is always fresh and the people behind the counter are great to deal with.
Between here and Patsy’s you don’t really need another bakery. =)

The best bavarian cream fruit tarts! We needed a desert for a dinner party one night and just happen to pick the fruit tart. Normally at dinner parties the desert never gets eaten, well not when we bring this lovely jewel! People now request the fruit tart if we are coming for dinner. We make sure to order the day before to insure we get one, because I found out the hard way… they are very popular and not always available. Its our fav! We love Modern Bakery nothing else compares the owner and staff are the best. Highly recommended

The absolute BEST whipped cream cakes and pies, especially the banana cream and chocolate cream pies! So fresh and light.

This is a great family run bakery. Every now and then we see THE Mrs. Cieslacks (shes probably a Greatgrandma now) with her apron and big smile behind the counter, and her daughter filling the racks with right out of the oven goodies.
Everything is fresh. The girls at the counter are very sweet. (lol)
We always stop for their little cherry pies, a bite or two bigger than a single serving, but who cares because it’s so delicious.

This is a staple to Lindenhurst and long island. They have been here for over 76 years and nothing has changed at all inside and with their recipes. Although you may overlook this from the outside, the baked goods inside are the same as they would have been the day they opened. No preservatives and still a family business (kooky and funny). If you want a classic bear claw, apple turnover, this is the place to go. It’s especially delightful because it’s all pure ingredients which you can taste when you realize how light the product is. Plus it’s not overly sweet. Everything you find nowadays (especially supermarkets) are like pure sugar. This place is the best, when I go back to NY to visit, I always stock up on cookies. Can’t rave about it enough.
