Fast service, food was plentiful and tasty. We ordered a range of apps from jellyfish, scallion pancake, soup dumplings and there wasn’t one complaint at the table. We also ordered the seafood pan fried noodle and i thought they’d be more generous with the noodles/seafood but they were skimping a bit on it. They made sure to drench the whole plate in gravy though, so noodles were no longer crunchy. Overall, still a solid place for Shanghainese food.

It’s a good place to get your Xiao long bao and some traditional Chinese food fix here on long island. I wouldn’t go here for Xiao long bao if I was already in Queens or flushing. Their soup dumplings were for some reason a little sour. Maybe the meat wasn’t fresh or the seasoning wasn’t right? Customer service here was great though. When we brought it to their attention, they were very willing to come out with another batch. Unfortunately it tasted similar, but we didn’t complain about it the second time. We also had their shanghai style udon which was pretty good and their beef scallion pancake which was probably one of their better dishes there. Their milk tea here was very good.

One of my favorite things to eat when I come back to NY is soup dumplings! So when my friend asked me what I wanted to eat/what have I missed, that was my first answer. He suggested this place because it’s easier to find parking than Flushing and it’s usually not as packed. Agreed to both points. We came on a Thursday night around 7. There was 4 of us, and we got seated within 20 minutes I’d say? The service was decent, but I’ve come to find that’s expected from any Asian restaurant. The food, though, hit the spot. We got both types of soup dumplings(with crab and without). The crab one was better in my opinion than the one without. We also got the scallion pancakes, sautéed green beans, house rice cake… and two other noodle dishes I don’t know the English name for. ^^” Anywho! It was all pretty good. Big pluses on the sautéed green beans not being oily or dried/shriveled. In fact, the dishes weren’t oily compared to other places I’ve been. For about 6 dishes, it ended up being less than $ 70. Not too shabby.

Finally a local spot where I don’t have to drive all they way into the hectic Flushing. This place is new, clean, and the staff are very friendly. The famous Beef Noodle soup was delicious. I was told the receipt was award winning in Taiwanese, where it originated.

I literally came here for their soup dumpling as I was in the area. I heard from other Unilocalers some nice reviews about the restaurants specialty. It was past 5 pm on a Friday night and hit an easy parking spot to next door’s establishment(bank). It was not crowded yet when I walked in. Placed the order and in less than 15 minutes I got my soup dumpling and my Shanghai style rice noodle. Being alone has an advantage. I have tried 2 bite size already when a waiter came over to tell me that the one I have was a pork. My pork and crab dumpling order has just arrived. They switched and apologized. When I was trying the pork and crab that I realized, I preferred the pork. My rice noodle was soft and packed with lots of meat. It was my first soup dumpling experience and I enjoyed it. The dumpling was soupy and tasty. I have trouble in the beginning on the right way to eat it. I placed a take out order for the family to enjoy it as well together with some other popular meals. The restaurant is nice and neat. It is a good spot for a simple celebration. The staff is nice. The wait bench is neat. The restaurant ‘s logo(smiley dumpling!) is so cute and pasted as a mark identifier for the restroom, changing table, business card, toothpick holder etc. The mode of payment is by cash so be ready for that. They have additional parking in the back. These informations are posted by the front door which is a very clever idea. Patrons will love coming back for the quality of food and service regardless of the downside. By the way, they do delivery too in the nearby areas and accept take out order in person or by phone. Pricing is higher comparably to other Asian restaurants of same standards but worth it. I am loving the place. Definitely coming back to try other thing on their menu.

We, 4 of us, went to this restaurant on Mothers Day for a quick supper. Upon arrival, we noticed no host was at the front. Every staff walked by us in a hurry, and no one acknowledged or bothered to greet us. There was one other group, two elder women and a younger with a baby, ahead of us was also wondering. This went on for 15 minutes. Finally, this old man came to give us a number without a smile or greeting. Another group of 6 arrived and then another group of 6 thereafter. 25 minutes later, he signaled the group with two elderlies to sit, but he scolded one of the elder ladies whom had lost patience waiting. This went on for about 5 minutes while he was setting up the table for them. He was extremely rude and disrespectful. I was about to saying to him, but he signaled the group of 6 behind us to be seated with three small tables put together. I went up to him and questioned, he said there was no small tables available. Did he think I was blind? Another 10 minutes went by, he placed the second group of 6 to seats to a corner spot which we can be easily taken care of. When we were called, he took us to a table with 6 seats. 6 seats, really? He could not have put us before those larger groups? My son, a teenager, got extremely upset and refuse to order any food in protest. We all felt unjust. The host/manager did not bother to apologize for the wait or misunderstanding, or miscalculating… The food ordering and wait was much more swift. Midway through the dinner, the restaurant was half empty. We left the restaurant that night, passing the host, the entire staff on the way out, no one had bothered to say a «thank you», «good night» or «have a wonderful evening» which all seemed very basic and trivial, but common sense… Food was really glorified chinese fast food. Table service was average. But the host area is horrible. There is no courtesy, graciousness, hospitality or understanding of customer service. Was it really necessary to hold up group of 4 for 55 minutes to accommodate two larger groups that came in later and only to have the restaurant go empty in half a hour? Extremely disappointed. We will not go back again.

