Norbert Pools & Spas

This place is going out of business so my review here is practically useless. Really quick, here are the deciding factors which prevented my mom and I from purchasing a hot tub from Norbert: most obviously is the fact that they are going out of business. Judging by other Unilocal reviews it seems that Norbert does not follow through with customer service and so obviously this makes me uneasy about making a several thousand dollar purchase from a company with this type of record which is on top of that closing. Who do I contact if I receive the wrong item or if something breaks right away and etc. etc. Also, Norbert was unable to offer free delivery or any additional perks with the purchase of my tub. American Sale did. Our salesman was nice enough but the other employees/​manager (s) hardly acknowledged our presence. Not good. The cash price we heard on the tub was the exact same quote they gave the guy interested before us. They obviously didn’t want to make a deal. The store itself is bedraggled looking and disorganized; it has a somewhat grungy feel. I know it’s pointless to say much more seeing as they’re going, so there.

So far, so good! My parents bought their first pool from Norbert’s in 1988. At the time, my dad had decided he could install a pool by himself, which didn’t end well (collapse). Enter: Norbert’s. My parents decided to go all out, get all new everything: pool, liner, filter, skimmer, vacuum, etc. That pool lasted until this year.
So, last weekend, my mom and I were back at Norbert’s to buy a pool (I was 3-​years-​old the first time). We worked with Craig, who explained everything. They had one left of a model that is identical to the one we already have and he gave us a great package price since we were taking the only one left.
Complete package includes: pool (52“x24’), filter (we upgraded to diatomaceous earth), skimmer, vacuum, solar cover, cleaning tools, etc. Total price: HALF of what the pool should have cost (especially with all the add-​ons).
All in all, super happy with the friendly service and willingness to work with customers and keep them coming back. We will definitely use Norbert’s for all our chemical needs in the future and maybe we’ll be back for another pool in 25 – 30 years.
PS: Doughboy is the best pool brand EVER. Don’t go cheap and get something else, and certainly don’t buy from All Seasons (formerly F.I.M.); they an «all sales are final» company, even if you get the product home and it’s defective. They also upcharge like CRAZY and don’t even sell Doughboys.

It’s been a few years and I am still angry…

I wish there was an option to give negative stars because this place is the worst! They are rude, sell inferior products and are very unwilling to help their customers. We bought an expensive pool from them and a piece was cracked when they came to install it and wouldn’t replace it saying it wasn’t their fault. We ordered a pad for under the pool… they never gave us the right one we had to take a substandard one or nothing. The managers never helped us but yelled instead. They sell products that are not available anywhere else so you NEED to go back to them when things break, and trust me they will break. Every year we have had something break on our pool… the pump the filter etc… they are expensive and always give conflicting info. Also they make up prices… one person will say one price while another gives a diff one. BEWARE OF EVER buying anything here… its a nightmare!
