My experience was fun! First, I made sure to let Gary know that I hadn’t shot an arrow since middle school so he was very understanding and patient and gave me a refresher course on the newer archery equipment. Second, I made sure to ask about my form and positioning when I wasn’t sure. Gary was very willing to offer advice and saw to it that I had the right stance each time. I got a really good arm and shoulder workout for sure. Unfortunately, the academy is not equipped with bows for lefthanders but by the end of my lesson, I became ambidextrous! I’m excited about that. Although the studio is under renovation, it did not take away from my private time. In fact I could have stayed longer than the 90 minutes that I was initially allotted. But I wore myself out. In addition to fencing and archery being offered, they also offer boxing and martial arts lessons! I will be going back for more archery and may even try my hand at fencing. Their prices are reasonable for adults and children alike.

I purchased a Groupon for a 90 minute archery lesson. Horrible. The place is kinda sketchy but some of my most fun I had in life were in sketchy places… The building is a weird beat up warehouse and the door isn’t labeled. I wasn’t even sure if it was open. The inside was in flux. Construction meet bohemian crap hole. The lesson consisted of me standing shoulder to shoulder with other people. The«instructor» gave me a compound bow and three arrows. He pointed to the target and told me how to notch the arrow. Lesson over. Once the three arrows were shot, you had to wait for everyone else to finish, so you can get your three arrows. Sounds like a fun time, eh? Well let me tell ya, it sucked… The three arrows? One was obvious bent out of shape and someone tried to straighten it out. They didn’t try to hard though. The other arrows were missing some of their fletching, the feathers at the back… The entire time the«instructor» was on his phone, guess his shield in Clash of Clans was about to run out. Then, a kid came in for his fencing lesson and the«instructor» suited up for fence and paid even less attention to us. The Rising Star Fencing Academy just robbed me… My fault though. I should have checked reviews before I bought. A $ 20 lesson that was worth it. So thanks Rising Star. Don’t bother with this place.

THEYCAN’T GETTHEIRSHITTOGETHER! I purchased a groupon for an archery lesson at this place for my boyfriend’s birthday and lets say it was the worst groupon I ever bought! My boyfriend called to make a reservation and the guy who picked up was totally out of it and didn’t understand what my boyfriend was trying to do. My boyfriend told me that the guy was probably drunk. The guy sets up an appointment for July 4 at 2PM. On July 4, my boyfriend calls the place to confirm his appointment and to his surprise he finds out that they’re closing up early for the holiday. The new guy on the phone doesn’t know who set up the 2PM appointment with my boyfriend and helps him set up a new appointment for July 11 at 2PM. On July 11 at 2PM, my boyfriend and his friend drive up to the place to find it CLOSED. He calls the new guy who set up the appointment more than 10 times and NOTHING. My boyfriend calls me up pissed, telling me how shady this place is and to get a refund for the groupon and that’s what I did. THISPLACEDOESNOTDESERVEMYMONEYORANYBODYELSE’S! They are totally unprofessional and do not keep their word on said appointments. Today on Groupon, I saw that they’re currently selling these archery lessons again and I feel sorry for the people who are actually buying them. They’re going to have a difficult time like my boyfriend did. Go find a legit place to take archery lessons and not this shady hole.
