WHATDID I JUSTEAT? I have no idea, but it definitely wasn’t like any other Mexican food I’ve had, something from a village in the Yucatan interior, I think. It was peasant food, chopped and pulled meats, diced potato and fruit with fresh spices folded into a bread turnover. It was very good and even more interesting, but it had none of those bright flavors and textures that make me love TexMex and Santa Fe strains of Mexican. Bottom line for me is that I like On the Border-type restaurants better, maybe Taco Bell even.

Love this place!!! Pastes are not my thing, but these tamales are delicious!!! The chicken and pork oaxaqueno, traditional, and verde tamales are the best I’ve ever had. The sauces are also very good, especially the tomatillo. If you are looking for a fajitas-and-cheese-dip-tex-mex-type-restaurant or if canned tamales with hormel chili(which I grew up on) is your thing, you should avoid. But if you want authentic tamales from great people, give this place a try.

Wow… this is a hidden secret… very very good mexican food… i had 2 of their pastes, rice and carrot salad. My husband had tamales, black beans, rice… it is run by the owners .very friendly and helpful people… i say it is a hidden secret because it is very hard to find but well worth the search. we used our navigator and still drove by it .it is next to a smoothie place… it is well worth the search!!!

Tamales were great, service was quick and our server was very sweet. Free chip with a trio of red, green and guacamole(I believe) salsa. Our meal was only $ 14 for my husband and I to eat and we left there stuffed. I will definitely go back.

The best tamales north of I-630 in Little Rock, maybe even all of Little Rock. Anyways, this is tucked in a small building across from the old Circuit City building off of Markham(which is now a Goodwill). I’ve tried several of the tamales over the course of five months. All are delicious but the star was the Oaxaqueño pork tamales, which is wrapped in banana leaf instead of corn husk. The one downside I think this place has is that I like spicy food, and none of the tamales have any kick to it without having to add hot sauce.

Excellent food. Very cheap prices. And the service was very good as well. The lady gave my friend a free dessert because she heard us discussing that it was her birthday! Will definitely come back for more Tamales here!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried — both sweet and savory. They bring you chips with guacamole, salsa verde, and one other salsa. All three were very tasty and also good on the empanadas and tamales. Quick service. Great prices. Friendly staff. We had our 10 month old with us, and to say this place was child friendly would be a major understatement. They even brought our baby a scrambled egg and some cheese to nibble on. The seating area is small, but it has a very bright and welcoming feel.

I’m mexican and I can tell you these are amazing Tamales! You can taste the flavor from different states from Mexico in the menu. They also have a veggie tamal and it’s absolutly delicious! And the prices are very affordable for lunch. On the weekends you can order traditional hot mexican beverages like champurrado or rice atole. Sweeeeeet!

A perfect example of «hole in the wall» and«just do a few things and do them REALLY well.» Being from Texas where we pride ourselves on steaks, bbq and Mexican food this place is probably one of the best tamales I have ever had. Menu selection is not extensive and there isn’t a need to expand you come here for Pastes or Tamales if you don’t like either don’t come. The guacamole is like nothing I have had before and I make damn good guac. The salsas are also authentic as well. This is a must try if u haven’t yet.

You can’t go wrong with any of the tamales. The pastes are good too(be sure to try them!), but the tamales are heavenly. Get anything with the verde sauce or mole — yum! The homemade salsas they serve are addictive. I asked if they bottle and sell their salsa and apparently many people have asked about this because they are planning to start.

My dad is obsessed with tamales. So much that he has literally driven me across the state on a «tamale tour». When I came to visit, he insisted on trying this place. This is what we got: Tradicional tamale– delicious. Loved the verde salsa with it. Tinga & poblano pastes– delicious again. I was expecting them deep fried and greasy, but was pleasantly surprised when they were not. Oaxacan tamale– that’s probably not how you spell it, sorry. This one is in a banana leaf which makes the masa taste a little sweet and like a banana, naturally. My dad thought this had too much masa in proportion to the meat, but I didn’t mind. That’s the style. The black beans and red rice were all delicious as well. I really liked how simple this place was, not a huge menu or a bunch of sides to choose from. You want a tamale, you get a tamale. I would definitely go again. «Very tasty, although masa to meat ratio too high. Delicious rice. Water was wet. Worth a return trip, would go back.» –my dad. P. S. Everything came out very quickly! Great service.