CRAZY packed. Very multi-cultural inside — all sorts of clientele dining at this joint. Many times, you will need to wait for a table, which is fine. Dumplings were worth going for. Ordered the noodle dish and rice dish, too. Everything is very solid. Definitely going back here to hang out!

Surprised! I am not familiar with authentic Chinese cuisine. So if I order from a local spot I get my usual boneless spare rib. Lol but when I go out to Asian restaurants, its always helpful to have a description in English and pictures are a plus. Well no pictures on this menu so I was not too sure if I felt comfortable with what I ordered. Well no worries, our plates were delicious. Staff is pleasant. They don’t rush you and even though it was a weekend there was no wait. Definitely will return. Ooohh soup dumplings, oh sooo good!

Pleasantly surprised by the taste and amount of soup in the soup dumplings. However, was disappointed by their overall small size. So I’m conflicted if I think the dumplings are worth $ 1+ each. I guess if it means I can avoid driving out to Flushing, it’s okay once in awhile. We also ordered the twice cooked pork which had good flavor but I was disturbed by the skin that was still attached to the pork. I guess that’s typical of the dish but I was unaware and it caught me off guard.

Among the array of restaurants on Northern Blvd, we decided to try Little Dumpling out because we are huge soup dumpling fans and are always up for testing AND critiquing them :) I was pleased with the modern décor of the restaurant and the cute soup dumpling logo they’ve decided to use to represent the business. Napkins and chopstick wrappers all had the logo, which goes to show you how seriously this establishment takes its business and its attention to details. The spoons were large enough to hold an entire dumpling and its soup filling, which I appreciate. Everything seemed very clean and service wasn’t too shabby for an Asian restaurant. Unfortunately, I wasn’t crazy about the soup dumplings. They were too salty and the meat fillings weren’t marinated enough to my liking. We ordered a crabmeat and a pork meat, and they both tasted similar(meaning crabmeat didn’t have enough crab). It wasn’t horrible, I just had way better filling and soup. We also ordered the spicy beef stew noodle soup, which was flavorful with a nice kick and not overly powered by chili. The turnip puff pastry we ordered was okay, but nothing to rave about. I’d return if I was nearby again but if I was craving soup dumplings I’d venture out to Flushing.

Yummy Shanghainese/Taiwanese(moreso Shanghainese, though) spot in Little Neck. Perfect for when you don’t feel like doing battle with the traffic in Flushing! Stopped by on a Friday for lunch and was able to nab their lunch time specials. Their prices are obviously higher than Flushing but convenience trumps that factor. XLB was not the best I’ve had, but adequate. The skin was far too thick but the soup was great! We also had the minced pork Taiwanese style and I thought it was pretty good. Added a side order of the garlic cucumber and was definitely on the sweeter side. Must get the beef scallion roll — sooooo fatty but delish. Oh, and we also had an order of the beef noodle soup, which was superb. Yes, all this for three people! All in all, a hearty meal with great service. TIP: They have a small parking lot out front but also validate parking in the large lot behind them!

Greatest spot to come if you’re in the mood for dumplings. The outside doesn’t look so appealing but once you walk in it’s actually very nice and clean. Gets very busy on weekends. Ordered the steamed pork soup dumplings. They are literally the best thing here. Definitely have to let them sit for a couple of minutes when they come out or you will burn your tongue. The pan fried pork buns were okay. I wasn’t fond of them. Kind of tasteless and dry. The vegetarian dumplings were delicious with great flavors. Also ordered the chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce which is one of my favorite dishes here. They have so many options it’s hard to choose. Only down side is the place only accepts cash…

