Wished my daughter liked it, but I guess dancing is not her thing. Seemed like the teachers changed too often and she finally wouldn’t even go in the studio anymore. We switched to gymnastics and she likes it better. Thank goodness I had enough sense to opt out of the recital. The costumes and fees were out of our budget. The owner was so nice to try to get her to like dance, but she wouldn’t.

We just finished our first and last season with Encore because we are moving out of state. I am not sure I would have signed up again anyway. My daughter is 5, was 4 when she started. She, nor I, had ever been involved in dance. So we were complete novices. She went once a week for lessons. She enjoyed this very much. My problem is with the recital. I along with two other ladies were the stage moms for our girls class which took place at a local high school. We and the 6 girls were relegated to an UN– air conditioned room away from the other dancers. While the other dancers could hear what was going on on stage and listen for cues, as we were told we could, we sat alone in a hot room, in silence, waiting for someone to tell us when to go on. Once we were almost late. Our girls were left out of the loop so to speak. While the company dancers got drinks and snacks our dancers, the youngest ones, were not offered so much as a bottle of water. The final blow was when we had to go on stage with the others for a final bow. Having not been told what was expected we prepared the girls as best we could. We were told we would go out first. Thats all we knew. We taught the girls quickly how to hold hands and bow together. We thought we were ready! We trooped out with our tiny dancers and quickly tried to straighten the line and bow in unison only to be harshly told by the owner that we had to step to the back of the stage. Our girls did not even get a chance to bow! This whole experience has left me feeling like we were unimportant. Not what I expected and not a an experience I would want to repeat. So, if you do decide to attend Encore, keep in mind that unless you are a company dancer you can expect very little from the owner when your little ballerina goes to her recital. At least that was my experience.
