We’re from Brooklyn, New York and we wanted to try the nature feel of a café. So yes, the Art Café has this feeling to it. Cons: stuck up server, very poor selection of drinks, crappy pastries(I can do better), and the beautiful arts were nowhere to be found. The biggest downside: No Bathroom! I guess they’d just expect us to do our business on their lawn. Stay away from this place. It’s not worth your time.

This is such a cute spot to get coffee in Little Compton, however, the owner is so miserable and rude, that it doesn’t deserve any stars at all! ! Didn’t she even learn, Rule #1, the customer is always right. In the long run, you will pay for such bad service. I ordered a drink, that looked like a glass of milk and apologized and mentioned that it looked very light and perhaps I should have asked for skim milk and asked for another. Under her breath she made a comment and then argued with me that it was skim milk. she asked if I would like another shot and then proceeded to charge me another .75! You have to be kidding me, which I had already paid $ 4.50 for a small latte. Which by the way, they only post the cost for hot drinks, which are different prices than the cold ones. I told her, that the person in front of me had just ordered two of the same exact drinks and they did not look white like this. She continued to argue with me! I will never go back there and I will make sure I tell everyone I know how rude the owner is. Which when I left the store, someone came over to me and said, don’t worry she’s a coffee witch and miserable! Go to Wilma’s up the road, they are much nicer or the Daily Grind in Westport.

My first bad review in 6 years of Unilocaling :(I truly tried to make this my go to coffee spot. I’ve taken dozens of friends/family here(for the atmosphere, drinks are just okay) and every single time the women behind the counter are rude, unfriendly and annoyed at us, but it’s such a pretty spot to sit I can usually get over it. This last time: After waiting in line, then being reprimanded for not forming the line correctly, an employee shoved by me saying ‘I need to get by” while jamming her fingers into my shoulder blade, it was rather shocking. She probably didn’t mean to be so gruff, bad morning maybe, but I just left and won’t be going back. The drinks and even the pretty seating areas aren’t nearly good enough to be treated like a piece of garbage just for trying to support their business.

I love love love the Art Café. First of all, Little Compton and Tiverton are hand’s down my favorite part of Rhode Island. I still remember driving through that area for the first time and thinking about how much it reminded me of being up island on my beloved Martha’s Vineyard. The Art Café really is nestled on the side of the road and completely unassuming. They make a mean iced coffee and spending an afternoon walking through the gallery on site, and sipping an iced coffee outside really is a mini vacation.

Amy H. wrote a lovely review — I can only add that this is a perfect location to escape the summer heat, buy an iced coffee and cookie, and spend some time doing blissfully nothing.

Quite honestly, I hesitate posting this review of a place that is nestled in the peaceful pristine village of which I used to live. As a local, we worked pretty hard to keep Little Compton our, easier said than done, underground secret, so as not to attract city folks from Connecticut or Boston. But then, the Art Café had to go and open. :) A charming hideaway that is located on the Town Commons in a quaint tiny, antique shed. They serve a nice assortment of teas, coffees pastries and snacks, but the best thing about it is the local art they promote everywhere. Beginning on the lawn, near the fire-pit and extending all through the two floors of the building. All walls are covered with beautiful, unique and far out creations made by local artists. To the right of the shed is a refurbished corner of an old house that has been converted to an art studio, it’s pretty cool. One of the rooms has a boardroom backdrop to it with a big table and several chairs; they host local meetings and events here. Little Compton is the sister town of Cullompton, Devon England and by pure coincidence, another place I once lived. Maybe you could go there instead. I’m sorry, I can’t say anything more about LC. If you go, stay near the Commons and don’t go anywhere else, there’s nothing to see. You’re not wanted here. Alright, alright! If you must go, please make it a short visit, don’t litter, promise that you’ll support the Art Café, and by all means, do not tell anyone I sent you.

Great place to meet local people while standing around the tiny café or outside by the outdoor fireplace. They brew Coastal Roasters coffee. In summertime, the pecan raisin rolls are excellent.