Came here for lunch with friends! We got here a little after 11:30 and there were still plenty of seats inside since the restaurant just opened. There’s a «parking lot» right outside but it only has 3 spots so you’re basically going to have to find parking on the streets, which actually doesn’t seem too bad in this area. The décor here was great! Definitely more upscale than the Shanghainese restaurants that you find in Flushing. They play Cantonese music!!! Service was excellent. Our server was very nice and always made sure that our cups were filled to the brim with green tea. They also speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese so it makes it that much easier for customers to order. Soup dumplings– Skins were thin, meat was savory, and soup was delicious! I think I like the ones here more than the ones at Nan Xiang! Beef scallion pancakes– If you thought the ones at Nan Xiang were good, these were 10x better! They only give you one piece of beef in the scallion pancakes at Nan Xiang but here they give at least 3 pieces! Beef was yummy and pancake was crispy. Beef pan fried noodles– Ok this one was kind of a letdown. The noodle to toppings ratio was just wayy off. There were not enough noodles so we had so much of the beef, corn, carrots, and veggies left after finishing the noodles. Sauce was a little too watery for my liking. Beef noodle soup– So delicious! The noodles weren’t too hard but weren’t too mushy either, just the right texture. The soup was delectable… perfect amount of spiciness added. The beef was not chewy and absorbed all of the delicious flavors of the soup! The décor here is great, the service is excellent and the food is delicious. So how come it didn’t get 5 stars from me? Two reasons: One is because the pan fried noodles just left me kind of disappointed since I’ve had better in Chinatown. Second is because when we were about to leave, we brought the money, including the tip, to the cashier in the front, not knowing that we were supposed to leave the tip on the table. The cashier gave us a very nasty attitude regarding this that I found very off-putting…He definitely could’ve handled the situation in a much more amicable manner… This is why no matter how good the food at a restaurant is, the business will never be perfect if they hire pricks to work there… Tragic because I really thought this was going to be a 5 star review…

Little Dumpling is absolutely fantastic and affordable. We’ve tried quite a lot of their menu more than once having been there many times and it’s now our go-to spot when we’re not sure what we’re doing for dinner. TAKENOTE: CASHONLY. There’s a bank literally three storefronts down if you need an ATM, but keep this in mind. Soup dumplings — I went on a soup dumpling rampage for a couple of weeks, even taking a trip to Nan Xiang in Flushing, purported to have the best soup dumplings on the East Coast. Returned to Little Dumpling the very next day, and found that, IMHO, Little Dumpling’s soup dumplings are better — YESBETTER! They are absolutely delicious, skins are thin and well pleated, and the contents slurp-worthy and piping hot. I always go for the pork, as the crab and pork has a bit of a fishy taste that throws me off, but if this is your thing, I suggest you give them a go. Pan fried pork dumplings — one of our favorites — crispy on the outside but still tender, great filling. Crispy salted chicken — another fave — basically tastes like KFC(in a good way) but less greasy and scary. Friend chicken, cut into thin strips/pieces. Always a great start to our meal. Crunchy on the outside. Scallion pancakes — yet another of our favorites, and we always get an order to go with our soup dumplings. Fantastic dipping sauce on the side, always fresh, crispy and hot. Beef scallion pancakes — a more intense version of the above, including shaved scallions, thin strips of beef, and hoisin sauce. A little heavy on the hoisin for our taste, but still a good dish if you’re craving scallion pancakes but want something a little more filling. Cold noodles with sesame and peanut butter sauce — we are of two minds about this dish — is is extremely simple, looks like cold spaghetti with a light sauce of sesame oil sesame seeds and, literally, peanut butter. I found them to be delicious, and I’m not a big fan of peanut-flavored dishes. My husband wasn’t overly impressed, but still chowed down and enjoyed the dish. Worth a shot, definitely. Spring Rolls — love them. Hot, crispy(like many of the things above) and tasty filling with good dipping sauce. Will order again. Pan Fried Pork Buns — a fluffier, meatier dough than any of the dumplings(obviously) but the same filling. Good, but I prefer the pan fried or soup dumplings. General Tso’s Chicken — not your run-of-the-mill Americanized Chinese dish — actual big chunks of chicken in a sauce that is familiar in flavor but less sticky and sickly sweet than what you’ll find at most takeout storefronts. Pan friend noodle with chicken — HOT(temperature wise), fresh, and well prepared. It’s such a satisfying experience mixing the hot stir fry into the crispy noodles. Reheats well if you have leftovers. Next on our list to try are their soups, which always look wonderful on our neighbors’ tables but we have yet to jump in that pool. Will update once we’ve tried them. The only downside to Little Dumpling is takeout and delivery. Having gotten delivery and takeout a couple of times, their food does suffer in transport(especially the delicate soup dumplings, which have a tendency to burst, spilling their glorious juices throughout their plastic container), and I highly suggest just sitting down and enjoying your dinner at the restaurant itself. The restaurant itself is very clean, and free parking is available in the garage underneath the building(if you can find and fit into a spot). The parking lot in the front is tiny, and almost always full, but there is also parking on Northern Blvd. if it’s after rush hour — I often park across the street — free after 7pm. Service is always polite, efficient, and servers are readily available for additional requests or issues. Food comes at you rapid-fire for the appetizer courses, but slows down once they’re out, and entrees follow at a good pace. Can get busy in the evenings, especially Friday and Saturday nights — they don’t take reservations, but will put your name on a list. I’ve waited about 15 minutes for a table when necessary, and they have some seating in their lobby, and more outside for when the weather is nice. We will continue returning to Little Dumpling regularly, and hope they never, ever leave us.

