My kids loved the pizza. I had the Hawaii calzone without sauce and really enjoyed the flavor. You can bring your own adult beverage. The location is great as there is a play ground right across the street.

For where it is and what it is, a good four star pizza place. Where it is — in Little Compton and my bet is that its the only pizza place within 10 miles of our summer house. What it is — a hole-in-the-wall pizza joint with 6 or so booths making decent New England-style(baked in a shallow pan) pizza and grinders(sub sandwiches). I had the BBQ pizza, thick, doughy, slightly oily crust(rather than dry). Pretty good. I went back and had a chicken cutlet grinder the next day, also good. They had a display-case of some great looking deserts.

We’ve been here a few times and the pizza is great. The gentleman who owns the place is wonderful, and when he is there the customer service is fantastic! Unfortunately, the same cannot be said when the ladies are working behind the counter. They came across as short and at times slightly rude. However, despite the inconsistent customer service the pizza is very good. Nothing like what we can get where we are from. Just two interesting things I’ve never experienced at a pizza place except at A-1. First, they won’t give you any pizza boxes unless you order take out. I’ve never experienced that before. So instead you get a tiny little box to cram any leftover pizza into. I’m not sure what thats about, but its definitely odd… and pay attention to the box as it can come apart in your car… Second, I have yet to see a sign for a restroom for patrons. I may have just missed it, or I may not be there. Just two things to think about. Still like the pizza, but will consider other places too or just ordering take out.

This place is a Little Compton institution — it’s been here the 32 years my family has been in LC. The pizza is a total winner w/a nice crisp crust. The salads are amazingly fresh & good. My friend got a grilled chicken salad that rivaled any higher end restaurant. I personally love their grinders, especially the meatball. Cute & quaint atmosphere in beautiful LC — it’s a winner!

My family has had a home in Little Compton for years, so I’ve been coming to this place a few times a year for as long as I can remember. As a native New Yorker, I’ve always been partial to NY style pizza. A1 pizza has never quite hit the spot for me. That being said, I know I’m in the minority with that opinion and a lot of people enjoy A1 pizza. However, I do love their sandwiches. Every time I get a grinder here it is perfect. Doesn’t matter what type… turkey & ham, meatball, eggplant parm… always fantastic. One watch out though, they are cash only. I always forget that and a few times have only have $ 5 cash on me and had to run to the ATM next door.

A1 pizza offers some of the best Greek style pizza. The crust is nice and crisp even without a nice char on the bottom crust. My personal fave is the spinach and ricotta. It has a great sweet and savory flavor on top of their buttery crisp crust. The red sauce for the pies is great and a little on the sweet side. During the summer months be sure to put your order in early or after the rush or else it will easily be 40 — 90 mins for your pizza.

The food was really good. I only got a cheese pizza, but I would definitely try this establishment again. BUT the last time we called them they were closed, and then THIS time there was no delivery service. No biggie. We went to pick it up, and walking up I was charmed at the cuteness of the outside. They told us on the phone it would take 25 minutes. I thought that was a little long for pick up, but whatever, because we had to go get smokes and beer around the corner anyways. So all in all, it took us 10 – 15 minutes before we got there to get to the pizza place. Now, I left my phone at the house, so to be fair I don’t know how long I stood there, but I know for a fact that it was at least 20 minutes before we got our pizza at that point. Also, to be fair, the place was packed. I would have given this place four stars for the food alone, but the wait and lack of delivery knocked off a star. Also, the inside of the establishment is charming too, Although I would have PERSONALLY gotten rid of the chotchkes on the windows. I didn’t try the deserts, but they looked good having a bakery display right where you stand for the take out that takes a half an hour or more to get. I think maybe they looked good because I was that STARVING!!!

I love this place. Great menu with lots of pizzas, sandwiches, subs, and salads. The pizza hits the spot with a nice blend of spices, good toppings, and a crispy, heart crust. I always call in a order for pickup when I’m my way to Little Compton from Providence.

I LOVE A-1 pizza. I was just thinking about how excited I am to go to LC this summer, and thought’d I’d express some appreciation for the best pizza. My family eats a ton pizza, I especially love the salami pizza. Also the chicken cutlet is so good. Everyone who works there is so nice and I forget the owner’s name(and for that I feel like a jerk) but he is AWESOME. if you ever, for any reason, find yourself in the wonderful LC, I hope you make your way to A-1 pizza.

A-! Pizza is a Little Compton institution. Their pepperoni pizza is something of legend, at least in my book. Every in LC? Order a large pepperoni.

There is not much parking in the lot but there is plenty of parking on the side streets. The atmosphere is okay. Nothing great. The place is pretty clean though! The pizza is pretty decent. We also get steak and cheese grinders that are really good too. The cupcakes are awesome! We sometimes drive there just to get a few of them!(We live locally, like 4 miles away). Price wise I think it is really reasonable. I will add that sometimes when they are really busy the people can be kinda rude, but if you go when they aren’t really busy they are super nice.

Totally right about the personnel… the girls are not friendly at all! I never liked their pizza which stunk because they ARE the only place in town to get pizza, but they must have changed their recipe because for the last couple of months it has been excellent. It use to be really weird tasting, but it is dramatically better. Worth giving another try if you haven’t eaten there recently. Just called in an order… the girl was monotone at best!

Well you can’t argue that this place is very cute and tastefully decorated — classy even. I didn’t love the pizza though. It could be because I ordered the four cheese pizza and was expecting gorgonzola and asiago and the girl made me a boring regular cheese pizza instead. Either way, the crust and sauce were both pretty average — though not that bad. The buffalo wings were awesome. They were full of meat and heavily breaded, so it was like getting a boned wing with the flavor of a boneless. They don’t skimp on the sauce, either! Also good here are the sodas. I got an amazing all-natural blueberry soda that was fantastic. They also had raspberry filled cupcakes that were amazing. I wouldn’t drive 20 minutes to keep coming back here, but sure, I’d come by if I was in the area. Service could use some cheering up too.

The best place to get a pizza in Little Compton! OK, it’s also the ONLY place to get a pizza in Little Compton. BUT … the food is wonderful, reasonably priced, and a plain but cozy dining area. I usually make two trips to Rhode Island a year and always stop at A1 Pizza. I first went to A1 nearly thirty years ago, back before they remodeled and you entered from the side of the building, and they had no public restroom. Well, they radically remodeled several years ago … you enter from the front of the building, the interior is much nicer(it was a bit of a dive), but still no public restroom! They have a refrigerated beverage case in the dining area, stocked with lots of interesting drinks we can’t get at home«Down South». I used to get their wonderful subs(heroes, grinders, whatever), but several years ago, I tried the A1 Special pizza and I’ve been hooked ever since. Areas for improvement: the paper plates you’ll eat off of in the restaurant don’t withstand cutting the pizza into smaller pieces … if you do this(like I do), you WILL eat paper and eventually you cut through to the tray or the table. The food is very hot(a good thing), but the plastic knife and fork can’t withstand the heat and melt(seriously). I believe I overheard a worker tell a customer they could get actual silverware(metalware) for an additional $ 1. Don’t expect to pay that $ 1 with a credit card either, since they only accept cash and checks(local only, I suspect). And no public restroom? C’mon! Do your patrons a favor!

This place is actually located in the«Commons» area of Little Compton(right across the street from the school). The pizza is delicious because of the secret sauce. If I ever come to Little Compton again, I will call A-1. Yeah!
