Be careful what you order. We get lunch occasionally through our company and the last two times have been a disappointment. Today the quiche was cold and looked and tasted over a week old. It was very hard to the point I couldn’t cut parts of it with a knife. Fortunately it came with a poppy seed muffin that was decent so I was able to have something for lunch.

Chicken salad on croissant is very tasty. I’ve never encountered one of their soups I didn’t like, particularly the crab bisque. Awesome local place for lunch.

I recently visited Scallions for the second time, as I unfortunately, tend to forget about this restaurant– not living or working in the Heights. However, I was looking for a healthy option, as well as a restaurant that serves good soup(the Mom’s request). Happily, Scallions had both. The weekend atmosphere was nice– steady, but not slammed. Our waitress was efficient, and friendly enough. I ordered half of the Healthy Turkey sandwich(yep, it’s called that) with a side of vegetable soup. The husband had a basic turkey and cheese sandwich with Scallions famous cheese soup. The Mom had the cheese soup, while her friend had the sampler: chicken salad, fruit, a poppyseed muffin, and crab bisque soup. All were pretty good. I also purchased some local art while there– I believe they change out fairly often. Beautiful and affordable.

I have been to Scallions five or six times in as many years, and it is a consistently tasty lunch spot. I think what I like best about it as that it’s below-street-level courtyard with shade umbrellas over all the tables makes it pleasant to eat outside for much of the year, even when it’s really, really hot, like it was today. I don’t like the inside as much — it feels cramped, not cozy. I like to come and sit outside with my girlfriend; it’s so relaxing and pretty here. From reading the other Unilocalers’ reviews, I see that I need to try the soups, but I usually have the«French Twist» sandwich, Scallions’ famously delicious chicken salad on a croissant. You can have this with chips, fruit or a green salad with your choice of dressing. I’ve had all three options are all are good. I had the green salad today, and it was very nice, as it had peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes and savory croutons with dark greens. Scallions is also a nice place to have a glass of wine with lunch when you can, which I sometimes do. My friend had the chicken salad plate(not sandwich), and she always really enjoys that. Our service today was super attentive and friendly and fun — the right attitude for a lunch spot! You have to go to the counter inside to pay, instead of paying your server at the table, which doesn’t go, to me, with the attitude of the restaurant of the food or the fact that you can have wine or beer with your meal, but it’s not a hassle(I’ve only had to wait once, I think, to pay). When it gets a little cooler, I’ll be back to try the lobster bisque!

I love Scallions. They have the best cheese soup I’ve ever had. I had the soup and a Heights Veggie sandwich which consists of cream cheese and olive spread, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomotoes, mushrooms, alfalfa sprouts, toasted almonds and avocado spread on health nut bread. It was wonderful.

They have the best chicken salad in the world! My friend and I used to come here often for lunch. Since the chicken salad is sooooo good, I have not tried anything else yet. The cheese soup is awesome too! I missed this place so much now I don’t live in LR any more.

I love this place for lunch. They have the best soups in Little Rock. All are homemade and fresh. My favorites are the crab bisque and the cheese soup. Both are so rich and creamy. They also have the best sandwiches. Generous portions, great quality of ingredients and the service is out of this world. During the summer, the patio at lunch time is the place to be. I haven’t tried the dinner menu yet, but would love to sometime soon.

I agree!!! Just wanted to mention the soups! man oh man they are delicious. And the sandwiches are a wonderful lunch opiton as well– they put sprouts on ‘em. I believe they were the first to do so in Arkansas years ago– maybe they were ahead of their time-but the years have not slowed down the cuisine and this place really does offer some of the best al fresco dining in the heights for lunch.