Dumplings are great! service is great too. very attentive. it’s a cash only business, luckily there’s a chase next door. I had the soup dumplings and they were amazing. I’m so glad I came here for lunch. the chicken broccoli was great! the chicken was fresh and white. the broccoli was also tasty, the sauce was fab. highly recommended, my meal cost $ 15.80 for one person. I will come back to try more meals on the menu, since it’s so large.

Solid 3.5 stars for this Taiwanese/Shanghainese place tucked away in Little Neck. As the Chinese population continues to move further out east on Long Island, the eateries have followed. This place serves a combination of Shanghainese food and advertises the soup dumplings as the headliner. Soup buns here are OK but if you’re looking for the best, Flushing is still the place, but if you’re further out and don’t want to go into the madhouse, its a good alternative. Vegetarian duck was a bit bland, hot and sour soup needed a kick but red bean puff was good. Shanghai fare was hit and miss. Taiwanese fare here was better as the pork chop on rice was good and the minced pork on rice was decent. I also appreciated the fact that the pork chop was not super fatty unlike some other places. Service was really good and the servers all spoke English. Parking was a bit limited but it should be easy enough to find on the street if the lot is full. The prices are a bit higher than Flushing so that’s a minus but again, if you’re further out and don’t want to trek in, its a fair trade. Decent eatery and I’m hoping they maintain that level.

Food: I usually come here to avoid the crowds in chinatown and flushing and of course for the parking. The food here is good, good soup dumplings, they’re not that greasy and won’t make you feel like you’ll have a heart attack after(Joe Shanghai fans, you know what I’m talking about!). For 2 people we usually get the pork and crab soup dumplings, which are nice and juicy, very flavorful soup, and a nice thin dumpling skin. We also get the beef scallion pancakes(bomb!!), and we usually add a spicy wonton or a noodle. The service is good and the food is good. Highly recommended if you want to avoid the crowds. Brew: I usually don’t get beer, I wash down the soup dumplings with nice hot complimentary tea.

First Time! Cash only. I’ve never had good soup dumplings in Cali and luckily my Uncle and cousins were able to show my fiancé’ and i a place real close by from their house for an impromptu dinner. Atmosphere/Location: Right off of Northern Blvd. A very small parking lot. You’ll have to be lucky to find one in front of the restaurant or on the street in NYC. Decent sized restaurant. Packed house on a Thursday night. Wait time was about 20 mins for dinner. Very nice décor. Plenty of seating. TV’s. Small waiting area. I prefer to wait outside. Food: –Soup Dumplings –Chinese Broccoli –Pan Fried Crispy Noodles Chicken –Scallion Pancake Items we tried were all amazing. Savory authentic tasteful dishes. Service: Most excellent. Very accommodating. Fast. Friendly. Overall: You cannot go wrong with this place. Although wait time during a packed out is about 20+ mins, waiting area is small, and parking sucks. 4 stars. However, for fresh authentic cooking and great service, it is worth the wait. Highly recommended.

Wow it was super crowded when me and my parents arrived at the restaurant. My dad went to ask one of the servers since we have been waiting more than 20 mins and then we were seated right away because they probably forgot about us. Cold Dishes: Shanghai Style Marinated Gluten Appetizers: Steamed Pork Soup Dumplings with Crab(6) Noodle Soup: Beef & Chili Pepper Noodle Soup(my mom) and Smoked Fish Noodle Soup(my dad) First off the Shanghai Style Marinated Gluten finally didn’t have any peanuts in it which was safe for me to try. Oh boy, it was definitely very yummy. I ordered my favorite Steamed Pork Soup Dumpling with Crab which I had all to myself as my parents didn’t want any. I tried both of my parents’ noodle soups… WTH it was bland and absolutely no flavoring! The best part of ordering any noodle soup is sipping that delicious soup. Me and my parents’ were really disappointed! We had high expectations since it was a crowded Saturday night and the results aren’t great. I am glad to cross this off my list and good bye!