I’ve passed by this tiny five table hole in the wall a million times and never noticed it until today and I’m so glad I stopped in. This is not your run of the mill blanco queso and salsa Texmex joint that is all over central Arkansas. Your meal starts with corn chips served with an array three tasty dipping sauces that are all very mild which for a spice wimp like me was just fine. The simple menu mostly consists of large hand made tamales wrapped in corn husks or banana leaves and pastes(pah’-stays: «empanadas»). The choice of fillings are a combination of chicken or pork with various sauces or even vegetarian. There is also a selection of dessert pastes. I tried two tamales and two pastes all with different fillings and loved every bite. They were out of blackberry, so I finished with a strawberry & cream cheese filled paste that had whipped cream on the side. The strawberry filling was a delicious compote. They have various combinations from which to choose but a person can each lunch here for $ 7.00. I pigged out for $ 12.00 and plan to become a regular customer. This place is tiny and very easy to miss as I did. It is behind the Walgreens that is located at Bowman and W Markham.

Great hole in the wall place. If you want something quick and on the go or to sit down and enjoy, you are in the right place. They even have a drive thru. The people are very friendly and everything is handmade down to the sauces for dipping. There is quite a selection on the menu. What is new and different from what I have ever seen before is the sweet tamales. I didn’t have a chance to try it, but I am sure it is just as good as their other stuff. The price is very reasonable to the amount you get. For $ 20 bucks you can get a dozen tamales! What a deal. You can feed a whole family with that. What I got: Cochinita pastes: This was a decent portion dish. Very fresh and tasty. A good blend of favors together. Verde tamales: Wrapped in banana leaf, this little guy is delicious! Normally I don’t like chicken, but I did like this a lot, even a little more than the cochinita. It was moist and flavorful all around. A hint of spice, not too strong, but I’m a big spice eater so it wasn’t too bad for me. The Verde is what gives it a hint of spice. Of course you can’t go wrong the the chips and salsa! They have 3 different salsas. My favorite is the verde sauce. Definitely a go to place!

I read the reviews on Unilocal and wanted to try the food. It is a small place located a few buildings behind Walgreens just off of Bowman rd. I love tamales and eat them every chance I get. Now days it is hard to find restaurants that serve tamales. So I was very excited to find this place. It was not busy and the owner was very friendly and helpful. Being my first time, I wanted to sample them all but I settled on the 3 tamales dinner with two sides for the very low price of $ 6.49. I ordered the Oaxaqueno(wrapped banana leaf with pork and mole sauce), the traditional(with chicken and mole sauce) and lastly, the Poblano with rice and beans as sides. I got filled up on two tamales. And they were VERY delicious, all three tamales! I will be coming back for more! The price for the dinners, $ 4.99 for two or $ 6.49 for 3 tamales and two sides, or the tamales for $ 2 each is super cheap! Give it a try and ENJOY!

Truly, a hidden gem! Tamalittle recently took over the former Pizza Café To-Go location in West Little Rock. Blink, and you’ll miss it. But, you’ll be sorry you do! The food and service are exceptional! Despite the small appearance, they actually have quite a bit of seating. The owner was very cheerful and friendly. They start your meal with three yummy, differing salsas and chips(free-of-charge). The food is very inexpensive, and consists of tamales and pastes(similar to empanadas.) They offer both savory and sweet versions. My husband opted for two tamales: a Qaxaqueno(wrapped in banana leaf with pork and mole sauce), and a Verde(chicken and tomatillo sauce.) For $ 5.99, he got both tamales, as well as rice and beans for sides. I tried the Poblano tamale, as well as a Tinga paste(shredded chicken, tomatoes, onions, peppers.) For dessert, we split the Fresa sweet paste(strawberries and cream), and the Uchepo sweet tamale(sweet corns, pecan, milk.) Everything was great! Delicious food, highly affordable cuisine, and friendly service. Go there now :)
